Im glad someone metioned the stare outs on the BL straight, I thought it was just me! So much fun

I think I am probably guilty of overuse of my sorry bind. Its because I am normally a pretty nervous racer, my instinct at any nudge is to hit that bind to avoid any potential offence, overly paranoid. Its wrong and I know it, I sometimes find myself thinking, "what am I apologising for? That wasnt my fault." Its never insincere, I genuinely regret any incidents, and its never to justify rough driving. But I will try to stop over using it.

Quote from Ball Bearing Turbo :No, he means in the settings screen where it shows how many native degrees the car's steering has (IE, the LX4 said "CARS STEERING WHEEL TURNS 720")

Thats what I meant as well, I just didnt explain it very well
Its still there for me.

Ever think maybe peoples reactions to Kid are slightly tainted by history?
What would the reaction have been if this had been posted by someone else?
Ok, no one else would have posted this, not like this anyway. Most people would have put a bit more explanation.
I havnt read it all, I may not, depends how bored I get, at least I have something to read if I do.
You may not get on with Kid, but he sometimes tells the truth, like that last post there.

The DFP extends about 16cm back from the edge of the table.
The clamping mechanism will fit any desk up to about 5cm thick.
Hope this helps

Quote from KayJay :Hi Scawen,

I've had a look through the thread and I don't think anyone else has commented on the fact that if the map is set to right, it is not visible during qualifying. It's fine for the race, but as soon as the qualifying positions are shown it's not visible. You have to set it to left to view it. The map is useful when looking for a clear area to do a good lap

Just double checked - the map is shown on the right, until someone completes a lap, the qualifying time is then shown and the map disappears.

To add to this and the few earlier comments, at the end of the race, with the map shown on the right, once the leader crosses the finish line the map disappears. I know the results are now shown in that space, but I still need/want the map. I often carry on racing if I have fuel left, just for the practise.
Is it possible to just bump the map down when the results come in? Actually, it might be nicer to have the results appear below the map if its displayed on the right.

Car's steering wheel turns isn't shown in steering settings!

EDIT: Reistalled U30 and U32 patch fixed problem

Quote from Kid222 :Mantis, can i ask you for K700i conversion please? I have tried it, but dont know....maybe i'm just stupid, but i can't convert it.

Ive been asked by a few people with different phones to convert it for them, so I might as well
I reckon I can cover 99% of Sony Ericsson phones with 4 or 5 versions, the K700 series will be there. Ive tweaked the original a bit as well, so when Im done Ill post the lot.

[edit: erm, actually, on reflection, its more like 80%, I will not be doing these phones - W950, M600, P990, P910, P900, sorry]

Sorry to anyone with phones from other manufacturers, its too much hassle for me to convert this to other phones. It just so happens the theme creator makes it very easy, not so with most other manufacturers.
btw, dont expect anything before the end of the week.

This conversion took me about 10 minutes, same as the first, I accept no responsibility for loss or damage etc etc
I dont even have the phone to test it on so it might look a bit rubbish.
At least you wont get eaten now

For Sony Ericsson T628

edit: btw this should work with these phones -
T610, T616, T618
T628, T630, T637
Z600, Z608

Quote from felplacerad :Sam, its a RACE CALENDAR. Why bloat the calendar with something that is not an event. I consider it to be a particularly sneaky move to make her "event" last past midnight, thus making it show up for two days.

Let Becky have her moment dude, alot of effort goes into those broadcasts.
Its a bit of extra advertising for an LFS event, how is that not relevant?
I say, live and let live for speed

Quote from BlakjeKaas :The themes don't work on K700i.

The K700i uses theme version 3.0, so no, this one will not work. But the free to download theme creator supports v3 so why not download it and have a go yourself? Its very easy, Ill even upload a zip with all the png's I used if it would help Edit: In fact, I just found out that the .thm files are zipped, so you can get the images from that.

Quote from shaun463 : can some1 do a lfs wallpaper for the nokia 3510i please

Do you have a data cable or some other way to transfer files between your phone and your pc? If you do you can make your own wallpaper, you just need to find out what size and format your phone needs.

Quote from tristancliffe :I too have answered the fridge light question, only I was confident of being able to open it from the inside myself, so didn't require a friend.

