120 for 8gb he said. (and you REALLY don't need 8gb of ram, dadge, unless you're doing CAD work or similar)
If I were him, I would get a 955, 4gb of ddr2/3, a GTX 460 1GB once available (is photoshop more CPU intensive or GPU? Think the 5830 should be good either way) and spend the money saved on an SSD and a good storage 1TB drive
Hm, it's $50 more than the 785gm-E51 over here, and its brown haha!
it's a decent board, but considering what you're going to be doing I'd still go with the 785 with onboard video. You won't be going wrong with either of 'em, but you'd be spending more on the mobo itself and the graphics card you'll need since no onboard.
Well the onboard video should be enough for LFS, probably won't even need to have a dedicated video card for it. I'd say try it without buying the card first, and if you need more FPS, buy the 4550
550 watts will be fine for quad + gpu + 1-3 hard drives. (550vx should do, as well) but If you really want to be future proof the 650tx shouldn't be too much more money.
The newest cards (5870/5850/5830 for ATI; GTX 285/275/260 for NVidia) Only use around 150-250 watts when under 100% load.
yeah AGP won't work with the mobo. If you think a 9600 is good for you, then you probably won't need that mobo ... or a dedicated video card thinking about it
I'd go with this
MSI 785GTM-E45 - the onboard HD4200 should be enough for you. (according to this article, it's 3 tiers above the radeon 9600
Corsair 450vx PSU - will hold it's own if you decide to add a higher end video card
No doubt in my mind at all, don't even have to think
MSI GD-70
as for graphics card, you have many choices. What's your budget? Around $100?
First, I'd definitely look at getting used, as I haven't had a single problem with any used computer hardware I've bought as long as it's from a trustworthy member.
9600gt or 9800gt is good budget nvidia card
4830 or 4850 is good budget ATI card
below that, 4670 will be your best bet.
PSU - if you ever plan on having MORE THAN ONE graphics card, I'd recommend a Corsair 650TX or 750TX
If only 1, a corsair 450vx. Do not buy a cheap brand like Logisys, they run the risk of killing everything if they die. Corsairs are very reliable (as are most antecs, and seasonics)
USB has much higher polling rates than PS/2 for mice. Some keyboards' on-board controllers do not work with PS/2 (ABS M1, for example) but for keyboards that support NKRO, PS/2 is the only way to get more than 6+4.
@op try looking at your settings in your operating system, there might be a "sleep" timer for your USB ports which your G25 might be triggering for some reason. Or maybe reinstall G25 drivers
