Got new graphics card. (still gotta send 4870 back for return rma :shy Also have two western digitals; have 30 days to send back old one . Thanks for reminding me to take pics of setup, jak. I'll probably do it in a month as I seem to procrastinate a lot.

Okay I downloaded nHancer and put all to recommended settings (and 32xs aa, 16x af) and get considerably lower fps now, around 95, which is to be expected. but I STILL get more jaggies than I had with my 7600gt not a month ago. I'm puzzled at why LFS looks to hideous now.
I ordered one of these for $155usd. Arrived today and couldn't be happier. Much better frames than 4870, as the games I play (source games mostly) prefer Nvidia. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a card at this budget. Prices have really plummeted! Bought it for futureproofing for Diablo III, Cities XL, and Starcraft II. Wanted the PhysX tech for other games, too. Hope card doesn't crap out a day after warranty
You are the one that smells of Nvidia fanboyism. ATI was ridden with buggy drivers back about 2 years ago. Since then they have been flattened out and are as stable as nvidia's. (I have owned a 7600gt, 4870, and a gtx 260 core216 is on it's way, so don't call me a fanboy) Albeit, I prefer Nvidia's AA along with its control panel and folding power above ATI, but that doesn't make ATI worse.
IIRC thats a corrupted texture file. (is it from video card or installation?:shrug Reinstall usually works. I get the same thing in a specific spot on Aston. annoying.
This is because AI / many cars take a lot of CPU horsepower, which a P4 cannot provide. If you upgrade the processor you will get better fps (btw, 3ghz dual core =/= 6 ghz. LFS is single threaded so only one core is used, so its 3ghz. and even if it wasnt it'd still be 3 ghz I wish I had a 9.99ghz tricore, but it doesn't multiply.)
Just wanted to update you guys on the build so far.
Received antec 300 in mail awhile ago, and ordered 4870 512mb (open box, $125. steal!) and corsair 450vx, which should be arriving thursday. I tried to buy the mobo/cpu/ram/hsf with the bill me later but was denied (:shy so will wait a month to buy them. I had my eye on PhII x3 720, 4gb crucial ballistics, GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P, andXIGMATEK HDT-S1284ee. $30 off combo deal cpu/mobo but that won't last long enough. Any suggestions will be appreciated!
Proof or it didnt happen. Please dont accuse me of things without proof, as I don't recall ever bashing a demo user for not choosing to spend money.
Maybe he spent all his spare money on his g25 to replace that aging momo beside the desk that he had used for other racing sims?
It's all speculation until he posts why he hasn't though. So
edit: now I see his only two posts contain a picture of his rig, and one contains the specs on his computer. Maybe he's showing off that he has all that but doesn't have to buy S2. Kinda hilarious, imo. But still, you don't have to constantly tell demo'ers they should buy S2, I'm sure they're fully aware of it.
The paddles themselves aren't one solid bar. They are two seperate paddles connected to a pcb with 2 pieces of metal that, when contacted hard enough (when you hear the *click*) hit a button that completes a circuit and changes the gear. Hold on I'll take some pictures.
I'd take a picture of how it hooks up when connected, but I cba to take the wheel off, as one of the wires of a button on the wheel has a very flaky connection and don't want to have it disconnect.
I was thinking; maybe I should get the 790x version of the MoBo, then get the 4770 graphics card (~$100) in a month or two, and the 450 watt version of the corsair psu, so if I didn't get enough performance with the single 4770, I could crossfire em (since they only use 80 watts each) for great AA and a tad better performance. Would cost a bit more money, so I'm not sure.
edit: actually screw it. Ill just keep the old plan, and maybe get a 4870 1gb.
I suggest you wait about a week or two, when the 4770 comes out. Uses about 80 watts and performs almost as well as the 4850, for ~$100. Well worth the money
