the 4870 puses more than a ****ing teraflop! are you out of your minds? the ps3 is already outdated. a gpu that costs 70 euros (the 3850) can play gears of war at 1280x1024 at 40fps! SEVENTY EUROS! (i'm referring to dougie.)

enjoy your 7800-based ps3 graphics, dougie. lol.

Quote from dougie-lampkin :PS3 is guaranteed to play every new game over it's lifetime, which has been stated as 10 years by Sony.

uuhhh...

...

you... do realize... that this means that for the 10 years that this machine will exist, its graphics will always be as good as they are... now. right?

and, right now, a moderate pc has way better graphics than the ps3. plus, the ps3's graphics can't get any better. the pc's graphics constantly get better.

Quote from tristancliffe :So? Are you saying that without forced induction no one had ever got that much specific output from a reciprocating engine? 270hp/litre.

give an example, cause i sure top out at a 105hp/600cc that the 2008 yamaha r6 outputs at 14K rpm...

Quote from tristancliffe :Must be good. No one had ever managed to get 700hp out of a 2.6 reciprocating engine before.... Or had they?

erm, tristan, it's non forced induction

it won't work...unless you emulate an entire x86 pc on the ps3, together with hardware T&L gpu and stuff

can't say that it can't be done,

but you can't say that you can't peel an apple using your eyelids.

...

yeah, the haddock analogy is better :/

2 pro AIs, ~40%

i get 40ish fps
but i am not sure vsync is off. there is no visual difference between 4xAA and 8xAA for me, so by going to 4xAA fps increases a lot
let's see cpu usage now

i dunno man... if you can trust it to be the same thing that is in the test you showed me, go for it.

i'd open it up and replace all caps i can with solid state ones. or at least higher quality.

Quote from kruuvi :PS3 cpu has 8 cell's, all with speed of 3.2GHz. You install Linux + Wine and you are able to play LFS very well, PS3 supports USB mice and keyboard tho.

ps3 has 1 'cell', which has 8 cores (SPE they call them), 7 are used on the ps3.

with that much money and time thrown at an idea, they could've manufactured an engine that runs on ****ing watermelon seeds.

ok then... i believe that since you are an engineer (electrical, ok, but still an engineer) then you can understand that if someone said:

"a lot of temperature"

you can very safely say that he doesn't know what he is talking about.

Quote from dougie-lampkin :It's not that I don't know anything about it, I know what I need to. I don't understand rocket science, but I have no desire to either, as I don't need to. Someone else's job is to learn and understand rocket science, and program rockets to do whatever they're supposed to be doing. Not mine. Therefore, learning rocket science is pointless for me. Same deal here.

all fine, except that your argument falls flat on its head if you remember that you made comments about something you yourself has admitted to not know a lot about.

first of all, you say 'every single thing'. that is your first mistake. i didn't suggest something like that. learning about GPFs so that you understand about memory protection is not 'every single thing'. 'one more thing', maybe.

why bother? well... first of all so that you don't reach to conclusions about things you know nothing about. if you bothered to read about this, you would know that accessing, or worse, modifying the content's of a program's memory is not something that can be easily bypassed. if it were, the first stray pointer would just garble everything in your computer.

in short, you have the skript kiddie attitude. (i know how to press edit to edit memory and it works, so why would i want to know everything about my pc, since i got this tool to do the work)

Quote from lovretta :And I've written it here ONLY to show that it is possible to lock wheels. Sh*t happens.

it frustrates me to no end when i read such NONSENSE.

'shit' did not happen. you made that shit. if you want to take praise for the good things you've done, you have to accept the opposite when you do something... well... shitty. If you do not, then praise loses significance. black/white, ying/yang, good/bad, duality and all that jibba jabba.

i've heard this so many times it has become a major nuisance.

- "i smashed into a wall because i took the turn too fast. well, shit happens."

no. that is not 'shit' happening. that is you doing an error. 'shit happening' is the wheel coming off even though you had your car serviced. 'shit happening' is not when you had control of the situation, but managed to cock it up because you were ignorant or just plain stupid.

if you feel like it, you are free to replace 'you' with 'someone' or 'anyone'

Quote from lovretta :You cannot judge someone (...) from a few forum posts

well, yeah. you can and in fact it is quite easy most of the time. not for the whole country, of course, but for a single person it is quite easy.

here let me give you an example... first, just tell me what do you study and/or work, so that i know what kind of example to give you.

Quote from dougie-lampkin :I know what they are, what they're used for and how to access and edit them.

access and edit... what? memory addresses? GPFs? what you say does not make any sense at all. memory contents? we are not talking about them.

Quote from dougie-lampkin :That's all I need to know

ah. that's your error. you think you know all you need to.

i think you have AF off, and i think AA off too. plus, you've chosen really simple areas. i expected most screenshots to be from the drag circuit.

as a cake topping, you do not know what does 'ignorant' mean exactly.
