We have seen these issues even with the OLFSL league. Strict rules apply here with regards to before and during gridding to prevent problems - everybody be on track before the lag lap (via join), no shift-s or shift-p after joining (in other words do not leave the track even if you crash during the lag lap). The hosts always emphasise these points before and during gridding.

I knew I should've been behind you on race start, but was so glad we finally got something organised that I didn't want to cause issues. All I wanted to tell you at start was - 'stay behind, wait for the crash/mess on turn one and then start to race'

Thank you Corny for the good hosting during the race, I do not think you could have done better with what you had available to work with. Also J. Provost, was great of you to donate your server...

Somehow, even after the initial mess and some bad driving, I feel very positive towards this championship, so teppo.jr, great idea - you just have too little race and hosting experience to have attempted an event with so many drivers alone... Ask for assistance in the future, all of us are looking for nice events and are willing to help, just communicate! Lack of communication, also in the real world, just causes frustration - people want to know what is going on, and most are even sympathetic if problems (even a little one like lack of a server :nod develops...

A hint: go and spectate (even take part when you fulfil the requirements) on the (FM) Fox Junkies Event server on Friday evenings, and also the (MRc) Oval Star Championship currently running to see how clean, in a simple way, events can be organised. And take advantage of Corny's invitation to join the admins in his events...

Furthermore, if you are really interested in organising events, join OLFSL next season, to see how a major league (8 years running now), with between 50 and 200 drivers are organised - an exemplary example of event organisation. And wow, this is the best school to learn about LFS racing, rules, cars and tracks! I am only racing in LFS for 10 months, and still very inexperienced, but this league taught me heaps (not only about driving, but also about racing). It forced me to do more than 1000 laps (except the UF1 on KY3 which is an insane combo) on each of 12 combo's to be slightly competitive!! Oval racing I love, but it took me 5000 laps to drive the perfect line, and now I am still a drafting beginner with 10 000 LFSW laps and +20 000 off line laps...

As a note - that certain driver that caused all the crashes wouldn't have raced if quali was solo, as he just had a lucky quali - which is another reason why I am so against drafting during quali. Prove yourself on your own and draft during the race. What an idiot, he would've been banned during any informal race. Maybe he is just a stupid noob (inexprience is okay, noobness is not), otherwise he is a crasher. He crashed the safety car twice, second time nearly destroyed it after a 276kph dash through the pits, shortcut?!

And that certain driver that first crashed out his team mate and then left the pit from the exit, and drove in the wrong direction, PFFFT!

Please emphasise some basic oval racing rules:

1) Pass on inside
2) Don't block inside lane
3) Don't stand on the racing line
4) Don't move after a crash - a moving chicane is impossible to avoid, wait for everybody to pass
5) Get off the racing line when faster drivers approach
6) Read the Clean Racing Rules FFS

Agree - didn't expect much, so I enjoyed it.

A bit more rules to get control during the race over bad racing behaviour and it will be better.

PLEASE DON'T ALLOW DRAFTING DURING QUALI! With a big field it pulls too many racers on top of each other and two drivers drafting prevent a solo qualifier from getting a decent quali in... and making quali crashes likely.

Quali was a chaotic free for all...

Was nice to see a lot of the serious LFSW hotlappers doing well in the race, 4 of the world top 10 ended in the top 10 of the race...

Just an out-of-his-depth-kid with an LFSW unlisted team created a 'few days' ago. 400 laps on oval, 13000km in 3 years, blah blah blah...

Things like this are killing LFS, not lack of progress or interested racers...

40+ racers wanted to do this race.

Total lack of respect shown here.

What are the rules regarding pitting during the races? Mandatory or not? Work to be done?

And what procedure will be followed during qualification? I assume (hope) that drafting will not be allowed during qualifaction?

Though I did recover one hotlap by correctly renaming the temp file, depending on what stage you get to the temp file, you may still get a valid hotlap.

BTW, ran a beautiful XFR hotlap on KY1. 45.36, lost it through my stupidity. Luckily bettered it a few minutes later... Wasn't a nice feeling...

After your hotlap go directly to Garage

Change the name of your setup

Voila! Hotlap disappears

If you don't have anything good to say about LFS, don't use it.

If you don't have anything good to say about the people that enjoy the game, please do not race with us.

If you suffer from ADD, please get some treatment.

You don't even have the decency to use a legal version of LFS, as such you do not have any rights to opening your young little dirty mouth about issues you have no understanding about.

Hi, I am wireless too, so share your frustration/problem.

When you pull a list of available hosts, you will see a column containing ping times. This is a good indicator of your lag. I find if my ping time are less than 300ms, I rarely get complaints.

I also have 3 wireless ISP's (easy in South Africa as contracts are optional. though I find my on-contract ISP to be mostly reliable), so when one has high ping times, I switch.

You may also do a traceroute via your command.com prompt window to the host server to see where the problems are. But try www.pingtest.com, easy to use.

Sometimes it helps to disconnect, re-connect, re-boot pc, make sure no other programs are connecting the internet.

If you do get complaints, just leave and try again, or try a different host - some are better than others, even the same distance from you.

Weather may increase your problems too, I find on cloudy, pre-storm evening, that my lag issues are worse.

(FM) Oval Junkies is pretty active on the oval with GTR's, FZR mostly, also XRR and FXR. Up to May 10-20 drivers were constantly active evry evening since January.

Bit slower at the moment, but join the server and you will find others drivers joining very soon, like myself.

Good drivers, good people, always willing to help.

While I like the current format in general, what I don't like is that everybody pitches up for the race, do it, and it is over - kind of an anti-climax...

This where Bozo's idea also has merits, it kind of extends the race into a 'racing day', making it a more coherent whole and not just a "Wham Bang Thank You M'am"
