Quick reply's lads cheers but can the hosts stay one step ahead of the ISP's by changing to known ports that do not have issues ?

Tiscali say that gaming should not be affected as it is relatively low bandwidth with LFS using about 2 or 3GB / Month and thats hammering it, but they specifically deny port blocking ?

Same Problems Here - Tiscali - Unable to connect to master server this happens between 4pm and 11pm

Funny thing is though I can get around this to by using Join2Lfs to a certain extent - by using join2lfs I can connect to some servers such as USA City and some others that are not regularly in use but the STCC servers I still cannot connect to between 4pm and 11pm.

Seems to be a combination of Service Throttling and Port Blocking by Tiscali

I'll try and see if I can connect directly to the STCC servers by Connecting directly as mentioned above but if it's port blocking I doubt this will work.

PS. Any chance of hosts setting up servers with different ports or is there other issues I'm unaware of not being a techie - it's just if I can connect to a couple of servers with no problems then it must be possible to get around this problem.

MMMmmmm very interesting techniques guy's, Just goes to prove I need a wheel and pedal set up as I'm using a mouse and keyboard at present and I could not pin down how some cars seem to fly around the track especially on the tight SO curquits

Time to Bite the bullet and get that G25

The SO tracks are great for the new and bronze, alot of manic adrenaline rushed fun but that sprint 2 track is just insane as it's a little like Monaco although it is possible to pass cleanly it's usually done with a little force

Endurance needs a completely different mindset hence my first race started 30 sec behind the pack and on lap 20 was leading simply by taking care and waiting your moment, you would be amazed at how many places you can pick off just waiting for the car infront to make a mistake (made easier last night as all other racers were treating it as a short sprint)

don't think this would happen on silver and up mind

I would definately wish the Endurance to stay just seems that some of the racers need a little educating
especially when theres no effective pitstops.

NIGHTHAWK : yeah pretty late mate and I must apologise for the off in the UF1 - Im still using the mouse and the aggresive taps I was getting forced me into you - Counter steer with mouse does'nt really work until you hit something hard this time unfortunately it was yourself - the sooner I can get a wheel the better cause I would'nt want to step up to the silver server until I do.

Good racing Greboth I believe I followed you for 15 laps or so

I agree that the main problem was the lack of pits as this meant rejoining the race from lap 1 if you wrecked your car on this track, If a different track was used with pits enabled the racing would be alot better as it would mean you could still get back into the race

Did not have any Problem myself only the fuel due to the fact I joined the server as the race started and just whacked a setup on and joined then noticed on lap 2 that the race was 33 laps (OH S**t) fingers crossed to no avail

Just a little feedback from last nights racing

Not an overall resounding success on the STCC 1a server last night as usually this server is full to the brim.

The track was SO sprint 2 Rev 33 Laps the problem being in the race that started at around 11:15pm as I think there was around 10 cars on the grid with myself on the front row.

Anyway as the race carried on 1 by one they left the server due to the fact thier cars were no longer drivable, by lap 18 there was only 3 cars left, by lap 24 only 2 of us, I was a little miffed as I had lead from the lights when the other driver from the pits ended the race on lap 28.

The other earlier races ran in a simular vien although racers did not leave the server alot of them returned to the pits and rejoined to the extent that in race 1 I had missed the start and by the time I threw on a set up I was 3/4 of a lap behind and by lap 20 was in the lead only to run out of fuel on lap 28 as I was unaware until lap 2 that it was a 33 lap race but had to carry on with fingers crossed - Gutted

The next race I finished 4th from the back of the grid

So at 11:45 last night the server was empty which is pretty unheard of for STCC1a so jumped ship to STCC1b

Been getting the same here :

No reply from master server between 4pm and 11pm when connecting directly from ingame outside these hours fine I'm with Tiscali 8mb max package and from what I understand it may be down to them traffic shaping

The past couple of days I have been using Join2LFS but encountering the problems that you have mentioned plus other connection problems such as :

Did not receive track info

No From LFS Home Page just purchase S1 Licence by entering usual billing details - Start game enter details and away you go half the game opened up but then to my surprise only 1 server and no official LFS servers to be seen.

