You've also got to remember that amongst the console franternity, wheels are very much in the minority.

Quote from JJ72 :But formula 1 is a genre where some realism is important, because the cars are so fast, if it doesn't response as it should, like with the steering lag in NFS shift or GRID, it becomes pretty undrivable with a wheel.

Maybe to you, but you've got to realise that "hardcore" sims are a niche within a niche, they aren't that big a market, especially on consoles, so the dev houses need to make something that will sell in the greatest number, and an arcade / semi-sim will sell MUCH more than a hardcore sim.

People will still get enjoyment out of it, obviously not so much the people here.

Driving games don't HAVE to be super realistic to be fun you know, not matter what the "sim nazi's" would have you believe.

This is the point I am making, not everyone can benifit from better/more cushioning, infact, going to a lighter, less cushioned, less supported shoe could be very benificial for some people.

You can cause just as much damage running in a shoe that is over cushioned and or overly supportive, infact, theres a school of thought that says running in cushioned shoes lets you heel-strike, when infact you should be mid/fore foot striking.

Bottomline, if you are going to be doing any length of running, get to a specialist running shop, or sports pediotrist and get your gait analysised and get something that suits you.

"Better" is a bit subjective, what may be better for you, may not be better for someone else.

Quote from atledreier :I just wish I could go to my employer with that line.... Somehow I don't think that would go down very well.

Which is the beauty of being self employed.

Can't believe this thread is still rumbling on, one day "you people" will get the message, but I am not holding my breath.....

Bang on, most GP's aren't interested in these types of "injuries"

Quote from wheel4hummer :The LFS Forum is not a medical clinic, and even if anyone on here were a doctor, they would not be able to do tests across the internet. To be honest, it's a fairly bad idea to come to the LFS Forum, or any forum for that matter, with a health issue. You could end up getting scared and think that you're going to die, when there is a minor problem. But, even worse, you could end up thinking something is minor when it is a major disease or condition that needs to be treated as soon as possible. You should go to your doctor who is trained to do doctor stuff, and who can actually perform blood tests, etc.

Disagree.

There are people on here with experiance of these sorts of injuries, also, I frequent a few running sites that are littered with posts like the OP's, with plenty of usefull advice in them.

Its not like he's got severe chest pains, tingling in his arms and pain in his jaw now is it.

Shin splits is just a catch all term for any pain in the front / side of the lower leg, it doesn't actually "mean" anything specific.

No, its not going to happen.

Shins splints would probably manifest in the front of the lower leg, not the calf.

You may just have tight calves, and need to stretch them out a bit (I use a foam roller), do a google for calf stretches and calf strengthing excersices.

I get bad calf tightness and pain when I run over 12 miles, and that because my calves aren't strong enough.

Also, considering your age, I wouldn't put growing pains out of your mind either, I remember in my late teens getting shocking growning pains in my legs.

Could also be a gait issue, so if you aren't wearing supportive enough footwear, that will cause problems too.

Quote from prOmo_LTU :Thanks Scawen.

I think the one thing that we are all waiting for is a date, not like hour or minute cleare, but just aprox date, whene we could expect VWS or even whole s3,that could make our day!

No, the last release date for the Scirocco was seriously off, so I doubt they'll make that mistake again.

Unless you are driving mega miles then it won't make a huge difference.

I went to Bruges at the weekend, did 700 miles, and my car returned 10.6 litres to 100 miles, which works out at 42.9mpg, diesel in the UK is £1.15 a litre, so that journey cost £85.33.

In a petrol car the same journey would be £104.4 (based on an assumption of 35mpg), so even on a long journey its not too much, the savings become even less on a short journey.

Diesel : 12.19p per mile
Petrol : 14.91p per mile

Plus newer diesels are a bitch if they go wrong (and they do, alot)

I really don't understand why people feel they need to "stay" or "leave" LFS, its a piece of software, if you are bored with it, play something else.

I've not played LFS in at least a year, am I bored with it?, yes, does it bother me?, no, am I still interested in the developement?, of course, I wouldn't be here otherwise.

I see alot of this these days, people who feel that the admission price of a piece of software somehow gives them vasted interest in the product, makes them feel as its their product, makes them not only over defensive, but also seems to make them lose any type of rational thought over said product.

Its so simple, if you are bored, play something else, I really can't understand why that is so hard to comprehend.

You'll ruin it, so the less money you spend on the first car, the less money you'll end up chucking down the drain.
