+1. Pain in butt to move mouse for 2 seconds trying to find the cursor, then finding out you have to hit N twice, then move the mouse again to click on the arrow. Would be worthless if you needed to spec a teammate during a race, you'd probably crash.
It sounds like your videocard is overheating. When is the last time you cleaned out your case / videocard heatsink? Might want to get some compressed air.
Also, if you OC'd the card, try it with stock settings.
Can you try turning on VSync? 250fps is nice, but that might be what's interfering with it. See if the bug is still there with v sync (also, may I suggest some AA for that 500fps you say you get? )
FPS problem: when turn button mode changed to classic style (2 buttons = 180 degrees) I get half of the max FPS when looking behind me, 30fps. I get constant 60 fps everywhere else with front/side view, only effects looking behind me. (phenom II x2 550 @ 3.8ghz, 4870 512, 1920x1080)
edit: it's a general FPS problem. Turned off vsync and it's only at about 60 most of the time. the 30 fps instance was looking behind while spectating someone, view had many barriers. I got much better FPS with z15.
hey that's me! I think that's been so for awhile, I remember seeing shadows on the wall when someone spawns in pit garage next to me. Depends on the time of day/track
bug reports: everything smooth in game. After install of patch, I went into multiplayer, went into windowed mode by default, I went back to main menu to change that, and LFS crashed. No crashes after changing the setting, though. (windows 7 64-bit)
I might be up for something like this, haven't competitively raced in awhile. Once you guys get everything set up I should be on daily around 5-8pm EDT for about an hour or so. On weekends probably longer.
uh oh.. I'd buy a new PSU if I were you. The corsair 450vx would get my recommendation if you can find one used: it powered my old rig with a gtx 260 core 216, phenom II 720, 2 hard drives, etc. all overclocked, absolutely fine.
but no, it's not fine. You can get the i7 920 d0 for $199 + tax at any Microcenter. If you don't have one near you, get someone to ship one to you after you send them the $.
I'd say go AM3. Non-dead socket (775 is dead/dying), DDR3/2, competes with i5 for a fraction of the price. I got a used 790fx mobo for $65, a phenom II x2 550 for $75, and quality 4gb DDR2 for $40.
Use the money saved to get a better heatsink, either a Xigmatek s1283 or a coolermaster v8 would be my recommendations. Might want to get a better graphics card, too. Not sure what you're using.
Clean your PC of any dust, especially in your 8600's heatsink. Remove the sticker, unscrew the heatsink and fan, disconnect the fan, clean out the heatsink with compressed air and cotton swabs, re-install and tell us if it still happens
The G.Skill Trident 2x2gb DDR3 is usually liked by those who buy it, but I'm not to keen on DDR3 memory. If I were you I'd just get an AM2+ board with good DDR2. But for future-proofing I can see your reasoning.
But yeah for the money, just grab a 750tx instead of a 650tx, and either some G.Skill Trident ddr3, or G.Skill Pi ddr3.
After doing all the things Jason said in the last post, if it still doesn't work call Logitech (best way of contacting them is by phone) and ask to troubleshoot (trust me, I asked straight away for an RMA since I already troubleshooted offline and the guy absolutely flipped about how people try to rip companies off, blah blah) and eventually try to get an RMA. Usually they'll want you to cut the cables OR just ship the shifter to them for proofz. After that, take apart your pedals and try to fix it
That power supply would be fine if you weren't going for Crossfire, but since you are you should go with a 750tx. That'll be fine for you.
You might want to get a better heatsink than the Freezer. Depending on your budget you can go for a few things: top of the line - Prolimatech Megahalem with 4 fan clips and 2 120x38mm San Ace 101 fans in a push pull config.
Midrange - Coolermaster V8
Lower end (yet still much better than arctic cooling freezer) - Xigmatek HDT-s1283
You might want to look for some memory with lower CAS timings for better performance.
For the motherboard, go for the GA-MA790FXT-UD5p. That supports full 16x 16x crossfire and you won't be bottlenecked.
Regarding the headset, I tend to steer clear away from anything labeled "fatal1ty". Many people like the Sennsheiser 555 + clip-on mic but at $140 that might be out of your price range.
Everything else looks good though
edit: for now I'd advise against going Crossfire. At 1080 resolution, you won't need the extra horsepower for playing many games. I'd say still get the 750tx, get one 4890, and in the future if you're not getting enough frames per second, throw in another one.
And I'm not sure of the availability where you are, but have you thought about a different monitor? I'd go for a Samsung 2233SW for around the same price.
About how much you can get out of overclocking: quite a bit. The Phenom II's overclock very well and I'm sure you can get to 4.0 ghz with a Megahalem with the board I suggested. Overclocking the video card is really easy and usually very worth it, just make sure your overclocks are STABLE! Nothing worse than having your computer lock up during a 12h race.
Capitalism at it's best. Nothing wrong with someone else having a better product for the money. It brings the price of future models of competing companies down (then again, the g27's MSRP is still $300. Stupidity on Logitech's part IMO)
