Hi all! I've recently decided that I need to see about getting in some proper fitness as I'm hoping to race later this year (FF or low level single seater racing). I've never really done any sports properly so I don't really have the faintest clue as how to go about it. I went to my local Gym yesterday for an induction and I plan to go regularly (hopefully, 5 days a week). Since I have a slight problem in my right knee which needs a few months of cycling to strengthen my quadriceps, I won't be doing any running for a while.
I'm not overweight or obese, I'm quite thin (around 75kg) but I just lack a serious amount of strength and general fitness. I'm not looking to buff up as it would hinder me for racing but I don't want to be too weak either or lack stamina. So would anyone here know of any good fitness/strength routines to go by for racing?
The thing is though, I've run FurMark and it was able to benchmark the GPU fine and the system freezes only occur when I test the CPU with OCCT.
Btw, just to clarify as well, when I see it was all blue, I don't mean the whole screen is all blue, I mean that all the text at the POST screen is in blue and the Windows load up logo is all in blue but I can still see everything. Its like its only displaying one colour.
I've contacted Scan and they arranged for an RMA for the MB and CPU so I'll guess I'll have to organise another RMA to include the GPU. Well, it first happened by mistake. I connected everything up (put the VGA into the 2nd port of the GPU) powered it up, and found everything was in blue. That said, I'm not using DVI-I but I'm just using the DVI-I/VGA converter that came with the GPU since my monitor is DVI-D so would it be because of the converter or it shouldn't matter and it should still display the same?
btw, something I was curious to know about, just to make sure that it isn't the GPU. After I took the cover off the case to point the fan at it and then connected the wires up, I accidently put in the monitor cable into the second DVI connection on the GPU. When I turned on the PC, the screen was all blue so is this normal? I put it back into the first slot and it was fine then but I'm just thinking if its meant to be that way because maybe FurMark isn't really telling the whole story about the GPU and the problem is with the GPU.
Ah dadge now, we don't say "to be sure" round here, surely you'd know that .
I'll try the idea of refitting it but I've already called Scan about it. They sent me an RMA number and said for me to send the MB and CPU and they'll test it out themselves and then see what happens then (if there is a faulty part, they'll send a replacement). I just want to know though, my CPU speed is reading 3415 (not 3400, original core speed) so would this be considered as overclocking. They asked a few questions and I explained to them that I used a few benchmark programs to try and find the problem and then they asked which programs so I told them OCCT for the CPU and was met with reply (thats an overclocking checking tool) so I quickly responded saying that I hadn't overclocked it and only used it to test it (which is honest) but the CPU speed is reading 3415, even though I haven't adjusted the core speed when I loaded up AMD OverDrive so does AMD OverDrive automatically overclock the CPU?
Excuse my ignorance but how do you mean by frequencies? As in Nms? I'm actually trying to find out the calculation method itself since I won't be necessarily applying it to LFS but for other racing sims like iRacing, Forza 3 and GT5.
I meant as in a folder where we could organise the tracks for an environment (e.g.: all AutoX tracks (AU1) and then organise the individual tracks for AU1 into different folders)
Hi all! I've read on another forum that a good way to make a baseline setup is to set up the car in accordance to its weight distribution so I went looking around on Google on how this is done but I couldn't find anything so could anyone tell me what kind of calculations/methods to setting up the car in accordance to its weight distribution? Thanks!
Nope, someone built it for me (I bought the parts individually and did the build locally I mean). I was asking on a couple forums (tomshardware.com and xbitlabs.com) and some lads were saying that the MB should have no problem running the CPU model (and its an AM3 board too). There is only one logical thing to do now really and thats to call Scan and ask for a replacement. I just hope they don't say that I can't get it replaced because of the AMD OverDrive bit.
I think my fears have been confirmed . I let Memtest do two test sessions and there were no errors, all passed fine. I downloaded Prime95 but I didn't know how to use it so I've reverted back to OCCT and it froze again. I've opened the case and pointed a regular fan at it to see if it could be temperature related but it still froze again.. As soon as it starts testing after it monitors for a minute, it freezes. I've also noticed that it can't detect the original processor speed, it just lists it as an unknown but it does list the current speed which is 3415Mhz so it must be the processor. I ran FurMark last night and it was able to test the GPU fine so the only factor that seems to be the problem now is the CPU. I wanted to ask about something though, in the BIOS when I was adjusting the voltage for the RAM and the CAS latencies to Corsair's specification, it listed certain voltages in red and the text on the right said something like "Warning: using these voltages may cause damage to the chipset/memory/CPU or shorten their life" so is running 1.8v as opposed to the original 1.5v damage my motherboard?
