I kinda agree. I've been playing rFactor quite steadily and I know that the ISI engine has flaws but with the advent of the Real Feel plugin for rFactor, the FFB is probably some of the best I've ever felt. AFter that plugin was released the first thing it reminded me of was LFS after I tried it. RealFeel has revolutionized rFactor. Until that came out, I felt that rFactor sucked monkey balls, trust me. Now I'm getting back into LFS and in comparison LFS's FFB feels quite dull. Main gripe is that you cant feel camber and elevation changes but that may be the tracks fault?? Who knows. I'm no longer comparing rFactor's canned FFB effects with LFS's FFB since they are now on a more level playing field and I simply prefer what I feel at times with rFactor and the Real Feel plugin. Not trying to start a flame war but I think what you feel through the wheel is the most important part of the sim and that those feelings should represent what the physics engine is doing and that's exactly what this realfeel plugin does that the canned ISI engine was lacking before. So LFS and rFactor kinda share some of the same qualities in the FFB dept now except I feel a lot more coming from the realfeel plugin than LFS.
I like the way lfs produces FFB but at times it seems like I should be feeling a little bit more than I do like camber and elevation changes in the road and vibrations. So, what's the good word? If we get some physics tweaks with the new patch, do you think we might have something new to feel via our wheels?
Wow, Scawen sounds a lot like Richard Burns in that video. Kinda of reminded me of the Richard Burns Rally school. Anyway, maybe its just me since I'm American and think that all foreign accents sound alike.
Anyway, good to see something new coming to LFS although we are seriously lacking a new track.
Agreed. People should go play rFactor for a while. I just did and it sucks more and more each day. The longer you play LFS, the easier it is to realise that the ISI engine is crap.
So when patch V hits, will there be any suprises included with it? Nice to be able to play with the test patches but takes the fun out of waiting for the final patch if there's nothing else to look forward to. :-)
Are these settings retained for each car? It seems that after upping to U36, the default camera view is set to custom which is all jacked up. Can someone confirm?
Not sure if its me or if I'm noticing more pop ups with U35. I mean the fences at South City appear to be drawing only a few meters in front of me. Do I have a LOD setting that has gone out of whack?
Thanks Scawen for the updates. One thing I noticed after autoupdating to U33 is that I get stutters for a few seconds when starting off on the track. Dont recall this ever happening in any other version so it was quite apparent when it occured. Anythings different being loaded as soon as the car hits the track that didn't load before? Not sure what it could be. It goes away after a few seconds or so and doesn't return so I really cant complain, <too much>.
Well aware that this is a sim and I never use combined pedals. The pots on my DFP are dirty so they are acting all erratic. Just confirmed with the spare set of pedals I have. The old pedals are shot. Anyone know how to clean these things? Looks like a bunch of grease in there collected tons of dirt. Last time I took apart a set of pedals I couldn't get the pot to lay right and screwed it up even more :-)
Just wanted to report back to say that my problem turned out to be flakey DFP pedals. Just confirmed that on occasion when I step on the gas, the brake engages for some reason. Does this in control panel so it's not LFS. Thanks.
Has anyone been noticing pedal input problems with the patch? I'm not sure if my DFP pedals are dying or if it's LFS. I still have to test but I could have sworn that my foot was on the gas full throttle and the onscreen throttle display was maxxed yet the car sounded like it wasn't at full throttle. Could be a sound issue . I'll check the replay or see if I can reproduce it.
Last time I checked, LFS was a simulator. People should understand that even though the sounds aren't as real as sampled sounds, you know exactly what the car is doing based on the sounds.
Right now I vote for the older sounds. Unless something can be done to make these sounds sound more like real engines then there's no rush to get a tranny whine in there just because ISI has it. Who cares. I'd rather see physics and graphics updates. Nice job on the test patches nonetheless. Much appreciated.
Tell that to the rFactor people who claim that everything is perfectly fine in rF suspension-land and that LFS-like suspension movement is just for show. They argue that the suspension display doesn't match what the physics are doing but I don't believe it. I could be wrong but what's so bad about having the engine show the graphical suspension movement in the same detail that LFS does? If they can't do it, then I think this is a valid piece of the superior physics discussion.
I just wish we could get one, just one real world track. My dream would be to unleash LFS's superior physics on a real world track we play everyday in all the ISI based sims. This would be so fulfilling. Not sure what the devs are waiting for. Do like ISI did and call it something else to avoid the licensing issues. Heck, or even make a fictional track thats available in both sims. I'd be more than ok with that.
Keep on tweakin'. Gonna give these a try tongiht. Keep in mind, I think GTR2 is close, but there's almost no loss of grip during cornering, and I dont think it's the tight setup either. I tried Dave Purdys but they gave the driving on ICE feel again. We need something in between and I hope these give that feeling.
Why do the GTR2 demo cars feel better in GTL? Anyone notice this or is it me?