I've attempted the same thing with boot lights in cars, but did require a friend for that one.

I'm hoping next year to answer the 'if a tree falls in a forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a noise' question. Not sure quite how yet, but suggestions would be nice. As a warm up I'm going to answer the (slightly related) question of 'do bears shit in woods', one I'm confident of being able to answer definitively.

Good work that man! My cousin in the US reliably informs me that next summer he is going to answer the age old question 'how much wood would a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?' some kind of training scheme is involved apparently.

I remember seeing a really cool design someone made on RSC using plastic plumbing tubing. The tudes were about 3 inches diameter and joined with standard pieces you can buy, like T bends, 90 degree etc.
There was a bit of extra hardware to attach the seat, wheel, monitor stand etc. The heavy duty tubes are strong enough to drill through and fix mdf to.

When I build one, Ill probably start of with something fairly easy to put together like this

Quote from Gentlefoot :A bit like not knowing if the fridge light goes off when we shut the door lol

Ah but I can confirm that it does! How do I know? I got in a fridge and shut the door I had a very trustworthy friend outside to open it for me.
Also, you are assuming we never find a way of observing something without using photons

A more important question for me is, why should we care what the world will be like in 1,000,000 years time?

At the kart track I work on I regularly hear tyres squealing.
It needs a dry track, fast drivers and a fast corner.
Im no expert so this is just info, these are rental karts with 13hp, twin engines (6.5hp each) on Biz chassis.
I imagine the tyres are quite hard, but they are definately slicks.

On Topic - Gentlefoot, if your still after the pick up and play thing you can have my copy of Toca Race Driver 2. I never play it, its rubbish.
pm me if your interested
I still fire up GPL occasionally, the demo on BHM got me into it a few years ago. Updating it is not as hard as you think, and definately worth the effort. Never been online with it, and its so ridiculously hard I enjoy the challange. I never expect to make a full lap without spinning, when I do its great, when I dont I just laugh.

I made this for my own use but thought I might share it.
I think most of the graphics are from LFS itself, the garage menu background is by Huru-aito Im pretty sure. If anyone objects to graphics being used without permission I will remove this if required. I apologise in advance if anyone takes exception to me using their graphics without permission.
Just thought it might be nice for some one with the same phone.

Mines a K800i but this should work with any Sony Ericsson that uses theme version 4.5. According to the theme creator manual these are K610, K800, K790, W850, Z710, W710, Z610 and W830 series. Edit - looking at the manual again, Id say only try it with the K800, K790, W850, W830 series.

WARNING - Ive only tested this with a K800i, I accept no responsibility for loss or damage etc etc

There seems to be some bugs in the theme creator when editing the homescreen. I cant get it to work properly anyway. Im quite happy with the rest of it

This version does not include the ring and message tones I added because that version is 1884kb. All I did was convert from raw or ogg to mp3 so you can do that yourself if you want. I use WinRace.raw for messages and setupscreenloop.ogg for the ring tone.
I used Switch for the conversion.

Bear in mind the preview below is generated by the theme creator, on the phone it will look slightly different, part of that is your service providers own tweaks.

Comment, criticism, improvement suggestions welcome

Just done a quick test and it works fine here, good work

Quote from AndroidXP :Finally - that one took quite some time.

??? 26 hours and 24 minutes after I requested user presets and 16 hours and 36 minutes after axus requested "look to apex" you posted a new version with both requests implemented. Astonishing really

Or maybe you were being sarcastic?

The trouble is we sometimes get races where almost nothing happens, very few position changes. It seems most of our customers dont really push it alot. Its mainly corporate stuff so unless the company is motorsport based they generally are of such wildly differing abilities they can almost finish the race in qualifying order. We had the some guys from Mitsubishi RalliArt not so long ago, they were all very quick and it made for a very interesting race.
Also, only have kart numbers to work with makes it hard to make it interesting. "kart 1 leads kart 4 by 8 seconds....etc". The rest of the guys manage it so Im sure Ill get the hang of it, rather than just reading out positions and laptimes which is what I mostly did tonight

I started another part time job recently, as if I wasnt busy enough as it is.
I quite enjoy this one though as its at the local kart track. Ive been marshalling up until now but tonight I run my first event as race director.
Im looking forward to it, just hope I dont mess up!
Any other race directors here?
