Well I've always spread the love amongst the teams, never really having one overwhelming favourite. McLaren were always the team I disliked most but that was only due to Ron Dennis. After his departure they instantly became a more attractive team
Never did quite understand what all the Ferrari-haters were on about, sour grapes I thought....until now
Much like never voting Tory after their poll tax expoilts up here, Ferrari are a team that I will never have any warmth for in the future.
Dirty cheating scumbag bastards
...and thats me being "magnanimous" about it....
Ok, £100,000 might be the maximum punishment available to the stewards, but I hope the FIA/WMSC hump them to within an inch of their bottemless pit of funds.
1. Ok, £100,000 fine.
2. They should most definitely be stripped of all drivers and team points from the race.
3. 6 race ban suspended for 12 months in case of further indiscretions.
4. A right guid slap round the lug to Dominicalli and Alonso.
There does seem to be some unwritten rule about waiting in certain instances as we've seen already this year. Not that I agree with it, it's all part of the game surely?
No arguements there. It would be an altogether different (and I think much better) race. The possibility does exist that, mountain stages and TT apart, every stage would be a sprint finish as no breakaways have been allowed to develop by the stronger teams? Anyway, same as you, I was seriously unimpressed by the riders/teams 'toys out the pram' approach to the idea and with their playing of the H&S card.....
Good stuff, everyone should have a dream like that. The very best o' luck dude
Indeed, that's why I said calculated gamble. Only just found out that the chain malfunction was in fact induced by an elementary mistake by AS when changing into the big ring during his attack. Therefore there is no need for AC to defend himself, he was well within his rights to counter-attack.
Thanks for the insight
I thought so seeing as how the other rider was all over him.
Yeh it's pretty obvious when you see it, even at race speed. Dangerous move and deserved punishment....but as you say, way OTT.
Still, it's been an eventful Tour and the clock rarely lies over 3 weeks of racing. The best man will win, and after Thursdays return to the Tourmalet we'll be a lot closer to finding out which one it is.
I'm with Contador on this one. He already waited for an age back in Spa for Andy, if he hadn't the tour would be over already.
AS started the attack and put a good few metres into AC before he had his chain malfunction, for me AC had every right to push on and take every advantage of the situation, otherwise where do you draw the line?
As they mentioned on the coverage, riders can choose to use a chain guard (extra 50g or so) to prevent such issues but AS did not. You can therefore argue it was a calculated gamble which did not pay off, unluckily for him.
However, what a brilliant and ballsy ride by AS to minimise the loss on the day. Its great to see someone who may be able to live with AC in the big hills, even without his brother and team-mate. Maybe next year, after improving his TT a bit, AS will be in position to ride into Paris in the yellow.
Really looking forward to tomorrows stage, might have to take the day off works for that
And wtf with Renshaws DQ, bit harsh in my books (although I am no expert) but no surprise given the stewards seem to have it in for Cav.
I had between 6-8 great races last night on a well respected and reknowned server without a ranking point in sight
The pity is that such servers are few and far between.
I was a big fan of the CTRA set up when it was at its peak, it was a novelty as far as LFS was concerned. Nobody is anywhere near replicating this and the current multi-class/points based servers are haunted by dubious driving standards at best.
Personally I would like to see both types of server flourish, but in its current stagnanting state I'm not holding my breath
I really want to like Ferrari but they make it nearly impossible with cocktalk like that.
Oh and imo Massa deserved that nose chop from Schumacher. Quite simply he should have known better, plus Massa himself didn't make any effort to accomodate Luizzi at T1 of opening lap.
Still, thats one of the best (non-weather affected) arace I've seen for a long time, welcome back Canada
Nah, the chicane and following straight are the defining features of the track imo. Can't have them taken out. Coming out from a stop with full tank and cold tyres direct onto the straight seems like a cop-out to me
I just figured one of the African countries would put in a good run.
Too much pressure on the hosts, never mind their lack of quality.
Cameroon for some reason I didn't fancy.
Ivory Coast looked doomed without Drogba, albeit it they're hardly a one man show.
Nigeria always flatter to deceive.
Algeria too lightweight.
Ghana are highly unpredictable, true enough, but if the right players with the right heads show up they could go to semi's - and I had a wee flutter on that too
Can't wait for Ivory Coast vs Portugal tomorrow, and fingers crossed Brazil hit double figures just to see how it is 'reported' back home
My Dad and his side of the family are all Dutch, so due to another no-show by us Scots it's always nice to have a better option to fall back on
However a Brazil vs Spain final looks on the cards. Gonna make a trip to the bookies this afternoon and have a couple of quid on that, along with Villa for top scorer.
Really looking forward to it all and have my fingers crossed the hosts make it a tournament to remember for the right reasons!
Winner - Spain
Top scorer - Villa (Spain)
Dark horse - Ghana
Should have won it but won't due to employing a deluded coke-head as manager - Argentina
Interesting, thought Kubica might have been in with a shout. Time is on his side though I guess and perhaps after the accident Ferrari still feel like they owe FM something?
