are you sure you put the setup from Setupfield in your LFS/data/settings or maybe you placed it in another area in /data/settings somewhere else thats not related to LFS. If it still doesn't work, then I don't know.

As for the sets that people send you, you need to bring up the connection list by pressing N till you a list on the bottom right of your screen then click the green S and then it'll bring up a window asking what would you like to name your setup (for easy reference, just name it to the track and then add an underscore after you entered the track name then write the name of the guy who made it or better, write down the best time you saw he got with it (e.g. BL1_Lep or BL1_12021 [being 1:20.21]).

Hope I helped

I'm interested in beta testing. I have read the Beta Test Agreement and understand it. I hope you guys are willing to take me on, I'm willing to be committed and in terms of driving ability, I've always done very well in leagues (won most and came 2nd in some). I'm willing to test any car.

Kind Regards,

When you don't find a setup on Inferno for a particular track, usually, going with a Blackwood GP or Aston Club set is a good choice to try and then just slightly modify it to the track you're racing at (gear ratios, differential, etc.).

I just don't want to be in a situation where I choose the RB4 or XRT and then find a LOAD of FXOs on the grid, meaning that I don't really stand a chance .

Franky, would it be possible to display the car each entrant is using?

Well, tbh, telling you what happens to me is a bit of a disadvantage to me, isn't it? . We all get nervous from time to time, its normal, only experience will help calm the nerves down bit by bit. There was a time when I used to be really ice cool, I just knew where all the drivers were who were near me and was thinking with a really clear head on passing the guy in front, it was great.
I felt invincible .

Now, unfortunately, they've come back again. I know this sounds a bit big headed when I say this but I think its because of the fact that when I'm usually racing, I can be between 1-2 seconds faster than everyone else so I tend to pull away and drive a lone race so because of this, I've never had any real proper racing over the past few months (altho there can be the odd occassion ) so start racing in competitive leagues (OWRL, OLFSL, ESL) to make yourself practice harder to get quicker and also you'll find the competition is very tight in those leagues so theres bound to be lots of close racing.

Well, I'm 1/2 Irish but I'm bloody proud of that 1/2 of my heritage .

Lepre - Letterkenny, Co. Donegal

kaun - Cairo, Egypt

So there you have it . Wish there was some sort of way to split the "e" so that it doesn't seem like I'm biased . So, I decided to make a picture to make it a fair 50% split between each .

Possibly but tbh, I'd say that yeah, perhaps its something to help enhance the fuel to be more efficient but also, could be a straight up sabotage as well. We will never know but if I were being honest, as much of a red man as I am, I just think McLaren are doing very well and they've improved on their car over the past few Grand Prix so Ferrari not doing well is just down to the mechanics and car designers, just not really doing their job on improving the car.

Quote from Widdowmaker :CAll me selfish - but it takes time to keep up on this forum, it takes balls to post an opinion on this forum, and if someones gonna come in, who I know is a damn fast racer, has damn loads of potential to be one of the fastest racers in LFS, but cant be bothered, or just doesnt care about the main forum for what the game is about. Come on man - sort your self out, and get with the program....

Well, Widdow, thing is, I have something odd called a "life". I don't waste hours and hours of my day just reading forums. I like to get straight to the racing when it comes to LFS and if I feel that something could be changed or improved or an important topic that I see, I either make a new thread or post in a topic which is mainly why this forum was designed, to help the devs improve the simulator.

Simple really, I just don't want to waste hours and hours of my time to read a load of c*ap most of the time (not ALL the time but most ).

Well, the flaming bananas have come and gone. I just see burned up banana peels, those damn chimps ate those bananas before I got to them, GRRR!!!!. Oh look! I've just made one of the most stupid jokes I've ever done.

HAHA! I laugh at you Leprekaun! you're such a tool! .

Sorry lads, just had one of my random moments of insanity, quite rare those so you should appreciate the fact that I will most probably not have one of these till another 40 years .

Lads, I think I made a big of myself. The GP2 car has 600 HP, not the 450 I originally thought it had + F1 spec tyres. Anyway, I just wanted to clear that up . However, the FO8 has ONLY 450 HP while the BF1 has a massive 720 so thats nearly a 300 HP difference which clearly shows down the straights. From what I understand, F1 cars are waay ahead of everything else, thats what makes them so special. I guess there will be some physics updates in patch Y so I'll wait and see what the devs have in store for us .

Well, the simple logic I go by (even tho I don't really sit around making setups but I'm learning ) is to adjust the final drive (basically the general top speed of the car) to make it so that the car reaches maximum revs down the longest straight in top gear on the course and then I just adjust the gear ratios in between for acceleration or traction. I learned that bit from the lovely GPAEDIA which comes with Grand Prix 4 which has some vids on making setups. So, I got that from a guy called Mark Hemsworth whom I think was an engineer in the Arrows F1 team so he does have credibility.

As for the whole peak torque/peak power thing, from what I read from a book called "Ayrton Senna's Principles of Race Driving", he stated that the best time to shift is a bit after the peak power so that you maximise the speed you get from that gear and when you shift gear, the next gear is at the peak power of the engine, thus giving you much better acceleration. Thats what I've read and seen, don't blame me if they're wrong but I do think they know what they're talking about and it is logical.

Lee, thats an "ok" logic to go by. Reason why I say go off the racing line and let them by because its the simplest way to do it and safest way to do it on a straight. If you were to apply that logic of going wide at the next corner, what happens if the driver behind brakes too late? that is yes, his fault but what I'm saying is that there is more chance of an accident happening in a corner than on a straight.
