can't wait. pre-ordered mine the other day. i'm not expecting this to be a LFS killer ( ), but should be fun. i love driving real-world tracks. only thing that sucks is no limited edition in the US
with a few simple changes, it can actually be made into a pretty secure platform. just turn off "allow html" and disable global registers. then you just have to deal with spammers, and if you have an attentive admin staff, isn't an issue.
haha...the best part of that whole thing was when he was talking about why jesus could never be a president of the us, because it is so very true.
the nation would hate him, because i'm sorry, if jesus was infact a real person, he would not look anythign like the jesus that is typically portrayed in this country, that is pristinely white. he would look middle eastern, because he would have been. and sadly, after 9-11, that's a group that many in this country have a very bigotted attitude towards.
i think the guy in the video is dead on...jesus would not have a chance of becoming president of the us...at least not right now. hopefully not too far in the future the country as a whole will come to its senses...but i'm not going to hold my breath.
heh, i downloaded the demo last night, installed it, and couldn't get it to recognize my g25. so, quit out of the game and uninstalled it. and that's the last i'll think about that series
no, six people use a wheel other than one of the 4 listed, and one of those six stated that he uses the Saitek wheel.
but hey, its your money. don't let these other people try and make you feel bad about your purchase. i don't care what anyone says, any wheel (that works) is better than a gamepad or mouse/keyboard.
the wheel you are looking at looks similar to the wheel i had before i upgraded to a g25. i used to have a driving force ex (the ps2 wheel), and i loved it at the time.
now, i'd be hard pressed to go back to that wheel for any reason, but at the time, that's all i knew, and i loved it. my old wheel has been passed on to a friend that i got hooked on LFS and my dad (who i also got hooked) purchased a DF ex for his wheel and has a grand time with it.
so, ignore they nay-sayers and enjoy your wheel when it arrives.
i can see how macroevolution can seem strange when looked at on the surface, but if you look into it a bit deeper, it makes much more sense.
if start with a single celled protozoa and end up with a black bear, its easy to dismiss on just the face value. but it was a very, very long process. its not like the protozoa washed up on a beach, went into a cocoon (speaking of cocoons, how weird is it for a catepillar to wrap itself up and emerge as a butterfly) and emerged as a bear. it was a process of a multitude of microevolutions taking millinea to complete.
and really, why is it so unbelievable? the reproductive system of humans (and many other types of animals as well) is basically a greatly accellerated example of macroevolution. the egg and sperm fuse into a single celled organism. then over time it divides into a multiple celled organism. and then that organism divides more and starts to organize its cells into an organism that has the typical human traits. and then it organizes further and those cells become specialized cells which eventually become organs or blood cells or nerve cells. and the end result is a person. but if you look at the start and the finish, it seems completely contradictory that they are one and the same. but it is just a series of microevolutions put together.
faith isn't required with science, otherwise it wouldn't be science. science is directly observable and repeatable. which is what seperates it from religion. with religion you just have to believe as there is nothing concrete to back it up.
ball bearing turbo, i think this is a great debate (a bit of a tangent from the original topic, but whatever )
and i don't think that you need to step out just because a few people are getting heated. by the very nature of the subject, this is going to be heated on both sides. just go on presenting your side. and as long as all involved are purposely trying to offend other, i see no reason why this can't be a civil (and rather warm) topic of discussion
yes, and religion was hardly invented in modern times, except for scientology, and i don't even consider that to be anything even closely resembling religion.
and "seems unfitting and illogical to make up fairytales"? ever heard of the romans (ancient)? greeks (also ancient)? egyptians? azteks? native americans?
what do we in modern times refer to their religious beliefs? mythology. what do we say about their "mythology". that it is made up to help explain the unknowns of the world.
you know what they referred to their beliefs as? religion. so i ask. how is it "unfitting and illogical" to think that modern religions are a tool that was made up by earlier civilizations? there is historical evidence to support such a theory.
one thing that i've noticed when i've mentioned that people are animals to any random person, is they get greatly offended at that notion (which amuses me to no end), and retort with "i'm not an animal, i'm a person". i uses to try and enlighten them, but gave up on it because they wouldn't accept what i was telling them, and just amused me even more.
anyways, that's beside the point. why do we (humans) need religion? its basically just another tool that we invented to help explain/comfort us in daily life. some people need that tool, and other don't. and no amount of arguing on either side is going to convince someone to change their mindset.
i don't remember there being any porsches in the shows race, let a lone wrecked...or are you thinking of that horrid (looking) movie Redline with eddie griffith where he smashed up an enzo in a promotional auto-x.
you're doctor is completely off base. a boyfriend or husband is definitely not required for a woman to get pregnant. an f'-buddy will more than suffice
also, going back to the eye for an eye stuff in the bible. this code of law far pre-dates the bible. it was actually the code of hammurabi, who was a babylonian king around 1760BC. and it contained (amoung other things) a collection of specifically stated "mirror punishments"
If a man give his child to a nurse and the child die in her hands, but the nurse unbeknown to the father and mother nurse another child, then they shall convict her of having nursed another child without the knowledge of the father and mother and her breasts shall be cut off.
