Quote from Mazz4200 :Bah, stop being such a grumpy old git

To be honest 2.5 mill aint gonna make that much of a difference, and that question would be next to impossible to answer for our younger viewers.

Utter tripe.

10 min on google/wikipedia and it's a gimme. No-one should be getting any of these bonus questions wrong

And 2.5M does make a difference, especially when you have a brokers fee of 8% (10th in sub-league)

As an aside, what % fees are the top boys running?

I used to find it good fun, but it seemed to turn into a demolition derby type event. Contact sport, ok, kind of. But too much ramming for my liking.

That sh!t hammers yer ctra stats

I just hate FB full stop. Can be relatively competitive on the rest of the tracks but I just don't 'get' FB at all.

I say bin it altogether (:grumpy or make the chicanes proper chicanes that need to be taken in 2nd or 3rd gear.

Quote from henrypuspurs :Ive been driving on the demo servers and Ive hit a bit of a wall. I used to do drifting in the turbo demo car but now thats not avaliable anymore Ive turned to the FBM. The thing is Ive hit a wall in my laptimes, on the Blackwood normal circuit I am mostly in the 1:20's and Ive only once done a sub 1:20 (1:19:73 to be exact) but I notice theres quite a few drivers doing 1:14's. Hasnt stopped me doing alright in races (quite a few high finishes and a win just because I didnt crash or spin once) but its getting frustrating relying on other ppls mistakes to get me up the pack.

Im using a joypad so steering isnt that precise and throttle and brake are either on or off (plus it pulls left all the time coz I cant figure out how to give the controller a deadzone).

Im thinking its a mixture of setup and driving thats holding me back Im just hoping someone had a similar experience and figured out what they were doing wrong. The gap is over 5 seconds to the good racers I just wanna bring that down a bit, any advice at all would help.

PM me and we could hook up on our private server for some tuition if you like?

Be warned tho, I aint that fast. Mid 14's my best.

ps - in the options/controller tab there is an option to have or to remove deadzones.

Quote from yeager :I find that SS1, which you can also join has a much better level of driving. That might be a place to get some relief and pickup more skills whilst you wait for your tin top points to grow.

Well, kind of, maybe, sometimes

Once you get a grid slot above the midfield then it can be ok. But try being near the back into T1 on KY2. Utter carnage. Remember Demolition Derby? Lol.

I steer well clear (boom boom!) of SS1 now that I can access SS2.

But to the OP, stick at it, once you can access Race 2 it is an absolute pleasure.

Quote from Woz :Set wheel to 720, lfs to 720 and wheel comp to 1. Wheel turn will be 1:1 in all cars then

Have fun.

True, but then you lose the soft FFB stops. I think the new logitech profiler allows you to adjust settings from in game, so no need to jump in and out of the profiler if changing from 720 - 540 etc.

Much of a much I suppose.

Quote from Gekkibi :It doesn't matter if I have throttle or not, I have problems doing the middlemost turn in chicane. If I cut even tiny amount, I will be spinned.

Maybe I should tweak my setup. However, don't have a clue what should I change there. Probably I should try ride-height...
(or learn how to drive)

Take a big cut on the middle part of the chicane (so your left tyres are on the striped kerb not the concrete part!) and keep 75% throttle, then full gas straight away over the final part of the chicane then all the way down the straight to the R-hander.

Quote from MR_B :So? How much did you win!?

I personally didn't watch it. Whipping horses doesn't float my boat.

£10 stake at 10/1 odds, £110 back

I bet on quite a few sporting events, F1, the big horse races, footy, golf etc. Makes watching it that wee bit more exciting

Made £3k profit on the football alone one year (1999). In 2006 the F1 made me over £500.

Highly selective and prudent betting is the only way I've found to make a wee profit.

I don't even like watching the nags

Quote from Hyperactive :Well, for me it wasn't so bad. Button 21st, Barrichello 11th, Force india engines did quite well, Honda chassis not so much. Elf fuel was nice though. 393 points, quite exactly what the excel sheet calculated for it

2 bets right I think :/

Getting rid of Vettel was good choise though

I had an ok day, not great tho at 399pts. Let down by poorly performing STR chassis which I had only just upgraded, bah!

