Sorry to butt in lads but should this not be resolved by the Admins rather than bringing the BOTT series into disrepute with what looks like the start of a flaming, please use the appropriate channels to resolve incidents as this is getting boring and if the incident does not warrant an official complaint then get on with it thats racing.
horrgakx this is not the place to post videos etc of race incidents, there are official procedures to follow please submit the incident to the BOTT Admins thanks.
And please remove Video as this should not be posted publically as it is not up for public debate let the Admins come to thier own conclusions without outside pressures.
Well to me I would liken it to a real life progression in motorsport where you start off either in Clubman (Race 1) or Formula Ford etc etc ( SS1 ) then trying to progress up the ladder to the pinnacle of your desired route whether that be GT1 or F1 and the CTRA team have done a very good job with this car balancing etc to provide us all with very competitive races across various car types.
What most of you seem not to have realised is the version we are using today is only V1 with more functions and tweeking to come so sit tight, stop whinging and enjoy the ride as I believe LFS and the CTRA combination is going to be one of the best places to be within the Sim Racing World
Back to server points topic........
The last thing I would like to see is the higher licence drivers not being able to drop down to Race 1 or SS1, the copper and bronze licence holders should use this scenario as a positive and use this time to learn off the higher drivers and ask for sets also it's a chance to save the replays as a lot can be learnt from watching race replays afterwards.
As I have stated previously the points I personally would rather only go to the copper, bronze and silver licence holders on Race 1 and clubman (mabe Int B also) drivers on SS1, the majority of higher licence holders are not really bothered with the minimal points on offer and return mainly for the combo's on offer, as we have all realised that it is usually these servers that provide very good enjoyable close racing.
The reason I add silver to Race1 is to enable them to gain points on Race 1 and Race 2 to aid their progression up the tiers the same with Int B on the SS servers hence the brackets just my thinking on this.
+1 for no points for bigger licence drivers on SS1 and Race 1.
I believe even the bigger licence drivers would agree that they only drop servers to purely race for the enjoyment of taking part with the different car classes availiable.
I'm all for bringing back RallyX to CTRA and the natural thing to do would be to add it into the B and J Rotation.
Hell yeah I'm up for that, it will be like old times Mike
Plus more tracks for the XFG
So SamH please add all the old RallyX tracks to B and J, TBO the numbers on B and J have reduced in the last week or so this may be just what it needs.
The fact of the matter is Becky is that we do not seem to cope with it hence a handfull of cars finishing the race and even less cars on the lead lap.
Your also right we do have a choice - and we do go to another server, I mean who's going to wait 10 mins when you can be on another CTRA server in 20 sec.
We're not knocking CTRA or complaining only trying to come up with constructive ideas that could increase the enjoyment for all which are based on our experiences, the fact is that there's a large percentage that leave SS1 after 1 or 2 races if there's high wind present and it's not only the inexperienced drivers neither which suggests to me that things could be improved.
Not all of us are aware what is or is not possible when coding for LFS ( such as a Cap on wind ) and you must get cheesed off reading all the crap put forward so just slap me accross the head with a wet fish and send me on my way
Like I've been saying in my previous posts, the problem is not with general normal wind ( up to 30kph ) the problem only occurs in the extreme IE over 40 kph, and why is it that you can get an hour or so of the extreme when it's supposed to be random, can the system randomise wind for each race rather than the whole single track rotation ?
From my experience so far wind up to 30 kph is enough that you have to adapt your driving, but above 30 kph and you start getting into the scenario of unpredictability as all manner of consistancy is lost, as one lap your fine the next lap oop's your off on a mystery tour of the flora and forna.
There's also the problem with winged cars that rely on downforce of taking it too cautious and not producing enough downforce causing you to spin, so it's trying to find that balance of pushing upto a point that the wind is not going to blow you wide and going fast enough so you don't spin out due to lack of downforce and this is where the problem lies, the extreme wind scenario seems very inconsistant lap by lap and without that IRL extra sensory perception it's a nightmare just to keep the little FOX on the black stuff.
So I say cap the wind to 30kph and lets cut out the silly season and enjoy all the racing.
the problem last night SamH was every race was very high wind ( I raced at least 8 races )
I'm not opposed to wind, it just becomes a farse when 5 cars out of a full grid finish an 8 lap race and combined with the fact we had high wind for every race the server soon emptied which suggest's to me there is a problem here.
When I finished 3rd in one race I was the last car on that lap the others were +1 lap down
The kick in the balls last night was that we all held out for the track change and what did we get +46kph I for one as many others did promptly left we had all had enough.
The fact LFS states KPH is niether here nor there it feels like wind speed is more like MPH from the way the wind effects the cars..... is this me or does anyone else agree.
I have to agree with Gentlefoot on this one, the wind was too extreme last night on FE allways very high 40's kph I even got into a spin on the straight after the first chicane due to a small bump and the wind combination, Its not that we don't have experience of that combo either as we ran it a month ago in the GF championship so I had my race set to use but the wind meant I personally was just cruising around not racing
This picked me up a 3rd in one race, also the wind seems to gust so one lap you may find yourself ok the next your eating grass or worse you get a face full of wall that combined with cars flying every which way for the first couple of laps I would rather be back on the B and J server you get less incidents there
Could the wind not be set to a range of 0 - 30 kph that way we all get to race which is what we all join the server for as the high wind scenario is just too unpridictable as shown by the extreme case of the recent replay that was posted on youtube.
I also noticed that if you get high wind on race 1 of a combo it seems to follow on until the next track change, all the races last night were with very high wind, it would not be so bad if it was just 1 race every now and again but this seems to be not the case.
I just think it needs sorting as last night half the grid left the server and moved on which I think just proves we have a problem, and you can say it's the same for every driver which it is but we race LFS for enjoyment but this is not enjoyable, it's very frustrating as the wind is so unpridictable it becomes a chore.
EDIT : +1 for the CAP Danowat - I say 30kph as this would give clean races hopefully
