I cant find cargame S2 and S1 for a week. Do you know what is happening? I can see that it is online from lfsw but when I refresh servers in lfs I cant find it.
Traction control method?

Hello,

I am working on a traction control for car and I would like to ask which type of controller is used in LFS. The TCS in LFS performs very well under every conditions its nice and smooth.
Could it be PID controller? Or something more advanced? PID fuzzy?

But if you look at mesh. Its pretty simple for these days. But still I can say that even my 4 years old PC if we are 40 at start my fps drops form 300 to 30 which isnt good. But it gives sense as so many calculations are done in 2000Hz frequency...

What I think is: A stiffer differential should help but it would affect driving properties. Its all about compromises.
BTW: If your inner wheel is under very low force there wont be so much energy transfered into heat. Depends on situations but in some occasions the very low slip of inner tire may be still transferring less heat to tire than no slip at outer tire.

I really like rigs and rods soft body calculation. With some car models I downloaded the damage is 90% of what I expected. The vehicle physics is lets say 50%. Problem is really with these vertices which can be forced to the moon because of inability to calculate correct spring forces (this happends especially with very high speeds and planes). Inertias are also calculated nicely. Maybe a far future is all game from softbodies with different stiffness...

I am still wondering how other simulators calculate object collisions and can achieve the stop at wall and so on.

So LFS is currently performing some basic physic object calculation at 2000Hz? Object intersection is calculated at 100Hz?
What if there were some very special frequencies for higher speed crashes to calculate the intersection properly. Lets say that the bounding box of tire is coming to curb at high speed and could it be precalculated from integrals and set different frequency for that collision so the calculated forces wouldnt go to strange numbers?
If the physics was calculated on different frequencies for object collision there shouldnt be that big fps drop but problem would be to merge the effect of different frequencies to get the right feeling?

I am also wondering. The best is .blend file. I have old one but its exactly the same quality of LFS. I doubt that most of renders I see here have the same mesh quality for renders. The mirror and specularity is awful especially at rims.

Hello. Space X falcon 9 is first commercial unnamed craft to resupply ISS.

Today - 19. May 2012 4:55 A.M. EDT it should have launched to ISS but after engine ignition there was an engine cut off by vehicles computer because of higher pressure in one of the combustion chambers.

Launch is rescheduled to 22. May 2012

I know Its late but I just saw that on el pibe signature.

I cant believe it, I am shocked.

I had some of the most enjoyable close racings with him at my lfs beginning. Cant believe he is gone. He was such a great guy

Amazing work! Looking forward to it. The next graphicall step I think could be done is mesh reworking of cars/ tires/ some critical object but not sure if it is allowed and possible.

Today I went to Actual linux Drift server and I didnt even came of pits and 6 turkish bots spammed voteban. That really pissed me of today... Some admin could go there.

Some parts of the theory of racing car. How and when to apply throttle and brake, differential... It influenced my algorithm for sure. Also used hotlap analysis.

Our robot success based on LFS experience

Hello guys,

Maybe someone will find this little interesting.

Last 3-5 months I was working on this robot and now it was successful on european freescale line follower competition. Would like to thank to devs for this impressive simulator because I learned so much about car physics which I utilized while coding the robot. Thank you.

But custom views allow racers using mouse or keyboard to have a chance against drivers with wheel or even simulators. mousers or keyboarders don't feel the forces, they have to see them on the monitor.

I need to say that I used to race with mouse for maybe 1.5 year and I think I can say that I was pretty good with it. Never used other than just regular cockpit but I know many fast drivers use custom view. Its debatable if there is some view that can really help you but I hope so even a FOV change can make you faster from my experience. I dont like custom views. I think its less realistic and also with mouse I just needed to see the wheel. Currently with wheel I dont need it but its better experience to be in cockpit with some high g force head accelerations... But I think those realistic options always cost you some time for your feel.

Ban? Iam still racing GT2s at cargame. It sucks because its on multiclass but I think you might find us there. LFS is just boring these days. I would like to race maybe FO8, GT1, GT2 and maybe F1 would be fun too but only GT1/GT2 are online with few people and mostly the same track...

Yeah. Iam still like the mouse has some more advantage. Its a great controller because of speed differences and great precision. Only disadvantage is no FF. But with wheel I think you get used to cars more in sim and get some experience to RL.

36 Als is for me the last think that I would like to see. Especially with currents Als algorithm.

It just doesnt make sense. LFS is absolutely great in online competition. Why would someone need to race bots. Its missing the point of this sim.
