Quote from TyresHot :Thanks for your work,i am sure you will do it better.

is that setup zip file upgrading whenever a new setup comes?

a good question, please ask it on the english say what board on our site and Palee or Gergo will answer it, I am not sure about this, I am not the webmaster

but you can easily check by downloading and checking the latest date of the setups included.

Quote from HorsePower :What counts IMHO is the quality of the setups that can be loaded from inferno's site. And here I have to say that they are often hard to drive and only good for hotlapping.

But they are also a good starting point for the creation of own (race) setups. So the setup-field from inferno is really an important part of LFS!

obviously only good for hotlapping, as they are WR setups, a fast car is loose, which is hard to drive.
however I completely agree with you, for the general average driver these aren't of much help, but as you also state a good starting point and it isn't hard to adjust a couple of settings to make it last longer and easier to drive ( I always do).

We could have made setup uploading open for the whole community, but that would have only resulted in 100's of crap setups uploaded for each combo and only 4-5 really useful ones.
Nevertheless I still support the idea to give upload rights to people who feel they are creating good and useful setups, but you have to understand that this can only be open for a selected and small number of individuals, who have a good reputation in sim racing/LFS.

I would welcome any volunteers who feel they can contribute to the setupfield in a really positive way, by adding nice setups. drop a pm to me, or a note in our forum and let us know what you could add to setupfield.

Quote from TyresHot :stars are to rate my complaints.

1.you entitle

2.lfs is a very successful simulation, and a good designed nice apperanced setup station suits. My suggestion is to make is better.

3.i have no idea to make it easier but its clear it can be much easier.its my opinion.

4.you entitle

Thanks.

2. to make stg better is not a suggestion, it is a request, by suggestions I meant ideas, constructive ideas

3. nothing constructive here either, sorry

we cannot make something better if we don't have specific ideas, your problems are too general, we could do and change things, but they might make things even worse, so there is no point currently.

Improvement suggestions are always welcome in our forums or at the say what board, if it is a good idea, we will try to implement it.

there have been requests to have the possibility to download all the setups in one zip file, it has been done as well.

Quote from TyresHot :hi racers !

i really hate inferno's setup station BECAUSE ;

*** > pages load very slow
* > poor design
*** > really not easy to find the set you need
** > crashes happening sometimes

Great jobs are going on under this topic.THANKS!

what are the stars all about?

1. that's a valid point, we have hungarian servers, bandwidth is not the best for foreign countries
2. so what? isn't a webdesign contest
3. suggestions welcome, but how can someone make a setup easier to find than having all the cars and tracks listed and you only have to click the appropriate field to see all the uploaded setups for the specific combination. if you move the pointer upon one of the mines, it also shows the combo in a tooltip style, so I really don't get your point.
4. probably the same issue as in no.1

The real thing, David Coulthard in a 2002 F1 McLaren. Pulls 4g's at 160mph. Also seems to take the curbs much smoother that most cars in racing sims do.

nice videos, funny how the driver has the legs in the cockpit, but has no arms and steers with telekinesis pretty cool stuff blending racing games with other ideas

I played the ctdp mod as well and didn't notice the legs before

the idea itself was really good, it could have been the best possible of comparison of both sims. what is a better basis than having two supposedly identical cars to be compared? (ok, having the same track as well)

however they just did a vague review, instead of going into deep technicalities of both setup and physics.

I tried both BMW-s, I liked the LFS one better, no wonder, LFS physics simulate weight shifting and tyre physics way better and more detailed.

One thing I am sure about is that the two default setups differ in many ways, they could at least have made an effort to adjust the settings to be similar in the restricted way it was possible, of course LFS suspension and differential settings aren't that detailed and also the ECU setting is missing, but the main things like susp stiffness, ride height, tyre pressure, camber, gear ratios and steering options could all have been matched in a pretty good way.
Now wouldn't that have given a much better clue on where the two sims differ?

Shame on ASS for claiming to be a sim magazine and not caring about such basic things.

Quote from tristancliffe :So heat cycles would be cool - prepare tyres during warmup for the race, perhaps even save tyres so that multiday events (qual on Saturday, race on Sunday) can be catered for, with the prepped tyres (or the qually tyres) being ready for the race.

ever played f1gp from microprose in the early 90's? it had tyre sets simulated if I remember correctly, so you had to choose which set you wanted to use in practice, qualy and race.

Of course simulation wasn't very detailed, but this added to realism, gosh did I play a lot with that game with the keyboard. I used to handicap my car to give the AI a chance, they still never beat me though

as a good old song goes: who the f**k is Failure?!?

ps: sorry no offense, but I really have no clue who he is, I know the other two though and I've been into LFS for a few years now

Quote from Vain :3. Increase front ARB/decrease rear ARB. This decreases understeer, but also increases oversteer.

are you sure on this? did something change in the setup effects since S1?

yesterday I was solving excessive corner exit oversteer (on the fox) by reducing the rear anti rollbar, according to your suggestion, with this I would have had even more oversteer.

was this only a typo by you, or you really did experience it this way?
as far as I know in all sims more front ARB results in more understeer, more rear ARB results in more oversteer. Also more ARB is used to even out tyre load over the two sides of the car, but I haven't experienced this to be working for me yet.

I've never heard James Allen, so I would listen to your version of it. By the way don't worry about your voice, I was really surprised how professional you sounded despite not doing this before at all. so good job and keep it up! I am hoping to be included in the next one myself, I sent my entry form this morning...