If a son strike his father, his hands shall be hewn off.
If a man put out the eye of another man, his eye shall be put out. [ An eye for an eye ]
If he break another man's bone, his bone shall be broken.
If a man knock out the teeth of his equal, his teeth shall be knocked out. [ A tooth for a tooth
If a man strike a free-born woman so that she lose her unborn child, he shall pay ten shekels for her loss.
If the woman die, his daughter shall be put to death
If a builder build a house for some one, and does not construct it properly, and the house which he built fall in and kill its owner, then that builder shall be put to death.
If it kill the son of the owner the son of that builder shall be put to death.
and so on. but even then, it wasn't cut and dry eye for an eye. there were different levels of punishment based on the class of the attacker and the victim. if the attacker is of a higher class than the victim, then the attacker would most likely only pay a fine.
now, given that a good portion of "christian" countries don't have a class system, that essentially makes both parties of the same class, so the mirror punishment system would apply (under hammurabi's code).
even still, it wasn't a vigilante world. the punishments were carried out in the legal system. it wasn't the victim (or their family) that executed the punishment. so, knowing that, the people attacking the clinics/doctors/mothers would be found guilty and be put to death if they killed someone in their actions.
a lot of statements in the bible weren't explained out explicitly because the statements didn't need to be. the bible was written in a time and location where the audience would understand it with out having to have it spelled out for them because they lived in that world, under its laws, and with its beliefs.
the modern world is so far removed from the world the authors or the bible lived in that many of its "teachings" are no longer applicable and many others need to taken only after given it much critical thought.
for example, how should this be applied to the modern world?
Exodus 21:7
i guess that's true. and i likely Serenity. and i hadn't seen of firefly at all when i watched it. and i like the movie so much, i just bought the series of firefly on dvd (haven't watched it yet though).
online petitions don't work. you know why family guy got brought back after they (fox) cancelled it the first time? because the DVD sales were through the roof and the rerun on a different channel were getting good ratings.
sadly, i don't think that will happen here because family guy had 3 seasons that it could draw from for dvd sales and reruns. a 6 episode show might get decent dvd sales, but it won't have enough episodes to bother with reruns.
wow, that really sucks. i know you are working on it, but definately get out as quick as possible.
a few years ago a friend was working for a publishing (magazine) company that was having "hard financial times". several times during her employment there, her pay would be postponed for a month or two, then when they did pay her, it wasn't the full amount that they owed, and would promise to get her the rest in a few weeks.
this continued on for 6-7 months. it got so bad that she and a few other employees ended up suing the guy to get their owed back wages. poor guy had to sell his new 7-series bimmer and some of his other recent personal purchases to pay everyone.
it seemed the guy was putting buying nice new toys for himself over paying his employees, who needed their paychecks to pay their bills and rent.
after getting all her back pay, my friend quit that job, and found one that actually paid her.
sorry for the tangent story. its all i had to offer seeing as i'm not in a position to offer employment (i'm just a grunt), nor am i in the UK.
its not off...i think the default setting is "off", but all this update does in regards to the digital speedo is remove one of the dupliate settings from the options screen.
in other words, in the previous test patches, the settings for digital speedo were available in two seperate areas of the options menu. this update just removed one of those. it is still possible to change between digital and analog speedometers.
you mean this wasn't a remake of a british show? it seems that just about every new show that comes out now is a remake of show that's already been done across the atlantic. it seems as if for the most part the american tv industry has completely lost their imagination or gotten lazy...or both.
i'm trying not to like the show too much. it is on Fox, which means that it will likely get cancelled soon anyways.
last night's wasn't the first episode (unless you watched a recorded version). the first ep was 2(?) weeks ago and was 2 hrs long (basically the first 2 eps back to back), with the following 2 eps being the usual 1hr, which makes last night's the 4th ep. and i was expecting a terrible show, and i was actually kind of surprised that i like it. not a good show, but enjoyable none the less
