what does 'independent' cylinders mean, anyway!!!???
george_tsiros

the closest thing to a 'perfectly balanced' engine that i've heard of is honda's V5 in their older motogp bike that is actually a v4 with another single cyl engine stuck on its side.

what you are guys talking about, however, "5 cylinders all independed" sounds complete yahoo to me.

got an animated gif? something? anything? i can't seem to find anything online.

i really really hate to insist but if the mic on any camera is directional, even if you had a space shuttle launch behind it would barely pick it up :/

i am NOT saying that the engine is quiet. i am only saying that the fact you can't hear the heli doesn't say much.

besides, heli engines aren't particularly loud anyway.

well if that is a proper camera, it has a directional mic so that doesn't say much
can't see the vid tho

Quote from Shotglass :i dont and im pretty sure the f1 rods are lighter since theyll be made from stem cells or some other exotic ridiculously expensive material

how sure? keep in mind the rest of the engine is strictly regulated as to what materials it can use... (crank, crankshaft, valves, pistons, etc)

Quote from Shotglass :but did he get something as fat and heavy as 3 american backsides up into space and all the way to the moon and back?

he would, if you gave him a place to stand...

i'd say they weight the same. do you have some figures?

and the first engineer was greek so neener neener

meh i don't care... screw it :/

Quote from Shotglass :judging by the pics you can find of bent conrods via google the double t profile is placed just fine
by the looks of it f1 conrods use a completely different design approach to handling the bending forces and dont actually employ a double t profile as such

it's a H profile. the good ones have the || perpendicular to the axis of the crank

the usual ones have the || parallel to the axis of the crank

as a physicist i'd expect the good ones to have more rigidity

but i am not an engineer and specificaly not a metallurgy expert

i'd have to ask my father about this.

why cool?

120hp from a NA 600cc engine.

that's 200hp/l

the type R engine was heralded as a very efficient engine. 200hp out of 2l. hah.

what's that, m3 engine? 400hp out of 4l?
what's that, m5 engine? 500hp out of 5l?

what's that, quad turbocharged 16 cylinder bugatti veyron engine? 1000hp out of 8l? got your bloated ugly ass handed to you by a tiny fourbanger? (well ok, it doesn't output 1000hp. that is what goes to the drivetrain. the engine itself outputs 4000hp most of which goes to the radiators for cooling the engine. still, it just matches the specific output of the r6 engine)

offering help ?

i've seen that there are (we are) all sorts of people on the forum

racers, coders, graphists, modellers, mechanics, engineers, (physicists:shy...

how about we offer our help and our abilities to help the developers?

i do not know how... i haven't got the slightest idea how... all i know is that i see a potential for improvement from within the community

we specificaly compared the via nano with the intel atom. see:

Quote :
Quote from Shadowww :VIA makes pretty good CPU's, even better than Intel. Compare VIA Nano to Intel Atom.

the intel is far better if you consider performance to power consumption.
the via is faster, indeed.

i reply about the via cpu. not a via cpu. the intel. not an intel. i am talking about the aforementioned VIA Nano and intel atom. like shadowww.

and again, here
Quote from george_tsiros :we aren't saying that via is better than intel. we're saying that via's lowpowerconsumption cpu is faster than intel's atom. just that. notice what i said.

about the quoting, i do it because it is easier to read replies to specific parts of messages. just that.

i can not understand why you now talk as if i said that VIA's CPUs are faster than Intel's CPUs. i never said that.

Quote from GenesisX : Sure... go buy some cheap crap, because we know for a fact that cheap is better!

... what?

what the devs estimate will be in the next or a next release is not final. it's like thinking how to upgrade your computer... in a year.

wildly inaccurate and is more like a wish rather than planning.

not speaking because the devs have explained this to me, it's what i've found when coding. just that.

my family had a fiat panda. a "panda young".

after about ten years, we sold it.

it is still being used, i can see it being driven around my home town, twenty years later (after we sold it).

yeah i would drive it, given the opportunity... but: can you say that it ever was a good car?

asus owns asrock yeah yeah yeah yeah i've heard that one. in fact i was the one saying it to others. later on, i understood that ownership means absolutely nothing. if the mobos were good enough to be sold under the asus brand they would be sold under the asus brand.

i was overclocking mobile bartons on an asrock socket A mobo right around when you started school. it had a via chipset so yeah it was as crappy as possible but i did get some sweet overclocks out of it... volt modding the barton was fun... where was i?

oh yeah...

just make sure it fails before the warranty goes out.
