Quote from hazaky :The physics works fine in all games, also using Ageia PhysX wich works fine for me.

why wouldn't it work? just install nvidia's drivers and unless you are on a slow singlecore celeron, your cpu will take care of the physics just fine.

Quote from hazaky : But, i gotta say that people are right about the noise ATI cards make. Im still not getting used to it because if i run Crysis for example, then it feels like i have a damn jet over here.

who cares about the noise the stock cooler makes?

accelero s1rev2 and two fans. end of story.

Quote from dawguk : shifting into 3rd at high revs unsettles many cars - heel and toe here keeps the car from lurching forwards -

what?

what car would do that when going from 5th to 3rd and braking?

also, quit applying racing techniques on public roads. it's not appropriate. if your suspension is so much ****ed then it would be better if you went and, you know, fixed the damn thing... not "downshift from 5th to 3rd".

Quote from (SaM) : Did you know that clutchless shifting actually works in LFS?

yeah
no strain if you don't hit it exactly. no grinding noises or destroyed gearbox

Quote from (SaM) : The reason it's known wide-spread is either from older friends or family members... or just because it makes you sound really cool if you say "I always double clutch revmatch while downshifting".

agreed

Quote from (SaM) : Rev matching is a whole another story though. That's a matter of saving the clutch.

extra points for perfect clutchless shift which puts even less strain on the drivetrain as everything is perfectly aligned for the duration of the shift. zero clutch wear zero synchro wear... (not that they wear down significantly under normal, or even harsh, use)

just try to imagine what would it be like in the forum, if there was a thread like this (and not only one) every time there is a newspost... and that there is a newspost every month (not even every week)

nope, not what i said.

looking at this thread

it's better the devs do not post news more often.

from 2 to 4GB, very few games have any significant fps gain (crysis, ~7%).
from 4 to 8, even less.

if there was too much nos but not enough fuel, then the oxygen that the nos provides would just go through. if there was more fuel, more oxygen would burn the additional fuel therefore producing even more heat.

that's what the physicist in me says, anyway

it is more than obvious that when comparing two things and talking about a specific parameter (in this instance amount of sticks of ram) it is implied that we keep the other parameters the same.

in this case, the number of sticks of ram changes, but everything else stays the same.

two sticks of ram in tight timings may be faster than four of the same sticks of ram if the chipset/mc can't run four sticks of ram at the same timings as the two sticks of ram.

is that clear now or do you still think i need schooling from a guy 12 years younger?

there have been instances where a 4x2GB system is slower than a 2x2GB system, mainly due to the chipsets/memory controllers not being able to run more sticks of ram with the same tight timings.

the performance difference in fps is nearly neglicible though, something like 1-2%

Quote from carey : The name doesn't exactly roll off the tongue (and it sounds even worst with the Jordie accent of one of the Motorsport UK commentators)

it's easy for me to pronounce it, since it's greek

you can pronounce it more easily as
hree-stoh-thoo-loo
χριστοδούλου
'th' as in 'the'

Quote from JO53PHS :As he said, efficiency does not equal speed. I think what he is trying to say is: Sure, they would code faster overall, but as for the amount of actual work done per person, one person coding is quicker, because he can just get on with it.

i made an error

fancy that

hyntty, the way bike gearboxes are made, there is a neutral between any two gears in sequence. the one between 1st and 2nd is the one you are supposed to use, ok.

for example, the early hornet, the cb600 has a rather easy false neutral between 5th and 6th

makes you shit your pants when you hear that GRRAAAANNG going 120mph

the majority of cars didn't have abs (now it is mandatory) airbags (now it is mandatory) crash testing (you get the idea) auto-choke

already you can't do much to damage the engine except for downshifting from 4th to 2nd going 90 or something funky like that

all cars now have a rev limiter. that alone is very limiting to how much you can mistreat the engine.

go bouncing off the limiter in 1st during july from stone cold (don't know how you would do that in mid july... underground garage i guess)

if you manage to do that for a while (that is, if you are such a cold hearted bastard or astronomicaly ignorant) you will still be left with a running engine.

if you do that with a wankel, think it will start the next time? the next next time?

anyway it's getting late, i hope you get the idea

i'd rather end my racing career then and there than obey a "crash pl0x k thnx!" order.

but that's just me

what goes on in the mind of someone who does that... i don't know and i'd rather not know.