I did raise an eyebrow at the time and was not too pleased as you probably have guessed at first I thought that my computer was not connecting properly it was only later in the Forums I found out that Beckys server is the only one running at present.

I have not made any Official Complaint and do not intend to as I'll be upgrading shortly but it does seem to me to be a little naughty of the owners.

I was wondering about the S1 Licence and the server issue myself as I would have thought that Scawen would be obliged by trading standards to run Official LFS Servers for S1 licencees Specifically as he's selling an S1 licence seperately and does not seem to be supporting this licence at all.

The problem at present is that the 1a server only caters for 2 cars within the S1 Licence part of the game meaning the other cars I can only race in single player mode

A little off subject and not your problem so thanks again for running your server cause without it I would be screwed, I'm sure if you removed your server Scawen would find himself in a piccle as he would then be selling a service that he is not catering for.

S1 Servers ? I'm Only picking up the 1 server on an S1 Licence Which is the 1a New and Bronze Sever :scratch IS THERE MORE SERVERS I SHOULD BE GAINING ACCESS TO ?

Yes I do know, but if you read all the posts I have a long term plan as I think it pointless to jump straight in and become a spoiler in a car and track combo I don't have experience with.

Anyways tonight I had a Good night as I had a 2nd out of 12 at SO town reverse ran about 10 races in all jumped from 60 to 132 Points so mabe I can get Bronze in a week or two

All of a sudden that S2 licence does'nt seem too far off

But as I stated before It's going to take time to learn the tracks as I'm still coming across tracks I've never seen Before in fact My 2nd place at SO Town Rev was new to me and the second place came in race No 2

Thanks for the reply Becky From what I have seen in the last week or so i'm very impressed with the whole set up you have created and the racers I have met on the Copper/Bronze Server seem a good set of lads

I'm now resigned to the fact it could take me 4 months or so to get into the bulk of your Community running only 2 cars

Just worried it could get a little tedious at times But don't get me wrong as the racing is very enjoyable and I also like the fact that from 1 hour to the next you hav'nt got a clue whats coming next and as you know us Welsh don't give up that easy so see you all trackside Soon

I agree with the quote but from my experience in the last week due to the fact that we have PRO Racers joining the server irrespective of the licence they hold they are turning the server into a pro racing server intentionally or not.

It may be the case and probably is that they have raced on LFS for a no of years and only recently joined the STCC servers in this case they should be allowed once proven to possibly enter at the SILVER level

This will give the Noobs like myself a bit of a level playing field and a chance to pick up points a little quicker.

Sorry but cant agree as the points for each particular licence must have been set by the admins to enable a racer to gain a licence in a particular time period - For instance if 8 High Licence racers always entered the copper bronze server the newbie racer is getting frozen out irrespective whether the higher licence holders gain points or not.

Looking at the racer stats some of the silver licence holders may have two or more years experience and know the courses inside out whereas myself has a couple of weeks experience and some tracks i'm seeing for the first time on the server.

So I think it all comes down to respecting the class your entering - myself I would never enter a pro server even on demo just incase I become a spoiler the same applies if racers drop to a server that they are too qualifed to race in.

I have a question about the copper and bronze server as it seems open to higher licence holders also, tried searching for an answer in vain can someone please confirm whether my hunch is correct or not

I did do a search on some of the names on the server and it appears some of the racers are old hands with a couple of thousand licence points etc.

The problem I have as a noob to stcc is being competitive with these drivers as they seem to be dropping to the lower level server to skim points as it looks as if about 4 racers are well out in front with a second group behind.

Finding it hard at the start when starting the next race in about 5,6 or 7th as mid grid you always seem to get whacked from behind at the first bend

Enjoying the racing but the points are coming very slowly due to the problems encountered above as the top 4 cars seem to be running higher licences than Bronze.

I'm with Tiscali and have been getting this problem since I joined LFS 2 weeks ago - cannot connect to master server between the hours of 4pm - 11pm and to put a bigger downer on it I upgraded my package to 8mb Tiscali max 4 weeks ago from a 2mb package specifically to do a little online gaming

Did anyone find the solution to this ?

Just got my S1 Licence as using the mouse at present, plan was to get a wheel learn the S1 tracks and cars and then to upgrade to S2 but with this happening even the wheel is on hold until I can get it sorted
