Quote from Gnomie :I'm going to learn blipping after Christmas. For now I'm still playing X10 because of league races. I have the G25. I've noticed that some players have their pedals "upside down", mounted on the wall or something, but I've never seen precisely how they do it.. anyone got a linky or some tips? Is it much better than the normal way?

What about the Thrustmasters?

I just consigned my old one to the cupbaord after 10 yrs hard use!

I also own the GT4 wheel for the PS2 which is usb connection and works on the PC no probs. It is also pretty good with 900* rotation, but not up to G25 standards.

Quote from mrodgers :LMAO! I'm in single player right now attempting to drive with a clutch. Took me a while with DXTweak since my 2nd pedal set is a very old Thrustmaster T2 with combined axis, but I've got it working. Now, if only I could left foot brake, let alone heel-toe and clutch and downshift all at the same time! This is hysterical!

Next step I think is getting the squashball back in there so I don't have as much of an axis on the brake pedal. High stiffness + high braking force in setup is pretty good for pressure sensitive braking.

Ok, accelerate, clutch, shift... accelerate, clutch, shift... accelerate......... clutch, blip, downshift... clutch, blip, downshift... clutch, blip, downshift... WOA! WALL! BRAKE BRAKE BRAAAAAAAAAKKKKKEEEEE!!!!!

Lol, it's great innit

The other night I had a shot with the G25 on 720* steering, H gate shifter, manual clutch whilst sat in a BRD race frame with a 46" HD LCD tv attached to the frame. Tell you what, it was sooooo real that it all came naturally, just like IRL. The course was FB rallyX, I highly recommend it

Back in my own house it's much more difficult to create that level of immersion in a computer chair and 19" monitor..........and much more difficult to drive with all the thingumies switched on

How good is all this then?

10/10 devs

Snuck in a new car and track variant that most people weren't expecting (yet, anyway :shy plus some nice new damage/physics models to enhance the experience with my spanking new G25.....

I just took delivery of my new G25 last week and set it up over the weekend.
Set the wheel turn to 540 degress and matched in game options. Turned compensation down to 0.00 and off we go!

Finding it very different (and much harder!) from the old Thrustmaster (270 deg rotation, with a compenstaion of 1.00)

Reduced it to 400 deg for the single seaters, but very hard to catch slides now, even in the FOX

Many more hourse practice required me thinks.........

Quote from Waz :Should I go online to learn driving or do it in singleplayer? I'm not good driver and i don't want to destroy someone else peoples race. I played few races online but I avoid big rooms and skilled players. If I should not to go online how long i nees to stay on singleplayer? (like best lap with XFG in blackwood)

I would think it is sensible to hotlap or practice offline until you feel you are at a standard which allows you to control the car effectively and complete a few laps at a descent pace without crashing.

This is what I do to learn new track/car combo's.

Racecraft however, can only be learned online.

eg/ XFG @ BL1 - consistantly lapping 36's??

Quote from Aiden McGeady :
4 - Abrupt reductions of speed are definitely not recommended, even when being lapped. The car being lapped must lift off slightly and remain in one place until he is lapped, because the driver behind has a better view of what is happening. Once he's lapped, he may continue racing normally. If he loses speed too suddenly, there's a chance the driver who's lapping won't have time to react. If this happens in a turn, the driver being lapped has to take a line that is not the ideal one, and remain in it until he can continue racing normally.

Thats the one that needs drummed home more than the rest, imo. Last night on ctra ss1 there were many, many examples of this, even some cars parked on the track near corners etc....

I mean, really......:smash3d: :irked:

Done a bit of skydiving - not that.

Done a bit of rock/ice/alpine climbing - not that

Written cars off in nasty crashes - not that

The downhill mountain bike course at Fort William is 2.6km long with 525m of vertical decent and takes a punter like me about 6 minutes to get down (the pro's do it in 4 min!). Its a rush, such a rush at the finishing line.

The first third is steep, rocky and technical. The second third opens out a little but much caution still required. The bottom third is a lot more flowing with some HUGE jumps if you have the gonads to go for it.

After about the 4th or 5th run of the day you'll have your lines figures out and the time comes to blast the full course in timetrial mode. Hurtling over the finish line in a sweaty mess, unable to see out the mud splattered goggles and generally glad to be alive, I've never felt such an intense adrenaline rush in my llife

no one ever said anything about it being irrelevant. its the fact that these same noobies could get confused and think his site is actually LFS news,

Oh come on, I seriously doubt it The links at the top of this forum page take care of that, never mind the actual website address!

Quote from Unclebenny :people can find plenty of information on his site without it being labeled like its the only place you can find LFS news and setups, which by the way, it isn't.

Guys, seriously, get a life. Or even better, write your own guides, make your own league and share your own setups for us all 'cause clearly we're missing something!

Edit: And note that it say 'Gentlefoot.com LFS News' and not just 'LFS News' as you so conveniently quoted.

+ hundreds

I found the GFC site to be very useful in general when I was starting out and even more so when I ventured into the SS racing when CTRA-X came out.

Tis a fine addition to the LFS community

Is that regular to have snow every winter? And for how long perioid?

You learn something new everyday

I was winter climbing on Ben Nevis (highest hill in Scotland) during April this year. Best season for 5/6 years I think.

We normally get a sprinkling in November, then rain until February when the snows return.