Quote from Sternendaal :I havent tweaked a thing, and it felt very good. And who says $imbin has it 100%?

generally when reading forums I see people moaning about bad ffb and such in ISI games, then the more experienced ISI-ers tell them that they need to change this and that (with notepad in a config file!) to make the ffb thus the car feel good.

though I don't make a fuss about ffb as I turn it off as soon as I see an isi game and it works ok, I played GTR and GTL without it and I enjoyed it, but I can't help the feeling that it doesn't feel quite right. LFS did the first time I tried it with the KB, ISI games are very different, enjoyable, but not in the same way as LFS.

what annoys me in ISI games (especially in rfactor) is that apparently you can tweak settings/physics/stuff for it to feel alright. but LFS is just good right out of the ZIP file.

I tried the CTDP 2005 mod for rfactor and the first thing I turned off was the headshaking at high speeds. of course there was no option for that, you have to tweak a file with notepad.

also the ISI Barcelona track supplied with the new patch is very different from the Simbin versions and that's strange. why can't they recreate a track realistically if they get the rights for it?

Quote from Greboth :I signed upto msn in 1999 with the email address [email protected], then changed it to [email protected] etc through the years but about 2001 i changed my email address to the one i have now which still starts greboth_ but now i dont need to change every year.

I always felt it was kinda stupid to stick your age or a date after your login/nick whatever. years go by quickly you may notice

and what have you put after greboth_ ? 2xxx? :P

anyways I don't mind using realnames, use it in GTR and GTL anyways, I have my real name entered in LFS as well on the info page, so if you check my LFS world stats you can find my name there.

btw, csurdongulos hasn't been taken on any forum either...yet. dunno why though

Quote from wabbit :FYI:

Ive got a weird issue with Test Patch 20 (and below).

Id say nearly 20% of the time when hotlapping, i go to save the lap and LFS returns a message saying "replay is not being recorded" This used to happen alot more if i didnt go back to the main menu before starting each hotlap. But now it doesnt matter if i close LFS then open it again. It doesnt happen all the time which is going to make it harder to solve i spose.

* I can get this issue on any of the test patches ive downloaded
* Ive changed the "Single Player Replay Save" options = no fix
* It also happened before i used the test patches
* Ive downloaded a fresh copy of LFS = didnt solve it either

don't pit when hotlapping. I got this when I pitted and then went on hotlapping during the same session. Don'T know if this "feature" was meant to be this way by Scawen, but for me pitting was the cause for this.

I see, but you know, based on the specifications of the PSU and the requirements of the VGA my PSU wouldn't be sufficient for this card, but it definitely is. This is what's bugging me...

Quote from DEVIL 007 :Seems 30A is more correct info:
http://sg.vr-zone.com/?i=3646

I have written oriiginally in my post 30A but I thought its really too much so I have changed ot towards 25A but it seems the X1900 series from ATI are really hungry.

I have a Chieftec HPC-420-302-DF powering my ATI x1900 GT (and a prescott, also quite power hungry), the specs state it has 15A at +12V1 and 18A at +12V2, now that seems to be a bit narrow I guess, however my system is absolutely stable, no freezes whatsoever. Or should the V1 and V2 Ampers be added together, which would make 32A and would be enough?

what do you guys think?

Quote from mike20002 :If you are starting from scratch to make a good setup for a track, do you use race_s as default or do you start tweaking from something else?

Why not have a zero/normal button for setup parameters...

if you don't have anything, try to start from race_s. the default setups are basically the zero/normal button

if you want something else to start from, try our setupfield in my signature.

no offence, but it was quite hard to understand your post correctly, no wonder it was misunderstood. your phrasing didn't really reflect the irony you wanted to bring over with the whole post and it wasn't very comprehendable either, needed a few reads if it hadn't been for the 2nd line where you stated that this should be considered a funny post I would have taken this as a stupid request as well but anyway, anyone who wants something like this, has netkar pro

Quote from J.B. :*gasp* I hope you're not serious.

if you'd speak Hungarian you'd know that it's true the two guys at RTL at least can provide some actual facts concerning the race, have some background knowledge, the Hungarians are only guessing and making up stupid theories about the absolutely obvious, but as they are so stupid they don't even realise the obvious...

what's the matter with Alan Jones? he is the former F1 driver, right? oh no wait, I meant John Watson, who was paired up with Ben Edwards in good old Eurosport times when they still showed F1 from friday practise session till the race live. I miss that so much, those two were really good on making the commentary interesting. Here in Hungary we have two arseholes covering the race, they are so stupid, I bet they are much worse than your James Allen!

Although recently an ex sim racer (GPL champion, Gábor Wéber, he is racing touring cars nowdays in the hungarian championship) is pairing up with one of the arses, he is quite ok, has decent technical knowledge, but he is not the commentator type really, although he has improved quite a bit since the start.

I wish I had a channel to watch F1 in English...even the German guys at RTL are better, although I really dislike Heiko Wassers' voice...german guys should know why

Quote from -Willi- :Is there a reason why LFS always switch back from fullscreen to windowmode while browsing serverlist? Is there a way to deactivate this?
It's a little bit annoying on 3 screens (matrox th2g - 3840x1024). Fullscreenmode is perfect to view, all information on center screen except for serverlist. Window for serverlist is stretched over all 3 screens

switching the option windowed mode off before clicking display server list should do...
