Uninstall profiler completely, reboot, then run lfs without it after changing the combined pedals etc in windows control panel.

It is possible it could be a USB issue. If your wheel is plugged into the usb at the front, plug into the back, or at least a different port.

OK, after setting up a 3rd monitor, I have managed to get it working with softth in windows 7. It indeed does seems that it is impossible atm in the Nvidia/windows drivers to force span mode, so this is the only way afaik (not including eyefinity or triplehead).

Also, in windows XP, after getting span mode working no problem with 2 screens, after adding a 2nd graphics card, I couldn't get XP to span across the 3 screens, so had to use softth anyway.... So, in conclusion :

If you have 2 screens, use XP in span mode, works flawlessly, no softth needed. If you only have windows 7 or Vista, you will need to use softth, which was impossible for me to setup for dual screen

If you have 3 screens, you have to use softth no matter what (unless using ati eyefinity or triple h2go), and it is pretty easy to setup, and then it doesn't matter if you use XP, Vista or Win7.

I couldn't get it working in windows 7 without using softth, but that failed miserably when I tried to configure it. In the end I gave up and installed windows xp on another drive in that PC, which I will play LFS on.

That is what I was hoping that this new multi monitor support would do, but it seems not. If LFS could provide this feature, it would be great

Scipy, is there something that YOU would think is useful information that an application like this could display? I am sure the devs of this app would listen.

I would think that maybe something like tyre temps, damage and clutch temp, i.e. display the f10 f11 and f12 menus, would be pretty useful? Saves having to press keys when racing.

Has anyone been able to get LFS working in Dual monitor setup with NVidia card in Windows 7 or Vista?

As far as I know, these OS's do not support span mode at all. After some research, I read somewhere that the only way to achieve this is if the game itself provides the multi monitor setup.

I would love to be able to use dual monitor, especially with this new patch, but cannot for the life of me get LFS to register the extra resolution settings of the 2nd monitor, unless I am missing something?

Thanks Dean for all your efforts. It really seems like you are doing your best to sort these issues out, and we all know it isn't your fault

I find these posts regarding the price of LFS frankly ridiculous. Any other game that you try to buy on the shelves today will cost around £44.

The fact that Scawen (wrongly IMO), has branded LFS an alpha product and decided not to distribute LFS in the high street has compounded the issue. His latest post seems to agree that the alpha tag is no longer applicable.

From my personal point of view, I have never in my whole life experienced anything that even comes close to LFS in terms of value. £24 for 5 years of constant entertainment. I spend double that every month on Sky TV, which thanks to LFS, I never get to watch

Asking another £12, or whatever they ask, from users who have been playing the game since 2002 is absolutely nothing. We have all seen the alternative with iRacing, which thank god they have not decided to do. If, god forbid, then went down that route, I would have spent £100's in the last few years. Also, if LFS did go the subscription route, I would leave instantly. But what I would happily pay extra for is exactly what the community has been asking for, real tracks, with laser scanned quality (and hopefully bumps), and more content.

May I talk hypothetically for a minute..

Scawen wants to charge £24 for S3, on top of S2. So, LFS S3, for a new user, costs £46 (normal retail price for a game these days). For us it is £24.

For this money, they will spend the money on marketing and distributing LFS in shops, putting in 10 Real tracks, putting in 5 more cars in, surround sound, dx9/10 quality graphics, better physics, sanctioned races/servers.

So, if they did this, they could afford to hire some graphics guru's, get some tracks laser scanned, and increase the user base. With some sanctioned servers/leagues/comps aswell LFS could easily (IMO) take over iRacing. iRacing get's away with charging >£10 per month, plus content cost, for a product that is vastly inferior to what LFS "could" be, with a modest amount of investment.

Hypothetical over

LFS already has a huge physics update coming, a new car and the prospect of S3 on the horizon. This is not before time IMHO, but it will be free.

When S3 does come out, I hope it will be a big change, but I do fear that it won't. I hope to god that S3 doesn't cater for the pentium 3/4's that LFS caters for atm. It will be 2010/2011, and to expect the majority (probs 90+%) of the userbase to have to put up with shite DX8 graphics and 2 channel sound to please the tiny minority, in spite of the huge progress computers have made in the last 10 years since lfs was first released, would be a massive shame

/rant over

Quote from Vinnylegends :I don't think you can read. My dad has supported me. But he does not share the same passion for my sport. Wich makes it difficult to compete at a high level.
And about that meet. 80 euros for not so tracktime is too much. I wasn't the only one not showing up. The money went into my own kart instead . And I did choose karting myself. My parents did NOT push me.

And by the way. You made a laugh of my comment, so you were just begging to start a discussion. I don't care if you argue with me or not. I have proved my skill in real and I don't need to prove anything on this forum!

80 euro's for not much track time???????

Are you completely mad? I assume you are referring to the UK LFS kart meet as that is what you mentioned. It was £45 for 2 hours track time each. You find me ANYONE else who can get it that cheap I will eat my socks

Win a Logitech Wireless FFB controller!!
jasonmatthews

Sccc Atomant has kindly offered a Logitech Wireless FFB Controller for free to a lucky driver who takes part in our SR Hotlap League and does all the combos remaining. SR has agreed to pay the shipping, so it really will be free!

The prize will be decided by a random draw of all the racers that do every combo (excluding event 1 which has already taken place).

All you have to do is set a valid time on each combo. It doesn't matter if you are quick or not, just set a time that is good enough to get into the server stats (105% of WR IIRC) on all the remaining combos and you stand a chance of winning. SR & Sccc members are not eligible for this prize.

SR & Sccc want to encourage as many drivers in LFS as possible to try new combos that they have never driven before to help keep us occupied whilst we await the new patch. We hope you come and join in and good luck on winning the prize.

I will PM the winner when the league has finished, which happens to be a week before Christmas, so some lucky driver will have an extra present from Santa

See this page for more info on the league.

Nice post, but my point is...

Give me a track, after a few laps I can tell you what is the best line. Ask me theory or show me a pic, no idea

Also, does the best line change for the different car you drive? e.g. what if you drive a rwd as opposed to a fwd car? The lines are certainly different, surely shirley?

I would think red is better, as you are turning much less, so losing more speed. Why not try setting up a autocross track with this corner, then seeing what is quicker. I just drive what feels right, no idea which line I would take on a real track

Word of advice guys, if you have any hopes whatsoever of making this team work, then sort out this stuff on your own website and via pm's before announcing it on the LFS forum. Any potential new members will read this, and what are they going to think?
