Quote :think Mazar understands this, and is not debating that fact. What he's saying is that it is NOT a result of air deflection on top (e.g. Newton's Third Law) that the wing generates downforce, and in order to eliminate confusion, he's using the word pull not push to emphasize this. Is this correct? That way we're all on the same page.

Quote :No. That is wrong.

Hehe, sure could be..depending on the exact shape, angle of hand etc, lol

It is a very complicated series of laws to explain easily and I thought that might fit, the point being the air on the racing wing is most certainly pulling down not pushing down.

Quote : All very simplified as there isn't a human being who has ever lived that understands exactly how and why wings work.

Aerodynamics are well understood, wings especially and certainly not a black art in automotive racing terms.

Quote :Air cannot pull. Air can only push. So the LACK of air under the wing can't push as hard as the air on top, and so the air on top wins.

Incorrect. If you hold you hand out of the window of a car, angled upwards front to back like the rear wing of a formula single seater, it is not the air pushing your hand down.

The air underneath your hand travels faster than the air above your hand, pulling your hand down. When you increase the steepness of your rear wing the distance the air has to travel underneath increases and this gains more downforce, or negative lift.

Quote :Correct. It's a Newton's Third Law type of setup. Air pushed up by the wing pushes the wing and car into the ground.

Incorrect.

Air flow UNDER the wing PULLS the car down.

I cannot find the username on LFSW.

Hello Falke,

Ill get his correct details today. It is MacDuff i think racer name.

Quote : By the way: I controled the entry requirement for this series, and higlighted the drivers who already done 500laps on KY1.

Quote : One thing I noticed! I used the wrong trackcode for the Grand Prix of Aston! It won't be on Grand Touring (AS6), it will be on North (AS7)! I corrected the mistake here in the forums. In the rulebooks is still AS6!

Cool, i will correct it in tracks list.

The LFSCART road course server is live today, running LFSCART series tracks and is at - FRO| LFSCART | FormulaRacing.org

I will send you PM with passwords later today!

my original number is actually number 1. Thats whats on my skin if you will allow it....

Hi Guys,

Players is not a member of team FRO (although is welcome, hope he knows that :nod

Players is entering the LFSCART series as well as the Kyoto500. LFS CART rule book, says..no number #1 in the first year of series.

Personally i agree with that rule, no #1 until end of year.

Quote : FRO #2 server will be public from tomorrow running LFSCART/FO8 on the series road courses.

FRO | LFSCART server is now live and will be running LFSCART series road course tracks alternating through to 1 week prior to each event when it will be solely set for practise for each event.

TFalke55, JO53PHS & J@tko - I will get admin details to you later today for this server, so you can admin sessions when around.

Quote :pheeeew... did it... 300laps + hotlap below 38

Yes well under 38, well done.

Don't forget, Sunday afternoons on the FRO Oval server, practise with rolling starts, 25 plus laps races with pit stops under LFSCART rules.

Quote :Why does it say provisional entry by my name???

Hoi Players,

I put provisional by it just in case you did not get me when chatting on the FRO server. Gets a bit hectic in there sometimes.

Server sign up's will always be listed as provisional until registered or confirmed with FALKE the series organiser, here or in person with him on one of the servers.

Excellent to see you confirmed your entry, it has all the makings of a really great race series!

See you soon, hopefully on Sunday next when we will have some practise 25minute races with qualifying and a rolling start with compulsory pit stop running from 6pm - 8pm GMT on the Formula Racing Oval server.

FRO #2 server will be public from tomorrow running LFSCART/FO8 on the series road courses.

We can volunteer a reserve safety car driver for you, if needed from the FRO Admins for rounds your competing in.

Back up experienced admins if needed from our crew are available to help at anytime.

Quote :Dear LFSers , I want some feedback on what you think and would you come , for some time now my parents have been thinking on selling up in spain and moving to portugal to build a kart track , if this were to go ahaed would any of you be interested in having a lfs meet there some time in the future (if it goes ahead ) . im intereted in doing this , cos some of the stuff weve looked at in Portugal is so Cheap compared to back in the UK or Spain .

Bad idea. Most of the Kart tracks here in PT are empty, not doing that well at all. Our local mega facility barely has anyone on there ever, ive been a few times and never encountered anyone else on the circuit.

Do your research very carefully is my advice.

Quote :We've tested this in a 3 hour endurance race yesterday and with that function turned off, the lag is gone. So there must be some problem with it.

Thanks also Gai.

Hope this sorts this bug.

Best all, great work..

Quote : If you have any questions - post them below

The cones in the layout for the 500 on entry to and exit from pitlane, could be a issue with a lot of cars on the track.

Running this layout I have noticed a couple of times accidents due to these being knocked into, or hit by a racer.

There is also a wall option for those areas of the track that I have seen.

Just a thought guys, not saying its not correct as for sure it is realistic, but then so could be the wall especially in such a *virtual* big race.

Having raced with both, i personally think the wall works very well, containing those exiting from pit lane or entering.

Having noticed it, thought i would raise it.

Just a observation after being taken out by a sign..

Quote :still thinking about it. Westhill or Blackwood, that's the decision that will have to be made.

Only comment on BL1GP Track for F08 is there is not many passing places in longer races. Westhill a great open track with many passing opportunities. Maybe a consideration in longer races that can be running under whole course yellows, but of course makes it also a severe test.

Quote :We still look for a competition server. I will include you as sponsor if you can host the competition server. (in the broadcasts)

Sure, go ahead. Consider it done

Server is 47 slot, 32 grid server by Storm and yes you are welcome to it for the series dates.

We where thinking of something similar, as a series as the F08 makes for a very good 'cart' type car.

Quote : So you want to join? i hope you have read the rulebook

Rule book is a great effort.

Sure we FRO would like to join your series and entries from Me, Maissi, Brit_ORC, Hatboy, Mac and Felix are for sure.

So now as organiser you got a dedicated 'LFSCART' server, 6 entries and a sponsor, Lets Race!

Nice idea for a series, count me in please if you do it.

Maybe 3 visits to Oval, with one reversed.

West Hill is very good for the F08, IMHO.

We have a server running KY Oval&FO8, with intentions to run F08 on other tracks. So maybe can help.

Server is at FRO - FormulaRacing.Org which we set up to get some practise in ourselves for oval racing.

Best of luck, thanks for making the efforts in organisation.

Quote :There are three barriers on alternating sides which force drivers to go very very slowly through there. As far as I'm aware it isn't possible to go through there and gain time, only lose time.

I thought it was specifically designed in this way for use as an escape road. I've used this escape road myself a couple times when there has been a massive pileup in that chicane on the first lap. It's very slow, but a sure way to avoid getting crashed into.

It is a escape route isn't it?

If on outside of Turn 1 it is the only route back to the track if knocked off there. In that context, its useful.

Cant see how you could gain time there.
