Speaking of non-english language films, has anyone seen City of Men?
I thought City of God was awesome and I cant bring myself to watch the second one because I dont want to be dissapointed. Same reason I have never watched Battle Royale 2.
I also agree that the directors cut of Darko is not as good as the original version.
Donnie Darko is one of my fav's too... here are some others that I rate highly, you have probably seen them as you are a film fan but maybe someone else can find it useful:
Requiem For A Dream - one of the most powerful and overwhelming films i have ever seen. If you have not heard about this film, don't read up about it, just watch it. My sister recommended it to me and I watched it without knowing what it was; it really blew me away.
Audition - I'm not a fan of horror really, but this is fantastic (if you can call it horror that is, it's more like Romance/Ultaviolence). It draws you in with its subtlety and character development then hits hard.
Letters From Iwo Jima - Someone mentioned this earlier. A very unique and focused take on the war film genre, I was most impressed with it.
Akira - A lot of modern films owe heavily to this inspired work of art, don't be put off because it is an animation either. Get the subbed version though, the dubbing can be distracting!
Also if anyone wants to recommend any films I might like that would be awesome
*edit* Oh yeah and I can't believe you don't like There Will Be Bloody, Day Lewis' performance is outstanding and he fully deserved the Oscar imo
I share your feelings about our countries obsession with idolising our sporting talent before they have even won anything, but I think this is a little unfair.
Surely the stats will be different between each manufacturer's car not the drivers themselves?
I am a little unsure what you are trying to do here...
You want LFS full screen on both monitors, but not stretched across them. There should be options in your standard gfx software to duplicate the picture to both screens if thats what your after?
Or perhaps you mean to use one as a center view and the other as a left/right view, missing the opposite side view from a 3rd monitor setup?
Your right, but like dreamweaver, you should never rely on the design view. A good solid understanding of the language is just as essential in programming applications (and much more so actually) as it is in creating website designs. WYSINAWYG
As Stig mentioned, it would take you years to learn how to make anything remotely as complex as LFS, but if you want a higher level experience then editors are available for many games (usually FPS's) that allow you to mod the game without delving into the code.
It is nice to have individual options within the game. Messing about with different settings in the control panel while alt-tabbing to test performance is something I try and avoid personally.
Just had a test myself, and seems to be working fine.
I've been using my G25 with Vista Ultimate x64 for a few months now. Never had any problems at all, used the 5.0 Profiler drivers off the driver CD that came with the wheel.
Since I got my new hardware for my pc, ive had x64 vista installed, with x86 XP on another partition just in case. I have not once been into XP since then. Personally I find it very stable which is strange considering its Microsoft.
I dont actually use the profiler though, I just set the controller in control panel to the right settings and then set it up in LFS.
Unfortunately since my golf broke and I sold it I have borrowed my mums Nexia. The GLXi is the luxury model and I can tell you now the luxury in this car is ASTONISHING!
For instance... the rear right window only needs a slight push by hand to close as the electric motor just can't quite make it on its own!
Looking at all the water cooling setups people have, and as I will be upgrading to a water cooling kit in a couple of months. Is it possible to get them without all the bright shiny luminescent stuff all over the place?
I know people like all this brightly coloured stuff but I do not, im a minimalist at heart (i dont even have any icons on my desktop). Just wondering as I have not really looked into the water cooling systems yet.
J@tko I see your in Rutland, which school do you go to?
I used to go to Stamford College. We used to play cs over their network, it was definitely forbidden but we always found a way. They even banned those flash game sites.
As you can see from the insides picture I have labeled some parts. The 'motor which drives the white plastic bit' has broken somehow and you just need to move the white bit during calibration. When switch 1 is pressed 900 degrees is active and switch 2 is for the smaller mode.
Sorry for the bad pics. My camera has flat batteries so had to use my phone which only has a shite camera.
I have just upgraded to the G25, and have a spare DFP sitting on the floor taking up space that I would like to give away.
However it's not that simple. You see I somehow managed to break it, a bit.
The problem with it is the motor (i think) that slides the little white plastic bit in the middle forwards and backwards to enable and disable 900 degree mode (forward position is 900 and back position is the smaller lock, 240?)
Anyone know if this is fixable?
Before I could afford my G25 I had been using the DFP in this condition for quite a while, every time I turned it on I just wait for the wheel to do its 900 degree check (wheel turns fully right and left) then when it gets back to the middle I slide the white plastic bit manually and it then does the smaller lock check and it is good to go. Everything else about the wheel works as normal.
To me it seems like it might be fixable, and someone who is good at that kinda stuff might be able to do it?
So if your in the area (Derby) and are interested then pm me and your welcome to come pick it up for free. Alternatively I guess I could post it (UK only) but of course you would have to pay the postage.
Ill go and find my camera and get some pics to show ya.
Your main problem with this is that you are using an analogue stick for your clutch, which auto centres. Meaning the clutch is always half way through it's travel.
If there is a way to get the centre point of the stick to represent the extreme positive of the axis so that half of the travel of the vertical axis on that stick (centred - down) relates to the full travel of the clutch then it might be possible.
Maybe try calibrating the stick you want to use as clutch half way (centre - down) and do not press it upwards at all. But I'm not sure this would work.
Your right mate my mistake the XBCD drivers do work with the 360 controllers, but only for the wired ones. I have the wireless controller and it is still unsupported
Sennheisers are awesome, I use their HD25's for DJ'ing and can't praise them enough. However if you want great sound maybe you should look beyond the onboard stuff and get yourself a decent Audigy card or similar. Even the older Audigy cards have good quality and are at bargain prices.
I did a bit of Googling and looks like our friend may have been reading this, heres an excerpt:
"As he looked at her, I saw a tentacle of deep murky red energy extend from his solar plexus, travel across the room, and sort of "swarm" all over her energy field. As soon as this "tentacle" made contact with her field, she stiffened, then turned around and looked directly at him, with an annoyed look on her face. At that point the tentacle of energy was withdrawn"
Ive seen a lot of this recently and just thought oh well they wanna show off cos they have a clutch and shifter etc...
Then earlier I was on the CTRA server and spectating on one of these drivers. I noticed he wasn't even using the clutch or shifter (on a road car)! I felt compelled to ask why he needed to display the fact he has a G25 if he is not even gonna use it fully... and his answer was: "It's too hard"
I use a wireless 360 controller for games under XP.
Some games auto accept the input from the controller just as if you were running a xbox 360. e.g. Bioshock, COD4, Lost Planet (with rumble support)
As for the seperate axis, I have tried to get this to work, but to no avail. The XBCD drivers do not work (for now at least) with the wireless 360 controllers, (although a new version has been promised).
I have not used Xinput but sounds like it could work might give it a try. Ill let you know how I get on.
*Edit* I just tried to install Xinput, but it does not install and gives the incredibly useful error message... "Installation did not complete"