How does the Elf fuel work? Do you get the pick of the best results from the teams listed or a full combination of the lot?

Did pretty well on the bets tho, if only the Ferrari duo had finished the other way around I would have had a tricast.....

3 weeks till the next race (Barcelona), can't wait

ps - nice one Team Turbo, no. 5 overall for the weekends results

Quote from SamH :
There are probably just as many T1 flops as there ever were. Perhaps there are a few less.. CTRA does filter out some right malicious idiots. The major difference now is that you're no longer involved in the T1s. What's happening is that, as you're gaining more experience, you're placing your car in a better place on the track. You're also seeing and anticipating other peoples' mistakes, and avoiding them in time to avert an accident. Whereas once upon a time, someone else goofing would have inevitably led to you suffering - often in T1 - it isn't the case any more.

Bahrain GP - Characteristics

Ach, come on

I know it's all a bit of fun, but no need to spill the entire tin of beans

I've got about 8.5M credits in th bank just now, not sure whether to spend a little now or hope for some good results so I can get shot of that Force India chassis.

EDIT....just read the whole thread only to find Sam used the expression 'Word' There goes my theory of the kids using it, innit.

Lol, it's my 'Word' of the moment as well
Well, 'Kicking' has had it's time shirley

Think I've got an 80's retro thing going on.

Not sure my boss understands tho............

Back OT I've raised a few reports only to find after review that there was absolutley no need to do so. Despite being sooooo sure at the time of the incident. Highly recommended and highly educational.

Quote from Christopher Raemisch :

The CTRA breeds tough competition IMO, with that comes high tension and frustration when things go wrong. How people handles these stresses reflects on their maturity and professionalism. I am guilty of losing my cool, as is everyone, but =)

Indeed, no-one likes their points to be cut shy or the yellow flag/DNF stats on the rise thru' no fault of their own.

If it's a racing incident tho, then sh!t happens. Can be worth saving the replay and reviewing not only what caused the problem, but what else you could have done in avoidance, short of precognitive abilities

A quick message bind is enough tho, or next step is raise a report.

Having a pop 2 races later in well out of order. I'd have reported the spanner.

gaaaarrrghhgrhghrflump

So, after (stupidly) using windows to update my drivers I realised they had installed flippin the equivalent of ZX Spectrum stuff instead, t*ssers.

Up till 2am renewing, uninstalling, wiping, defrags and generally updating things to at least the correct decade. Hoping this sorts the problem.......

Just got to uninstall RBR itself now, reload, and try it thru' the 5.1 surround instead of the usb headset.

Must admit, I've got some optimism this might work

Quote from NotAnIllusion :Have you tried a non-usb headset?

Not yet, but they work 100% faultless with LFS, but still it's the first thing I'll try tonight Lets see if the 5.1 speakers work instead.

Quote from Vain :1. bhmotorsports.com has a setup-sub-section in the download-section of their RBR section.
I can recommend the KSP sets, and the 'realistic KSP' to some degrees. I found the Subaru and Mitsubishi gravel sets from the latter pack pretty bad.
2. Finding out the exact chipset can be a bit difficult. Do you know which manufacturer provided the motherboard? Do you have any of the packaging left from when you bought the PC? It usually states the exact components somewhere.

Vain

1. Yep, spotted the set-up threads, but I though the KSP set were only for modded cars?
2. After 5 years, lol. I lose my bank cards at 30 minute intervals, no chance, but thanks for the thought I do have Everest installed tho, that might tell me.

Quote from Crashgate3 :Had a play with the demo of this and then bought it from amazon for the princely sum of £4.11 including postage

What angle of steering wheel travel do rally cars usually have? I wasn't quite sure what to set my DFP to when I tried the demo.

I used 540 with some tweaking to make it less sensitive at high speeds (in-game options). It felt pretty good tbh

Thanks to all for hints n' tips
