Quote from Gener_AL (UK) :Its been very Interesting watch R2R and R4R work together/ Race together and seeing the fruits of their labour on/off the track.

Keep it up

I reccomend these servers to anyone looking for some seriously solid racing, with a bucketload of good vibrations look no further then the OP.

edit

*also never new that the AA demo server was under your wings, been racing there too a little recently* Nice demo races there too

THX mate, the relations we have in the cooperation have nothing to do with team work, we are like a family with 3 principles, Friendly, Fair and Fun.

Dailycious Series Part3!

After a great racing year in 2009 we had a well deserved winter break (nothing worse than tired admins to manage a server), during that time we’ve seen LFS take the arcade road, the much awaited patch is creating a strange ambiance which is making the community lose its sim racers. So before everyone leaves we are going to try to make a small contribution to sim racing, so the idea is to restart dailycious for 10 weeks before the summer. This time it will be a little different, we have spent the winter creating a close cooperation between Ready2Roll & AirAttack & Rasta4Racing & Eteam (more on this later…), so 4 servers will run daylicious, & AA demo Racing, & R4R TBO/GTI, & R2R GEN Racing and a 4th server which we will call & R2R GEN PRO for now. The idea here is to have one team dedicated to each server running dailycious. The series will be open for everyone as always, the racing will be organized with sim racing spirit and with different levels of difficulty, races will have different length and many cars will be used… We will use the safety handicap (GTi/TBO, GEN) for driver under the 70% (!safe), meaning that 5kg extra mass will added for each 5% under the 70% to unsafe drivers, new drivers on our servers will be attributed a safety index of 70% when they join the first time, so it will be up to them to maintain it to avoid handicap. All servers stats will be reset, everyone will have equal chances at the start and you will be able to drive all cars with no licenses restrictions to drive them…

The & R2R GEN PRO server will be a bit different, we have been talking to many racers like us about using realistic settings and respecting wheel turn, inside view, H-shifter and manual clutch. But many say that they don’t use those settings because almost no one use them and it would mean being slower and that is not acceptable for most of us, so we want to start an experiment and use this server to do that. It means that the server will be restricted for those settings, interested racers will have to register and agree to a short contract to enter our Sim Club, only then they will be able to race on this server, others will be allowed to spectate. The server will have its own stats to allow us to compare them with others who use the same settings… Note that this server will be closely watched and replays will be saved, so in case of cheating, exclusion from this server will be definitive, no second chances or appeal will be possible. So if you think you are hardcore enough and want to try something different, follow this link (first week will stay public to give time to everyone to try it): http://www.ready2rollteam.com/ ... wtopic.php?f=67&t=674

Servers descriptions:

& AA Demo Racing: Managed by Air Attack team. Here we want to enter the demo scene and offer its racers some more serious racing on weekly basis. It will run the 3 allowed cars on BL1 and BL1R with 2 Dailycious races of 20min + 1lap every Monday's with reversed grid for the second. The last week of dailycious all 3 cars will be used, one per race. Events will be every Sunday's and a minimum of coper license will be necessary to enter the race.

Sunday's
Qualifications: 18:30 UTC (25min)
Race1: 19 :00 UTC (20min+1lap)
Race2: 19:30 UTC (20min+1lap)

& R2R GEN Racing: Managed by Ready2Roll team. Here we will run 5 categories of cars GTL/GT2/GT1/FBM/FOX, Each category will run twice during the 10 weeks. One category per week and 1 tracks per week and we’ll have 2x20min + 1lap (No pit and with reverse grid for the second race) dailycious race every Monday's.

Monday's
Qualifications: 18 :30 UTC (25min)
Race1: 19 :00 UTC (20min+1lap)
Race2: 19:30 UTC (20min+1lap)

& R2R GEN PRO (Sim Club): Managed by the cooperation. So here we want to start a little experiment to see if we could get a group to like some more realistic ways of racing, by that we mean H-shifter, Manual clutch, original wheel turn and inside view. I know some will say that not everyone has a G25 and this was true a 2 or 3 years ago, but by now most ppls have one or similar. The server will be able to control things like the H-shifter, Manual clutch and inside view. Here we will use 10 of the 12 cars with H shifter, UF1, XFG, XRG, LX4, RB4, FXO, XRT, FZ5, UFR, FZR, with one car and one track per week. The server will be ''private'', but it will remain open for everyone to try during the first week of training (with easy UF1), we’ll do 8 laps sprint races with pit during the week and 40min + 1lap + pit Dailycious race every Wednesday's… Here there will be no safety handicap or minimum license to enter the events because registered racers will be considered as respectable sim racers…

Wednesday's
Qualifications: 18:30 UTC (25min)
Race: 19 :00 UTC (40min+1lap+pit)

& R4R GTI/TBO: Managed by Rasta4Racing. Like we’ve seen in many occasion TBO has ups and downs, so we will add the XFG and XRG which will give them 5 cars, Each car will run twice during the 10 weeks series. Here we will use only one car at the time and one track per week ending with 40min + 1lap + pit Dailycious race every Thursday's.

