anyone here taking part in the indy 500? i've not posted a valid qual time yet, but got a practice ave. pb of 39.952s just on the cusp of the top split, i hate that this is during exam time and the whole cross weight and oval settings confuses me a bit, but not bad so far.

one thing that this has brought my attention more than anything else in Iracing, give me telemetry damn it.

Quote from NunoMike :I believe he means that those calculations should take place at the local host you're in (in your PC) and not in the game host (the server), in order to avoid lag penalties...

yes exactly
Host calculates pit-lane penalty's

The host machine should calculate if the driver as incurred a DT or SG penalty rather than server side, to avoid penalties due to lag when entering the pits

i only started serious practice about 3 hours before the race, but had a 15s ish lead after about 20 laps, and was on driving at about 90% to try to avoid errors and 0x, then i lost concentration while try to spot the cause of the yellow flag when entering the chicane and lost it on the curb hit the wall and had to get a tow, then almost ran out of fuel at the end, not to self dont race when ill.

but SR went up about 1 so will get a promotion now.

Quote from Dac :All supporting my argument. LFS will not make you Michael Schumacher, but it will teach you what he knows. It's putting it into practice that will make you fast in RL. I think a lot of proof reading is necessary here before people start shouting their mouths off about their understanding of other peoples arguments

exactly, no-one is saying we will be as good as him, but that knowledge will make us quicker than we were.

have had almost to practice, :vomit: so my best time is only a 39.4ish time to just keep it on the track

Quote from DaveWS :I agree with Ray. LFS teaches you car control which you can apply to real life, along with many other things. Of course before you push the limits IRL you have to get accustomed to the difference in feel, and especially the feedback sensory overload, but once you do that, you can apply your knowledge from driving in LFS (or any other realistic sim for that matter).

Most people are really taken by suprise the moment they have to start controlling the rear end of a vehicle by countersteering. Anyone who's competant with LFS won't have this problem.

exactly, it helped me alot in karting too.

didn't get through first race started 9th finished 7th but 3rd fastest lap

race 2 started 5th got up to 3rd entering the first turn on the outside but got forced wide onto the grass dropped to 10/11th got back to 7th.

finished 12th overall, which is very annoying when setting 4th fastest lap

good luck benji
