What I did for my external firewire drive was get a 120 drive for $80 (this was 3 years ago, so the price difference between that and larger drives is more than it is today), and an exernal encloser for $30. $110 total. and i was able to pick exactly which drive i wanted, with the exact specs that i wanted...and did it for less than 1/2 the price (at the time) of prebuilt external drives, which was very important because i was in school at the time and money was very tight.
only thing i'd recommend is if you go with your own enclosure, get one that has a fan on it. mine is passively cooled, and it gets hotter than i'd like...expecially when trashing it with video read/write for extended periods. never had any issues from the heat, just made me nervous, that's all.
the cheapo 350w PS in my box died recently, and replaced it with a cheapo 600w PS. actually, the PS was fine, but the bearings in one of its fans crapped out and was making the most god awful squeal. and its easier to just replace the whole damn thing than just one of th internal fans.
I know the cheapo PS aren't very good or reliable around their max power rating, but i'm no where near it, so it should be more than sufficient for my needs.
nope, my box is flat black with no lights other than the standards (power, hard drive, network, etc.). and it's quiet. which is nice because my previous box sounded like a jet taking off.
i don't know about taxi driver, but if you have a dreamcast that plays burned discs (not all of them do), and can speak/read japanese, you can get Tokyo Bus Guide. Its a realisitic bus driving simulator.
and let me tell you, it is every bit as exciting as it sounds.
actually, the PS3 and the 360 both have very good processors.
still, i doubt running it on the ps3 would do what the OP whats it to do...the Cell is a RISC system, where as the Intel/AMD chips are CISC. In order to run software that is compiled for one cpu architecture on a different type of cpu, the software has to run through a software emulator that translates the programming of the software into something that the CPU can do somethign with.
and this is a very slow process...and this is why emulating a PC on a mac is such a slow process (not including the intelmacs). If you are lucky, you get ~ 1/12th the speed of the processor.
the cell runs at 3.2ghz, which would correspond to ~266mhz after the performance hit...no where close to fast enough to run LFS.
the xbox processor is a triple core PPC (risc) processor with each core also running at 3.2ghz. but since it would require emulation also, the 360 would take the same performance hit down to ~266mhz. and since LFS doesn't support multiple cpus, it would just run on a single cpu.
^^^ i don't think taht's a bad idea...in the future, but since this is an urgent project that is already behind schedule, probably not the best idea for this project.
when you go to a page, and it doesn't load, what happens if you hit refresh/reload? Does the page load then? If so, try changing these settings
1. click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Make sure the following are not checked:
• Use HTTP 1.1
• Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections
4. Click OK
5. click View.
6. Point to Encoding, and then uncheck Auto-Select.
i don't think it has anything to do with the first movie. the trailer almost makes it seem as if it is a movie version of what would have been a pilot episode.
HAHA...that 2CV commercial was great. I was just about to ask, why bother making a transformer from a 2cv, then when it fell apart at the end, it was just great
you apparently haven't tried some of the newer transformers...especially those from the Altenator series. The RX8 transformer i think has 35 steps listed in the instructions and i had to follow them to transform it the first time (a first for me), and it took ~15 minutes. now with a bit of practice, i've gotten it down to ~5 minutes.
but what i think happened is he was trying to roast a wheel on the shift (you see/hear him rev the engine in neutral right before shifting and loosing control) and got a little torque steer, which pulled him to the right, dropped a tire then lost control...that or he was looking at his guagues so intently that he didn't realize that he drove off the road and lost control. both equally lame.
