Quote from Jakg :....

the fact that he didn't give you a few dolla over your price would be enough to show you that you were done. you made some good point and i agree. insurance in the uk is a tricky thing. you are required to have it to drive on the roads. but you get penalised for claiming from it. the thing that always got me was is that surely insurance should be to cover the driver and not the car. insurance is one of the reasons i choose not to drive. i'd much rather spend my money on titty bars.
you should see the state of the insurance companies over here in NI. the whole country is an insurance blackspot. :/

Quote from Jakg :Because I'm not sure how it works elsewhere, but in the UK if you make a claim your insurance goes up as well (even if it wasn't your fault).

I.E. when my wingmirror was damaged, I could of gone through my insurance - he'd of paid a lot more through increased premiums and lost no claims, the approved body shop would of charged a million pounds for a tiny job, I'd of been without my car for several days and my insurance would of increased as well.

Instead, I got a second hand mirror on eBay for £25, swapped over the covers and glass in 10 minutes, he drops me the cash and were sorted...

So, you got your mirror ripped off, and you had to then go and find a replacement for a part you didn't break? and then fit it yourself. did you charge him for your time? seems you were shafted bud. why couldn't the guy find the part himself? after all, he broke the original. you have to remember, not everyone is mechanic (or have much knowledge on car repairs).
Klutch is right though, why have insurance if you do not use it? that's why it's there. that's why you pay a premium.

your exit from the drift had snap. so it wasn't smooth at all. you didn't drift the whole corner either. maybe take a higher entry and apex late. then maybe you will make the whole corner (with less power might i add).

This is a pretty good testament to the guy right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6xsKsJqVyg

Massive influence on me and surely millions of others. I first bought effects pedals for my bass because he used them. I first bought a double bass because he used one. Pretty gutted at the moment.

great band. Mix master mike is something else. the guy started out by scratching to tape decks. one with the belt removed.

Quote from Bose321 :I honestly don't get that.

First of all the Thrustmaster is not super expensive.

Second of all, the more expensive Fanatec, Thrustmaster and perhaps even FREX wheels are for enthusiasts. The G25 is just an entry wheel if you like racing games. Maybe a wheel does not make you faster, but that's how the world works, isn't it? A 500USD PC runs a game fine, but people still buy PC's 3x that amount to run the same game. It doesn't make you play better.

And honestly the difference between the wheels are larger than you might think. You should really try anything else than a Fanatec to 'experience' it to be honest.

although i agree. but just to add, it's not just Ferrari that win races. even a DFP is still good enough to get you racing online. and that's what truly matters. I think you said in another thread that it's best to buy what you can afford. I think this is also true here. I believe it's better to do great on good gear than it is to do good on great gear.
most people don't buy expensive computers to just play one game.

....but the G25 is still a good wheel. Not the best on the market, but it still enables you to drive and win. and that's all that really matter isn't it?

I don't like averages when looking at stats. we need the lowest fps. that's when the card/processor struggles and that's where it all counts.

Quote from Matrixi :Even ancient AMD Phenoms beat Bulldozers in gaming use. Mid-spec Intels annihilate it.

So, bulldozer performance isn't good, that means it must be power efficient atleast? Nope.

It's a horrible architecture. Cheap, but horrible.

looking at those pics, the question thisnameistaken should be asking is "do I play Star Craft?"
in some scenarios, a skoda will out perform a ferrari (ice racing). that doesn't mean the ferrari is shit does it?

btw speaking of ssds the crucial m4s have just gone down in price quite considerably making them really really interesting

I think it's about 68p per GB in the uk now. not bad at all.

Quote from E.Reiljans :It's kind of fascinating you say that, because so did you.

N-E-way........
Quote from MadCatX :See? That's why I never ask for an advice on the Interwebs, I don't feel like turning my problems into a flamewar fuel.

If you're not already up to speed with the Llano architecture and you don't feel like googling it up, Bulldozer:
- Is a real 8-core CPU
- Has 4 modules with 2 cores per each
- Each module has a shared L2 cache and FPU. The shared FPU becomes a bit of a bottleneck only when both cores want to execute a 256 bit long SIMD instruction at once (today only AVX is like that)
- It scales much better than Intel's HT, with about 80% effectivity of what a full-blown 8-core CPU would do.
- It works best when accompanied by a Bulldozer-aware CPU scheduler. It doesn't really help the performance, but it helps to lower the power consumption a lot. Windows 8 seems to have such a CPU scheduler.

Bottomline: If you're looking to save as much money as possible and you don't build your life around dominating 3DMark leaderboards, Bulldozer it not as bad a choice as some "experts" here would like you to believe. It has quite poor instruction-per-cycle ratio though, so some unoptimized single thread apps won't run as well as they do on SNB's or even older Phenoms.

Lets not turn this thread into something about you ok? make your own thread and i'll go there and call you all sorts of wonderful things. you've now made two posts that help nobody.
nothing nice to say? then STFU. simples...

get over yourself. help the guy or simply **** off.

EDIT, Even if the bulldozers are as bad as people said, swap it for a high end phenom. I've been using the 550 (duel core) and it's only really starting to show its age. still AM3+ so you could drop the latest chips into it further down the line. The reason for so much ram is that I'm thinking you'd like to dabble with ableton and the likes. Ram+cpu are important for that aspect.

I didn't read much of this thread. but sticking to the opening post, i'd go for this (pic attached). unless you have more than one monitor, there's no real need for more than one GPU. I'm also assuming you can use your current hard drives.
so, CPU= 8 cores,
GPU = Enough to play todays games.
Ram = 16gb DDR3

Mobo = supports all of the above.

Quote from -NightFly- :Well almost all of the public places are covered with wi-fi, and even some of the buses and trains have built-in wi-fi with them....unless you go into woods or out of town somewhere, there is no need for that actually.

Not all countries have the same coverage. I live in the uk, and there is little/no wifi hotspots. the buses over here are just that, buses. no wifi either. I wonder if the wifi coverage is better in Brazil... So, my point still stands.

if you had a smartphone, you could have created a wifi hotspot and connected said netbook to tinternetz. netbooks don't have GPS and such helpful devices. great for tracking progress when cycling, walking, stalking. not to mention the built in cameras too. it's a bit awkward holding a netbook up to take a picture.
