Team Name: Team Insane Dragons Server (Y/N): NO (coming December 2009) If yes server name:
Type: Race, Cruise, Drag, and Drift Team info: ={ID}= is a team that is primarily focused on LFS (Live For Speed). We have existed for well over a year. We have four active members. We are looking to get LFS servers and a TeamSpeak 2 or a Ventrilo server for voice in the near future.
In ={ID}= the main thing we are looking for in new members is the ability to have fun. We are competitive but at the end of the day value friendship over score. For this reason absolutely NO team drama is tolerated. This creates a very laid back yet fun atmosphere for our members to play in. Like any other team we value skill in applicants but the main determining factor in acceptance into the team is the relationships you develop with current team members and how well you get along with the veteran team members. We have no age requirements but applicants must have a level of maturity acknowledged by an admin.

At first I was a little disappointed that Scawen was going to allow non-limited setups at all in the next patch, but I suppose he has to consider the drifters etc.. I just hope the racing community embrace the limited setup option properly and all racing hosts use it
I like to think I am a decent racer who drives hard but fair...
When I go to ANY public server, it can be incredibly frustrating. We used to run a very similar server to the FM guys, and tbh it was no better. It is impossible to have a normal clean race with a server of 20+ connections full of amateur drivers. FM try their best to keep the complete noobs away at peak times with the pb filter, but it can only do so much...
I have had a break from public racing for a while but had a go the other night and got crashed out 7/8 races through no fault of my own. I was, as you can imagine, massively frustrated and certainly took it out on the next idiot who crashed me out but that wasn't Failure's fault was it?...
But my point is to James, you race enough to know that failure does his best to keep a clean server, and certainly doesn't deserve any insults from you... Why the hell should he take abuse from people using his server when he is paying for it, he is administering it, and also he is racing on it... Give the guy a freaking medal man, not an insult
Sonicrealms Racing would like to make it clear that we had no knowledge at all of this prior to the event, and do not tolerate cheating at all by any of our drivers.
We have removed Gjerde from the team and we are as disappointed as the whole community about this. I would hope that our diligence is finding the evidence required and bringing it to the attention of NDR will hopefully go some way to reassuring the community that SR stands for the highest morals and will always try our best to uphold our ethos of clean and fair racing.
As most of you know, we have been going since the very beginning of LFS, and we have worked extremely hard to build our reputation, but situations like this can seriously damage any teams reputation, so I would hope that if any teams thinks twice before trying to cheat, that at least some good can come from this sorry affair
Turn it off!!!
All it does is ask you for the 3rd time if you REALLY want to do what you asked to do in the first place. Windows already asks you if you really want to do it, why I need to be asked for a millionth time I have no idea
On windows 7, Superfetch is default to delayed start apparently, but as soon as it does come on, it will fill all the available memory with your programs, which is 2.5gb in my case, which is quite a bit, and it will continue to do this in the background, albeit alot less after the initial "thrashing"
Yeah, I agree, I absolutely love windows 7. I used vista for a while but it was awful in some cases, and certainly alot slower than XP. Windows 7 is faster and it works. This issue I had above is the very first problem I have had, and I just wonder if the Asus smartdoctor was somehow messing the the superfetch? I still stand by my point that I would rather wait an extra second or two for my apps to start than have my hard drive thrashing like a fish
Yeah I also had an issue with Asus Smartdoctor. For some reason it had eaten up 50% of my cpu when I took that screenshot. Uninstalled it now anyway just in case
I have been having major problems recently with FPS issues and a huge freeze everytime someone left the pits. Everything worked fine in XP, but in Windows 7 it made LFS unplayable. After removing all my programs etc, it still didn't fix the problem. After plenty of research, I turned off Superfetch and hey prestro, my FPS has gone up massively and no more freezing!
So if you are having these issues, turn off superfetch. Superfetch basically tries to guess what you are going to do next and constantly accesses the hard drive, thrashing it like crazy loading in what windows "thinks" you "might" use in the future. For a gaming PC, and especially LFS for me, I would much rather have to wait maybe 1 second more for my programs to load in, than it load faster but be shite when it starts. It will also greatly reduce the life of your hard drive, as it constantly is accessing it, even when you are not doing anything. You can really see this effect when you start windows and suddenly your hard drive is going like crazy when you are not doing anything. I have no idea why it affects LFS so much for me, but it does.
To turn off Superfetch, goto Control Panel/admin tools/services and disable superfetch from startup. Also stop the service and empty the prefetch folder in c:\windows\system\prefetch.
Hope this helps anyone else having this issue.
Windows might take a little longer to load, as will firefox, LFS etc, but they will be much quicker when they do load. Also you will notice that your memory usage in task manager/performance will go down dramatically, as it no longer caches gb's of data into memory that you don't need.
Superfetch might be not a bad idea for office workers who open the same 10 apps every day, but for a gaming PC, it kills it, at least in my experience
