I disagree. After driving on at least 90% of LFS tracks and cars for a long time, I think the new physics will make every single one of them a new challenge for all of us. This will last years with that alone. The open configs have given us new tracks, restrictions have given us new cars and it hasn't made that big of a difference IMHO.
The main point is, when Scawen gets those physics done, then it will take a comparatively tiny amount of time to implement new cars and tracks.
Also, don't forget, they now have the ability to import laser scanned data since they scanned rockingham, and we have been told eric has been working on s3 content for a long time, so if we just wait for the tyre physics, then the rest will follow pretty quickly.
Well like I am sure has been said already, if Scawen released a new physics model that was possibly worse than before, but maybe better, then we as a community would be none to happy. The fact that they promoted it in the way they have makes me think they haven't got a clue, really.
Well to be fair Vic, I was up till 4:30 am Friday and 5:30 am Saturday, and I'm sure you all know me well enough to know I am old, and do need sleep every 3 days
Yeah I kinda agree, but the difference in track resolution, and bumpyness (is that a word) in the iracing tracks is a big difference IMO. I have no idea if rockingham has the same FFB feel as iracing when going over bumps, but if it does, then unless Eric can somehow put that into the fantasy tracks, I would rather laser scanned. I could be talking out of my ass mind, as like I said, I don't even know if LFS's physics engine takes bumps with the resolution needed.
Like BBT said, it is a big opportunity for Scawen and LFS. So many people are pretty pissed off with the claims from iRental and what they actually have given us. The physics in iRacing are just wrong, but I thought that the NTM would fix this when clearly it has come nowhere even close.
If Scawen were to release his NTM before Christmas, I can see hords of iracers coming to LFS. I really cannot see how iracing's fundamental physics problems will be fixed by then.
When LFS's physics are done, I would hope to see content on a much more regular basis and I don't think anyone in the sim racing community would have any issue in paying a bit more to support Scavier.
Think of this, if S3 was released, and Scawen asked us to pay £2 each for him to get a track laser scanned, would you pay it? I certainly would. The fact we don't have to pay a fee to just stay playing the game, the fact that it is a 3 man team and the fact that LFS is more fun, would make this a no brainer IMHO.
I think the BBC is a fantastic organisation BECAUSE of the way it is funded. It can output content that advertisers simply wouldn't back. It has so many good educational programs, things I can let my daughter watch without her getting brainwashed and coverage of sports is great. The internet side is also pretty amazing. I used to pay £55 a month to SKY, but found I was only watching 10% of my TV on sky. The rest was the BBC and the freeview channels. I am now on their basic package as I refuse to pay sky's extortionate prices. BBC Radio is simply the best in the UK also.
When you compare prices you are talking +£500 for Sky, and less than £200 for the BBC, but you get alot more for your money from the BBC. Also you have to consider what the effect that the BBC has around the world. Trust me, ALOT of people the world over who use the BBC know it has the most impartial (yes I know no one is completely) reporting and services "in the world" (said in a Jeremy voice) . BBC World service is one such example.
Another thing that really gets me about sky is why the hell, when I am paying £500 a year do I have to put up with adverts every 5 seconds!! All the other channels in the UK on freeview get their money via advertising, so why the hell do I get charged twice by SKY. They get money from us for subscriptions, then again through adverts. I refuse to watch live tv on sky because of this...
Dave (cargame) and passo were the main people taking the photo's, but Dave's won't be out for a few days (he had a few people to see and a festival IIRC) and Passo's will be a few weeks I think.
Also, Tor was a complete Pussy with the drinking
I think he took my behave comments too seriously, I only asked not to wreck the joint, I didn't mean don't wreck Bob
We tried to sort that out with them but the owners weren't interested at all. Their loss
I would just like to thank everyone for coming and making it a great weekend. Everyone got on great and we did have a great time. We were all knackered again on Saturday night but there were plenty of interesting conversations, even if everyone took the piss of my MEGA idea
Thanks also to everyone looking after my house and cleaning up Sunday morning, was appreciated
Sonicrealms Racing are pleased to announce the signing of iRacer Ray Alfalla, after both parties agreed to join forces. The front-running American is happy to join in, and will have his first appearance for SR in the next iRacing Road World Championship the 30th of July 2011.
Ray Alfalla (22) is joining Sonicrealms Racing to strengthen their iRacing line-up. “I am very delighted that Ray has decided to join us. He is a very talented driver, and I cannot wait to work more with him. We have some things going on right now, which we will announce later”, says SR's iRacing Development Manager and real life racer, Tommy Østgaard. Jason Matthews, SR Team leader writes - "I am delighted to welcome Ray to the team and hope this is just the start for us in iRacing. This will also help our iRacers like Jason Lovett to improve. Tommy has done a great job in persuading Ray to sign for us and I hope to see more drivers from iRacing join us in the future."
Ray Alfalla will be driving his first race for SR already the 30th of July 2011, in the iRacing Road World Championship where he is currently 10th in the standings. "I am very honoured to be part of the team, thanks to Tommy for this opportunity, and looking forward to it very much." says the experienced Alfalla. Ray started with sim-racing 8 years ago, and has several remarkable results, such as 8th place in the first NASCAR iRacing World Championship in 2010, while leading the on-going series in 2011 with only six races to go with several race-wins.
Sonicrealms Racing has with this signing taken a step forward and showed their ambitions of running at the front in the biggest series in sim-racing, while keeping the core of the team; the team-work, the passion, the friendliness and having fun with each other.
Welcome to the team, Ray Alfalla!
Tune in to http://www.PSRTV.com at 30th of July at 22:00 GMT to follow Alfalla through his first race for SR in the iRacing Road World Championship!
