I think trucks would have been a good way to go...
It would open up the sim to another genre of motorsport.

By the sounds of it you were on a Demo server racing FBM(could have already been established but I don't have time to read), If that is the case then you should really expect that, I have only came across one good Demo server, which was Blackwood XFG XRG, but there were still some wreckers on there, but the regulars made sure to get them out.
As for the blue flag situation, I fully agree, You have 3!!!!! warnings to move for leading cars in real life, so why on earth should you be made to jump out the way, possibly causing more danger to the passing cars, as soon as the first flag is shown?
That's why I like the airio set up on [AMG], 5 blue flag warnings then spectated or kicked, I can't really remember.
As for fair racing, you should try FM FOX, really good, mostly clean stuff there, and there is always some friendly guy to help you out with a set, which by the sound of things, you need.

I did read the article, but If I remember rightly Yas Marina was announced as a purposely built circuit.

Don't know if anyone else picked up on this but..
Lap 1 in the tunnel when Hulkenburg had his accident Alonso was looking to make a move on Karun and the yellow flag was brought out but Alonso proceeded to make the move, I would say he was barely 1/4 of the way alongside Karun when the yellow flag or as it is, light, was shown, no matter the HRT agreement to allow Alonso through safely and not hinder him on his charge up field surely passing under yellow flags is against the rules no matter the situation (Very slow cars being one of few exceptions).

In Newcastle someone gave a bright idea(see what I did there?(for anyone who lives in Newcastle :P)) to the big guys at Go North East to colour each and every bus a different colour.

Just my slightly bias opinion but the FRenault has got my vote, I love the cars(as you can probably tell by my avatar:razz.
No other cars interest me, especially not with the FRenault as an option.

I usually do, but I had to do a full re-installation of LFS a couple of days ago, where I deleted my whole LFS folder, think I had 30odd GB of LFS related stuff in there, anyways, my dds backup folder went with that.