Hi all! I've googled everywhere for this but come up with a bunch of unrelated topics. Basically, when I load up explorer or my computer and left click to open a partition, nothing happens, I have right click then click open for it to open so would anyone know how to fix this? I have Windows XP SP3. Thanks!
Hi there! I thought I'd make a suggestion about folder support for choosing layouts. Its frustrating trying to find a layout through hundreds of layouts for a track so is there any chance that we could create folders inside the layout folder so that we can organise our layouts?
My RAM is running at 1066Mhz (actual chips standard is 1600Mhz so I'm underclocking the ram). I'm not sure how it can be ram related since the system is detecting all the ram thats there but I guess I could try that memtest tool. I'm reinstalling windows now so I'm hoping a fresh install might fix things.
Ok, iRacing is working now but the framerate has dropped a huge amount. I was getting around 120-130FPS at Lime Rock with the Skip Barber, now its dropped to 60 and below . I've uninstalled the graphics drivers and installed them again but still, no difference.
Hi all! I recently got a new PC and its running great (most of the time :schwitz but something that has been annoying me now for a few days is that sometimes, the PC would randomly freeze and I can't do anything. I haven't overclocked the CPU or GPU, just at the speeds they were at the out of the box. There were a few times a few nights ago whenever I'd restart and click to log in my profile, windows would play the start up sound and then at the end of it, the sound would just lock and then the PC would restart. The next morning, that stopped happening but I still don't know what caused it but apart from that, I had it a few times when I'd be loading up iRacing, the same thing would happen when its loading a track.
I had a look at the temperatures of the CPU and GPU in the AMD OverDrive utility and both of their idles average around 40C-45C so I wouldn't say they're exactly overheating (maximum operating temperature for CPU is 63C). The CPU fan is idling at around 3600RPM. I just ran the benchmark now as well and it came out at 8302 (but to be honest, I don't really know what it means). So can anyone shed on light on this? This is my build:
CPU: AMD Phenom II 965 Black Edition (C3 / 125W)
GPU: XFX 1GB ATI RadeonHD 5850 XXX
MB: Gigabyte GA790XTA-UD4 (AM3)
RAM: 4GB Corsair Dominator
PSU: Corsair TX650W
OS: Windows XP SP3 (32-bit)
yeah, its brilliant . I'm having a strange problem though. Whenever I try to load the 09 C4 or Focus, it just hangs at the menu and nothing happens. A couple times, it would load but the car's wheels would be all pointing in different directions, making the car undriveable so anyone know how to fix this? I downloaded Update 02 and applied the new version of the A8 carpack but its still there
Hi all! I've been looking everywhere for a forum dedicated to Granada MkII owners/enthusiasts but I've been met with no luck. It was hopeful with this site (Granada and Scorpio Online) so I registered there but I can't post anything because an admin needs to approve of my account but I'm also having problems with my account there since when I log out and back in again, I get an error of an invalid username. The main reason why I'm looking to join a forum like that is because I'm slowly restoring one. I've got the Haynes manual for it but there is a missing bit which is replacing the rear door triangular window. Cheers!
Hi all! This is something which I can find quite frustrating sometimes in leagues. Sometimes there can be an incident where two drivers collide where a certain driver is clearly at fault but continues on normally as if nothing happened and sometimes, some drivers let them past the next chance they can get to try and rectify their mistake.
Since I was a member of the CRC for sometime, one of the rules which I appreciated and respected was letting other drivers through if you passed them with an unfair advantage or nudging them so I try my best to do that whenever it happens but I've noticed many choose not to and continue to race on normally. If the league is run properly, then it becomes a case of the admin dealing with it as he sees fit but is it still entirely justified even then? Because from my league experience, a driver could nudge another off, causing the other guy to spin round and lose tons of time while the driver who caused the incident gets off with a +10 seconds added to his/her race time which may not be enough to allow the other driver to achieve a higher position than him/her due to the high probability of the gap being larger than 10 seconds.
So, how would you view a situation like this? It could be said that maybe a harsher method of penalisation could help resolve the problem but its not really something that can be easily calculated since there are varying degrees of contact.
They're here and here. I'd have to underclock the second one from 1600Mhz to 1333Mhz or overclock it to 1666Mhz but I'm not buying any additional cooling so I'm not sure if I will overclock it.
