@Crashgates link....

While most people can understand the morality (or lack of it) written about in that piece, there is a great(er?) number of people, those who are generally more affluent and haven't had to (or are likely to) endure hardship like those written about, that would state that is exactly what needs to happen.

If the cons manage to wangle their way into power come Friday morning, I'll be seriously looking into emigratting to a different country.

The Lib-Dems will have my vote tomorrow, I couldn't vote for any of the others.

Poorer?, as a whole maybe (not me personally, I've never been as well off as I am now), but poor?, not by a long chalk.

I guess growing up as one of thatchers children, on (and below) the breadline gives me a different outlook on things like poverty.

What you need to remember is that people are allowed different views, your view isn't the be all and end all.

49% of me says, don't vote, why bother, 51% of me fears that if I don't vote, we'll be under tory rule at the end of next week, and IMO, that would be the worse thing that could happen to this country.

So whats left, Labour?, not with GB at the helm, and the possibility of Mandelson becoming PM in the future, Greens?, waste of time, Nuclear power is the future, we don't need this bunch of hempseed chomping hippies in power.

BNP?, hardly a political party, more like a legalised terrorist organisation, removing people, regardless of their contribution to the country on the basis of ethnicity is completely mental, believe me, there are PLENTY of british whites that need kicking out first.

So all that does is leave Lib-Dem, the biggest problem is with Lib-Dem is they always come across as a bunch of limp wristed, PC social workers.

Whatever happens, the next few years are going to be tough, regardless of who "wins"

Things will probably get very interesting in the next few day, as AndRand states, many airlines have sent planes up for test flights, with no problems.

This, combined with the fact that many airlines are stating they will go bust if it continues, will make it a bit of a torrid time for the airline safety board.

Who makes the call?, surely if there is even just a slight chance that the ash cloud could cause problems then thats enough to warrant the flying ban?, or do "WE" just accept that this is one of the dangers in flying?.

Certainly not an easy call to make.

Quote from Jakg :I'm not asking if I should or shouldn't do it - i'm simply asking what combination of discs and pads you'd recommend for road use.

Discs - OEM
Pads - EBC or similar

Jak, what problems are your current brake discs and pads giving you that you feel you need to improve them?

FFS Blueflame, are you REALLY that dumb?.

Read up about Speedbird 9, the BA 747 that flew through a cloud of volcanic ash in Indonesia.

Also, while you are at it, read about high altitude winds and jetstreams, the winds at 20'000 feet are NOTHING like the winds at ground level.

And THIS is the little fella causing all the agro.....

On a related note r.e. the Indonesian incident......

Quote :Although the airspace around Mount Galunggung was closed temporarily after the incident, it was re-opened days later. It was only after a Singapore Airlines 747 was forced to shut down three of its engines while flying through the same area nineteen days later (July 13), that Indonesian authorities closed the airspace permanently and re-routed airways to avoid the area, and a watch was set up to monitor clouds of ash.

I don't think you can see it, at least the pilots of the 747 that flew into a big cloud of it didn't.

Not the first time its happened, A large section of Indonesian airspace was closed (permanantly?) due to the same thing, that time a BA 747 lost all 4 engines and had a shotblasted windshield by flying through it, luckily nothing of that sort has happened this time.

Its just a cheap, Chinese wank mobile with an MG badge slapped on it.

They must have pulled something out of the bag to get it passed the NCAP test (if it has done), as Chinese wank mobiles have done notoriously bad in the past.

I guess if the price is right it will probably sell, but its still a wank mobile.

And there hasn't been a "proper" MG for a dogs age, but by damn they've slapped their badge on some shite cars in the past, MG Maestro?, MG Montego? LMAO

Quote from Shotglass :i presume you consider yourself to be part of those 10%?

No, I have bad habits like the rest of people, and I am in no way the "perfect driver", however, I'd imagine considering I had to my full bike license test only a few years ago, and the fact that I am also a motorbiker, and cyclist, the "rules of the road" are clearer in my head, hence my call for compulsary retests.

Quote from Tomba(FIN) :Fag. Why don't you just say that rich people can't drive. Manufactuer have nothing to do with it. Can't understand you people.

LOL

You don't have to be "rich" to drive a BMW, Audi or Merc, any joe can get one!!!.

Certain makes tend to attract a certain "level" of person, its just the way it is

Sweeping generalization?, yeah, of course, but does that make the statement any less true?, nope.

The vast majority of BMW drivers don't indicate.

Quote from DevilDare :Safe or unsafe, seeing a 75+ year old elderly behind a wheel of a new BMW M3 is both hilarious and painful.

(Yes, you do get those)

BMW's (and to a lesser extent, Audi's and Merc's) are an automatic signal that the driver probably has no clue how to drive.

Sweeping generalization.....

Young drivers, are on the whole, dangerous, they all think they are tasty drivers and the normal rules of the road don't apply to them.

Old drivers are, on the whole, blind and slow, therefore dangerous.

Which is more dangerous?, no idea, about the same to me.

I'd say 90% of drivers, regardless of age, are CRAP, the amount of people who have no idea of lane discapline, roundabouts, rights of way, indication and just general road sense is unbelieveable.

Compulsary retests for EVERYONE, every 5 or so years is the only way to go.