Thursday's
Qualifications: 18:30 UTC (25min)
Race: 19 :00 UTC (40min+1lap+pit)

All races are automatically managed by Airio, so schedule will be respected and you will be able to join the second multi race events if you missed the first.

We are a big organisation and many of us will be racing most events, we hope you'll join the fun!

Quote from Asphalt Scream :I wish I was at home and not at work...
I always drive full manual and Im looking forward to test my skill in a server like this.
Do not feel guilty f people with different wheels or setting cannot enter; they have the whole LFS server list to choose from.

Is this server permanent or it is on only on particular times? Because I think I will not be able to try it until a couple of days.

All public for now (24/7), but registration to the sim club will be necessary when the series start ( soon), meaning only the club member will be able to race there.
No worry it is here to stay!

Quote from troy :Nice one, should be a fun server, I will surely visit it if I find the time.

Regarding the wheel turn thing, I'm running 540° for example, not because I feel like it's faster but because the forcefeeback motors are just getting too slow if I set it any higher. You can easily test this yourself, in theory the wheel should center itself out if you let it go after a slide but the motors are not strong/fast enough to do that on 720° (at least not on my g25, not sure if it's any different on other wheels). There was a nice comparison on youtube about that problem posted by Niels Heusinkveld but I can't find it right now, maybe somebody can help me out.

Not sure what I want to say with this post other then don't judge people just because the hardware is not up to the task you're asking from it. Hope I could make myself clear.

Loud and clear mate, it is controller ability vs linearity, long debate hehe...
I guess that's why logitech made the centring spring...

What I like so much from using those settings is that it reintroduce the human factor even for the best of us, everyone will miss a gear once in while, down shifting while braking has to be very precise and passing a car under braking has to be done so carefully, no dive bomb possible or you'll end up in an uncontrolled mess...even on the strait you notice that no one shift exactly the same which result in small difference in speed...

On a personal note, I suck terribly with H shifter and lost 2 sec everywhere, I guess it will take me months to get up to sequential level (if ever), but I love every minutes driving like this...
It is not do what you like, it is like what you do...small difference but it means the world to me!

THX for the great comments! it is music to our hears!

Quote from michele0676 :Is there a way to fix the speed of steering ?
An uman that using 720° with XFG cannot do the same steering speed of a 200° steer, or not ?

Yes you're right I think, reduce the original wheel turn by half and you double the speed of your reflexes...
No insim info is reported by lfs about the wheel, that said if you watch someone driving you can see if he uses small wheel turn...

It is a long time I want to do something like this, but because we couldn't restrict the servers I've waited, but now I feel we can do enough to make it interesting and if someone is stupid enough to chose our GEN PRO server to use the only arcade setting we can't control...so be it... nothing more to say than ''sad for him''...

THX for the your enthusiastic answers guys!

@mc: like I said, even if we manage to control the wheel turn with a filter based on insim info, ppls will still have the possibility to set the game at says 720 (the info which will be reported) and set the driver setting in windows to 320 or 360...so sadly not much we can do there.

That said, taking corners with one hand with a small wheel turn is a lot harder than with two hands ...

Update: Due to some confusion about the server settings, the server has been renamed to & R2R GEN H BOX

Little post to tell you that we are testing a new server dedicated to the H shifting cars, the server will be restricted to Manual axe clutch, H shifter and incar view and no button clutch, no shift macro and no auto gears will be possible… because not everyone has a G25 or similar those servers never have much success, but we think times have changed and many of us have one of those wheels by now, and there is no reason why sim racers shouldn’t have a place dedicated and restricted to those settings. Most importantly, you will be able to race and compare yourself to other racers with equal tools…

Only one thing, and I hope dev read this , the wheel turn can’t be restricted, it would be great if lfs could report some info on this (insim info)… and even then it would never be reliable because ppls would always have the driver settings to play with… We hope sim lover will have the fair play to respect this part of the settings, we can’t control or restrict it.

We are planning to build a ‘’sim club’’ around this server with a little series, so registration will be necessary, but in the mid time the server is public for everyone to play with…So I thought lets warn everyone J. At the moment we are trying the 12 cars (H shifter) we have, so expect combo’s to change often in the coming days.

THX to EQ Worry and Airio for giving us the tools to do this!

PS: To all racers without that kind of wheels, I know this is not friendly to you guys, but understand there are no reason for us to be punished, braking with H shifter in a pack of sequential is just mad… and believe me I am racing on lfs for a while and since two weeks that I have changed settings, I have the feeling I am rediscovering it all over again, this will get me by before S3 arrives and Hope others will share that with me!

More soon….Have fun!

Edit: The server has been renamed to ''& R2R GEN PRO''

Don't tell my wife, looks like I wasted some money again!

BTW the problem with the shifter seems to replicate by others too, was with a friend who owns one too last night and when i asked him to to activate the shifter, he did from it from options and it was not working, he had to do a succession of shift+G go spec then back in pit before he could join with a working shifter in the car, maybe you could test it to see if you get the same result? (something's fishy, but I don't think this is logitech's problem)

Quote from AndroidXP :Actually (according to a Logitech employee IIRC) setting the force to ~105% makes it act more linear as opposed to the non-linear 100% setting. This lack of forces in the middle of steering is a poor attempt by Logitech to prevent oscillation problems caused by the response lag of the FF motors, and setting the force to > 100% in the profiler counteracts this somewhat.

