If so are you suggesting that everyone would have to start from scratch even Platinum and Titanium Racers from STCC servers which would render 3/4 of your servers redundant during the first couple of weeks as no one would have access to them due to no licence, IMO Gold from STCC should have immediate access to the second tier and Platinum and Titanium possibly full access from the start.

I voted for a seperate licence system as far as points are concerned but as far as access is concerned could the above or simular be implemented from the start.

If this is not the case you may have to run all servers with the FOX from the Off due to the amount of racers trying to gain access as I believe this will be a resounding success possibly to the detriment of your STCC servers to a certain extent.

Good luck with the balancing act but it's probably best just to jump in and adjust as we go to suit can't wait myself - I'm like a kid whose Birthdays have come all at once

Becky any chance of silver and higher automatically gaining entry to second tier servers from the off as in cross migration from STCC (or is this already planned)

It's just otherwise at the start the FOX server will be a nightmare just to get onto and your other servers will be unused until racers gain their respective licences.

PS. have you considered duel bottom tier as in the STCC 1a and 1b - as one could run FOX and the other MRT although the FOX mabe the favourite the MRT does have a following also and i'm sure both servers would be a great success

Totally agree SamH, I have personally been racing the Fox and MRT recently and although the MRT is harder to control it's not that bad after a little practice and on any of the SO tracks its a complete Blast The trick is to go to an established server and ask for a decent set up then you will find it alot easier to control with decent settings.

PS. MRT would work with 5 min Qualifier then race

infact incorporate a qualifier session after track change for all single seater classes

I know what you mean Al but any smaller and ingame shots just look like a black car IMO

Master port is now selectable in cfg.txt (29339 or 8080)

How do you select this exactly ?

Do you go into the cfg.txt file and just edit it or something else i'm not aware of.

Just wondering as i'm with tiscali and cannot connect between 4pm and 11pm due to port blocking and traffic shaping, hopefully this may cure some of the problems

But the File size issue is all to do with algorithms within the program that transforms your image fron one size to the other - Would'nt you agree

Whatever means you use on a computer to enlarge or reduce files it never works out exacly correct this is due to the way in which the program that you are using works as it will always lose something in the process.

Point taken Gunn I stand corrected but my post just outlines the true mathmatics to the problem the difference you are stating in the example above must be to do with compression from 1024 to 512 as I take it the original Photoshoped Image was possibly 2048 reduced to 1028 and then 512, compression not being perfect gives the inconsistancies in the file sizes.

Gunn I think you missed understood BBman's post what he is saying is that the file size of 1024 x 1024 image is four times larger than a 512 x 512 so a file size of 100kb @ 512 becomes a 400kb File @ 1024 therefore
the cost to the dev's for traffic would be 4 times as much hence the suicide comment

Even Worse a 2048 x 2048 is 16 times larger than a 512 x 512 image = 1.6mb

Just a quick tip to do with skin resolution - when saving skins to jpeg make sure that DPI (dots / Inch) is set to 72 and not 300 as this will keep the file size down.

A DPI of 300 is used in Digital Photos etc When anything above 72 DPI for online use has no effect as 72 DPI is optimum for your monitor output.
