Quote from Hyperactive : With the increase of processing power the quality will of course go up as well because you are no longer limited with what is possible to do with the hardware.

I get your point but you have to realize that while we're not limited by the processing power, we are limited by the ammount of programming put into those games. In other words, it would take years and years to perfect the physics calucations (like LFS). It's not just something you can do in an afternoon. The physics in the 90's games were pretty simple.

Quote from Hyperactive : It's like 20 years have gone by and only thing that has improved is the processing power that allows more mistakes to be made every second. It's like tristan said. Graphics have improved 10000x but physics only 1.5x. And when you look at what is achievable that is just very poor result.

Name a racing SIMULATOR from 1992. Go on. And if you manage to do that, compare it with LFS. Is it only 1.5x better physics wise?

Back in 2006, I came by the LFS demo somehow. (can't remember how). I started playing it and I was amazed how realistic it felt.

A couple of days after that, a friend called me that he found a really cool racing game, I just replied "is it called live for speed?". Long story short, we found LFS totally intependetly and we both liked it from the first launch.

A couple of months after that, we started a team which had it's 6th anniversary a month ago...

Excellent news and work. One might find these fixes "small", but the amount of work behind them is surely huge.

Also, here's a small wish to the devs: I'd be happy if you would include something special for christmas. Hint: content : P

You must be quite famous, since you know all the drifters. I can't believe that someone can actually think that.

Some confirmed info
Quote :- Whole map will be open from the start
- The dynamic world of Red Dead Redemption was the starting point to create a living world in GTA V
"Our goal is to surpass RDR", said Dan Houser.
- Prisons and Canyons
- The satire of the American society will include things like Hollywood, the porn industry, weed smuggling, homeless people, a bankrupt government
- Radio will be dynamic, in the sense that it will tell the weather and news as it comes
- Underwater world (and underwater caves) and diving equipment
- Houser said that missions similar to Taxi, Ambulance and Vigilante will be back, BUT "probably not identical to the ones in previous GTAs as they wouldn't fit in the 3 protagonists personalities, but the 3 protagonists will have odd jobs to do".
- About the 3 protagonists skills: Trevor will be the skilled helicopter pilot, Franklin the skilled driver and sniper, Micheal the "smooth operator", skilled and versatile.
- The idea about creating Micheal came from the question: "What would a typical GTA protagonist (that would typically aged around 25-35 years) ask after he's retired, and in his mid 40's?".... "Where's the action?"
- Franklin is looking for a mentor, and finds one in Mike after they meet during one of Franklin's repoman jobs.
- Trevor is an ex-military pilot.
- Trevor is made from the inspiration of the typical GTA player that only roams around the game creating havoc, death and destruction.
- According to Houser, missions types will vary among "big and small events , explosive, infiltration, super spectacular, family, invasion, hostage recovery, heists and robberies. Plus classic GTA missions but updated and improved."
- They played the same mission of GI, called "The Execution".
- Euphoria engine is at its best.
- Draw distance improved.
- No notice of popping up in the scenery.
- Cover mechanics have been greatly improved and cover will be very important in the gameplay.
- About the economy, Houser says: "you will be able to spend money to buy interesting and fun things… expensive toys. We are still working on the economy, but it will be a strong element in the game and players will be eager to make money to spend money. Something along the lines of — 'I went through all of this to make all this moneym and now I'm going to spend it on this crazy item.'"
- Biggest selection of vehicles in any GTA game.
- Dynamic music in missions
- No COOP in SP.
- MP will be a huge part of the game and it will be very addictive.
- MP has been developed by a separated team and it will has been developed as something as important and full of content as SP.
- COOP confirmed in MP

- Less emphasis on killing
- String of robberies as the focus, and not just banks
- All three characters are motivated to rob for money, not 'for the fun of it'
- There will be some times where the playere will be forced to switch protags, but suggests that this is only for some missions where a specific skill set is required to complete the mission.
- Protags that are living their normal lives when not on a mission can be found USING the Toilet
- The zoom-out/zoom-in effect when changing Protags only happens when not on a mission. On mission it is different to this.
- You can switch protags off-mission and eavesdrop the other protag without necessarily taking control. You can use the information you hear when eavesdropping to your advantage for when you do have control.

Well, practice. From the beginning. Try Fern Bay rather than kyoto, gold rev for example. Try to do "power-overs" like in the drift bible, go in the corner slowly and add throttle at the end of it to slide the rear out. In LFS, you don't need to use e-brake to initiate a drift, a fling is enough even if you have cold tyres. (Just transfer the weight of the car and lift off the throttle, the car will slide.)

Also, it would be good if you set up your wheel properly, I think that 720° wheel radius is the best for starting. (you can move to 900 if you wish)

BTW, if your tyres are too hot, it's harder to control the drift. You need to go much more slowly and use less throttle in the corners, maybe that's why you always spin.

S2 licence - 30€
Logitech G25 - 260€
Logitech G27 - free, got it from logitech when my G25 broke..

If I would count my computer setup, it would be an another 1000€+, but I didn't get my computer just for SIM racing, so that's that.

The truth is, from the users point of view, vB is totally fine (at least from mine). I can't think of a good reason to switch from this, as it's doing everything I expect from a forum.

Quote from PoVo :Good luck insuring a BMW in the UK.

Sorry, I didn't know it's so hard(expensive) to insure cars in the UK.

I'm 19 years old and I could insure a BMW 535i for about 200€/year here