THX mate, this makes sense, it also confirmed my test, tho I am not so sure about linearity (more testing to do), it sounds like bad driver to me, bit like we had when the G25 came out...

THX for sharing Bose, I have 2 G25 in working order, one must have more than 400.000kms and still going strong, I never had that much problems controlling the car with it...so I guess I'll always have the option to go back to it ...

I'll wait a driver update and I'll use 105% for the time being, but if the noise increase I will RMA it anyway...
G27 - Weak FFB in the middle!
Framaris
S3 licensed
I'd like to ask a question to G27 users, I have bought one 4 weeks ago and I am having some troubles with it, checked the logitech and LFS forums, but I couldn't get a description of what I am experiencing.

First, FFB settings in driver are 100/0/0, no centring spring, I use win7 64bits, I respect wheel turn for each cars in LFS with FFB between 20 and 40 depending on the car. PC's is my business, so OS and drivers are properly installed and optimized. I have tested it with and without profiler (which I normally don't use)...

I have a very weak (almost non-existent) FFB in the middle of the wheel, about 5cm long, it is making two kinds of noises, a peep like a bird signing in the background when moving slowly in that zone (like when you are on the strait and doing small changes of direction), and does clac clac (knocking noise) every time i switch (fast) from left to right.
Ok noise is bad, specially when you invest for that reason, but I could live with it, the problem is that this weak FFB in the middle is becoming a real problem when you have to control the car with fast wheel motions, the steps between strong/weak/strong prevent me from being consistent and often ends up is a spin....I am not talking about a dead zone, there is no dead zone on it, it is just that the FFB don't seems to take effect on that +/- 5cm zone in the middle....

I have tried many settings to try to reduce this, two things seems to work moderately, 1) setting FFB in driver to 105/0/0 which ends up being non linear and 2) use a bit of centring spring which I hate with passion...

Now I was wondering if some of you are experimenting the same thing before I decide to RMA it. I gave it more than 4 weeks time to get use to it and in most cars I am 1,5 sec slower, I am already getting older I can't loose more speed due to the wheel...

I am also having an other strange problem, but I think it is more LFS related, I am loosing the shifter (in car) if I by mistake or not hit the shift+G keys (auto/sequential/shifter) and set it back to shifter, it keeps working in option/controller but not in the car any more, it seems stuck on the sequential. I can manage to regain it with pressing shift+G couples of times and go to pit and spec in a random way... I have to take he time to test this on a fresh LFS install to see if I can reproduce it...

thx for sharing!

Yeah sorry I got confused with expended desktop and span mode, The difference is that two spanned half-monitors are treated as one physical monitor which allows full screen for games on video...That said I use expended desktop with lfs in windowed mode and it seems to work quite ok for lfs since multimonitor support...

Since I always tank full and I drive 25.000 to 30.000kms a year I use other means to save some fuel, like having my tires a bit harder dan normal to reduce the contact patch and I use michelin energy tires which makes me save about 10% fuel when driving normally...
Framaris

Quote from danowat :Well, yeah, exactly, but just HOW much more consumption is the question.

Depend on the car, try to tank full and write down how many kms you did with it, then tank 3 times 20L and addition the kms you did with it, should give you the difference....
Framaris

Logically I would say that a 60L full tank is like the weight of a passenger (woman ) and an heavier car means higher consumption....that said I am lazy and always tank full...

Quote from dawesdust_12 :If you're using Vista/Windows 7.. you're SOL without using something like a TH2Go or SoftTH.

Essentially, the monitors need to be setup as a "span" mode. Something Vista and 7 took away, and the only way to do a span is with those mentioned items.

I don't get this?
It is not in the driver settings any more, but I do run dual monitor in span mode without problem in Win7 ultimate 64bit, I just select the span mode where you setup the resolution of the screen...or do you mean something else?

Well TVE, Ready2roll isn't dead yet, but we had a long period with busy servers where we have experimented a couples of things, so we are resting/hibernating and reflecting on previous experiences.
We are working on some new things and preparing the restart of Dailycious, next month it is one year anniversary for us, so expect to see us back around that time.

What make me sad is that years after years the group of arcade racers is getting bigger while the real sim racers are disappearing slowly.
No offence but it is all about unrealistic settings, exploiting physic's flows, cheats, points, licenses, multiclass, cruising and fast rotations, where are the guys who use to spend time on one track for the sake of improving their driving qualities?

If you organize something, ppls don't even take the time to read the rules properly, always asking questions which can be answered with reading the (f..king) manual or with a simple google search, many don't even know what is a blue flag any more... Is everyone becoming so lazy?

I don't want to give up on sim racing, it is the reason I am here and I will leave LFS before I start becoming an arcade racer.
I think LFS is more than a game, it is a hobby, it takes a long time to improve your driving and learning about the setup of the car, for that you need to love racing and a lot of dedication, so I will keep spending my time here with those guys...even if it means running a less populated servers till they finally returns...
