lol my attitude would be it may be a skoda but atleast i can afford to buy something other than insurance lol, im probably gona have either a land rover or a mini as my first car,
james12s

tbh people may mock a skoda but because its not a common young driver car the insurance will be alot cheaper

atm a diesel is not really worth it fuel cost wise, i dunno bout insurance but diesels will be in excess of 1.6litre to be anywere near effective tbh, anything smaller is stupid, i would also stay away from the cars that are often done up cos they cost more to insure even if not modded, i know someone who paid less to insure him, at 17, on a 3.5litre v8 range rover than a 1 litre nova, if you do get a cheap car try it on a policy with a fixed value etc, may effect it may not depends ont he insurer.

edit: have a look at a mini, can tremember how tall you are but im nearly 6ft and have driven a mini(private land) was a little uncomfortable but its not hard work to mount the seats further back, i think you v=cna get kits to do it

Quote from Jakg :Although he's right (I usually only ever need brakes twice or so on the track) do NOT try it. I used to race on the same track twice a month for about 2 years and only once I really knew the track (i.e. 3-6 months) did I try the "lets not brake for this corner idea". Once I tried this, I ended up doing the entire race trying either not braking (and throwing the kart into the bend with the tyres screeching to hell, which was suprisingly fast) or to slam the brakes on at the last second and to use the locked wheels to cure all understeer. Not ideal techniques, I admit, but when you've got somone on your tail, catching them out with a little bit of sideways action after braking late tends to cause them to lose time. I actually perfected a technique of not braking throughout the entire track (which I needed the next race as the brakes were f00ked).

EDIT - In short - Don't try it unless you know the track well :P

EDIT 2 - The kart with the brakes that were fooked was a totally different kart to the last one, and had been in storage for a while - our team got the "short straw" in taking it, and we did surprisingly well in it. I've never broken a kart (that wasn't already flaming a little or had a slipping clutch when I got in)!

i do this all the time at my uncles track, the only place i every use the brakes is coming of a long straight or maybe just a dab coming into the very tight, chicane/hairpin mix

Quote from jaws99 :Be very smooth, don't slide at all. I imagine you'll be using slow 4-strokes so keeping your momentum and the engine revs high is crucial

Also, I would adivse you to wear a thick jumper as it bloody hurts if you get hit and you don't ahve the luxury of a rib protector, the amount of times i've had massive bruises on my back is ridiculous.

yh the biggest rule especcially in hire karts is keep the revs up, it keeps the centrefugal clutch engaged or at least near it

yh if you think that it will be just like lfs, you will fail but if you take more of a driving style and racecraft from lfs then it will work or should

well i would say if you think about it correctly it will help slightly, my uncle runs a kart track and ramming etc gets you off the track, instantly, so it shouldnt be tolerated, as for the track, never been indoor but have driven an indoor sized outdoor track, you need to possition the kart right and get a rythm, and datona karting are good as well so should be enjoyable

i agree with jack on this of your using the pc only for lfs, a bit pointless imho but hey, then the e8400 will be great but for me i do multiple things on my pc, some video making, pic editing, transcoding movies to dvd format, and alot of stuff were spreading the load works really well,so like jack i have a q6600, i depends on what you want to do, multi tasking, 4 cores are good but if you are only playing lfs a high power dual core is better

edit:and another thing to really remember especcially with all pc stuff is that just because its the most expencive dont mean its the best or the best for your needs
