I guess that's the way the Wests like to tell the story. But after announcing the game in 98, showing vids in 99 and increasing development time due to ever outrageous feature ideas by the Wests, the publisher simply pulled the plug before they got mugged in by the same problem RL has now: it will never be finished. I know there was something there for WSC. I still have the vids somewhere, but it's not enough to make a few renders or videos, you at some point need to present contents to customers.
Funny, I always thought racing was about passing others, fighting for position and ultimately do that very fast. Guess I was wrong the last 28 years and I need to adopt a new style of LFS driving.
No, they don't. I was making fun of their merchandise production years before they actually have a product in their hands and of their constant progress reports of things that might be a nice gimmick in an otherwise perfect simulation.
In reality I am quite surprise that people actually do think this software will ever see the light. The Wests have by now quite an impressive record of boasting and not producing (WSC anyone?).
But that is besides the point. As is all this longing for WR setups when you are not even close to being a WR driver.
The race_s setups come with the game right out of the box. They are very good setups that are on a rather drivable side and yet fast. Work with those setups and try to learn how to the car behaves in different situations. Try to learn not to overdrive the car but getting a smooth line and smooth weight transfers. Only when you significantly improve your times using the race_s sets, you should look at other sets again.
WR sets are just that: a setup that some dude drove a WR with. They are by no means the best setups there are and even less good setups for beginners. Quite often they are very specially built for the driver who drove the WR with it but not for John Doe average driver. race_s sets are for that group of drivers.
There is quite some blaming going on in Nascar as well. Just do some reading about the Kenseth-Gordon incident at Chicagoland last week.
You are not crazy, they have been doing that for quite a while. There are always 2 road course events (Watkins Glen and Sonoma in recent years) on the schedule.
IRL (the other openwheel series in the states) adopted 2 road races since last year, as well. They were oval only before.
Personally, I am wondering about that quite a bit. He's supposed not to be able to climb stairs without pain, getting his hip replaced but now puts on such performances? Yeah right, and those who got suspended from the Tour never had contact with that doctor in Spain.
It is a common misconception in the first/redline case that the issues were about skins, carnames and tracks. The rights to those things never belonged to Papy nor to DK or iracing. Those entities were only license holders and as such, that we can be pretty sure about, they were not entitled to enforce the intellectual property rights on them because these licenses were, again pretty sure, not exclusive (or have you heard of DK having an exclusive license on Spa?).
The grudge DK had with Redline was, just as with the other mods, a cracked nascar.exe that allowed to run the game without having the original game cd. I am pretty convinced that just the good standing of Team Redline in the papy community led to the point where they were allowed to rerelease while other modders were not. The other things such as carnames, tracks and so on were only part of that and happened to be changed upon the suggestion that these things may infringe intellectual property.
It's been said before here and I will say it again: Such things do already exist since the release of LFS S1. It's been growing ever since.
For MoE for instance we've already now had people from North America asking wether they could broadcast our races and neither the official starting date nor the schedule has even been released.
Yes, after seeing this pic, I do as well. I've seen worse in a historic racing team's garage and they said it would be no problem. In fact, I've seen a Porsche 910 which only consisted out of the spaceframe at one point.
According to my sister, who was at the event, the Newey GT40 well may be beyond the point of a reasonable repair. That is unless it is a car with a loaded history of course.
Word is he went too fast into a corner and couldn't make it. Before this one, he had two more smaller accidents which is very unusual for him since he is a quality driver.
Well, actually the German ESL Pro Series has had races covered ever since it existed, only most times in German and also pay-per-view. MoE was free to watch and in English mostly.
If they had played that way, you would be right. They didn't though and thus you are wrong. Btw, in the ET, Italy had three strikers plus del Pierro as a substitute. Italy played a very controlled offensive game and was a little better as that than Germany. A deserved win by the slighty better of two very good teams.
Normally the German play is very ugly but they win. This time we played more attractively and lost. I don't know which is better.
