Even the GTR cars which race in the endurance races don't have any systems installed? Not even the teams use the telemetry for this? Not even in F1?[/pain]

Yeah it is strange. race cars have many gauges so why not fuel level? What if the engine is burning more fuel due to the failure? Or a hamster did a hole in a tank, and fuel is slowly getting out?
Quote from herki :The UF 1000 shouldn't have one... Most of the cheapo cars I drove didn't have one

Nah, maybe they where Volkswagen's. You have to pay them for ridiculous things that should be in standard.
Quote from al heeley :I'd like an 'arcadey' solution, a light that comes on to warn when you have only 1 lap's worth left, basically a 'Pit-In' indicator.

It will not be so arcade. ECU could know your fuel per lap usage, according to position from GPS receiver and calculate when is your last lap with actual fuel level.

+1 for real idicators and gauges. Different for road cars, race cars, openwheelers etc.

Maybe if he could write any word in post we all will be able know what he meant exactly...

My God, are you advocate of someone? If you don't like my words pm a moderator.
I didn't wrote anywhere that my posts are better than any other.
I don't know if everybody wants the cars I want, because I didn't requested any.
I am positive to any request of others, and I'm not writing -1 or 'what for?' just because I have no idea how to class that car or I'm not liking that kind of cars.

Drift cars? sure
monster trucks? why not
nascar? give it up
WRC? damn yes!
karts? yes
WTCC? ok
supercars? hooray!
road cars? yep
offroad? cool
any other? yes, yes and yes!

Will not drive all of them, but why to get rid of happiness other people?

Quote from sinbad :The suggestion isn't simply to add more cars to LFS, so I don't know why you have said that, and your previous posts are just as obscure, even though the basic message you appear to be sending is that any contrasting or alternative opinion is negative. Wrong (IMO)

Because that:
Quote from sinbad :We all want more cars

just isn't true after reading many topics like this.

Everytime someone post an idea of new class, opponent for the existing class or brand new car, someone 'ultra-clever' comes and says: "What for?"
And what's the point? Any argument maybe please? Or be more positive to life and try to think how to fix that idea to keep LFS with sense.
After many discussions and propositions, when some of them are really good, another 'ultra-clever' guy comes and says: 'what for?'

And what was that post?

So you drive only drive ONE car in lfs?
And better don't think about Koenigsegg in lfs. There will be no additional cars for you!

very colorful

edit: if there is full skin posted, not only preview, everyone can use it online?

Balancing can be done by adding more vehicles too.
Let's say, we get brand new 3.0 V6 biturbo rwd 300bhp into 'turbo' class. It will be outstanding, so... hokus pokus - there are another two cars, balanced to the new one. Now we've got 6 cars in turbo class. 3 slower, 3 faster.

OK, thats silly example, but that's how I think it could look.

OMG. Why always after some kind of suggestion like this, people are screaming: 'No! No! what for?! der wheel bee no kompetitour! no!'

If there will be no competitor, we can get another car to compete with. Simple.

Why there must be 3 cars per class? Why not 4? Why not 10?
Or maybe there shouldnt be any car?

The more cars - the better.

Or if your cooler is full of dust, it will heat up and break down

Anyway, shouldnt that curved damage rotate with the wheel? Cause steering wheel shacking and car unstable?

dear Santa, please make my sentences more logical...

It could be useful. When I was a demoracer (hmmm yesterday?:razz if you had colorful name with team tag you could ban everyone. Especially when a great laptime by you on the finish table. I was using standard color in my nickname, and doh, try ban a wrecker then...

Maybe your idea could help with many noobs. But also clean drivers will be forced to drive the oval for 8h to get the limit of these 5000km to be 100% LFS citizen. On the other hand, some noobs will always be noobs, and even 70mld km will not change them. Sometimes I wish I could vote 'no!' anyway...

btw, it is funny that you can vote to ban yourself

Quote from Gentlefoot :When I play late on a Friday night after a bottle of vino everything is blurred whether I'm moving or not lol

true, true. I thought it was wine? or vain? I don't remember

The road near the car could be also blured. In open wheelers you can see much of the road I think

Now, let's everyone give 1 euro for somebody to do that test IRL

BTW, how about laptimes of AI?

Quote from Forbin :
However, it certainly isn't impossible to get some serious power out of a small engine without forced induction. Case in point, motorcycles. More specifically, since it has the same 1.3L displacement, the Suzuki Hayabusa. It produces about 170 HP at 10,000 RPM. It has an extremely oversquare engine (short stroke, large bore) and extremely aggressive cams.

XF GTIs engine is small, hi-reving and nearly normal powered. I think that engine with that revs should have ~150bph. With 115bph this revs are nonsense. Also hi-reving engines like to be hi-reving, otherwise they're very weak. As I know little hipowered, hireving engines have a redline close after peak bph, to prevent reving it ahead and cause damage. XFG has max power at 7000rpm, redline at...9500rpm. Pretty long, but rev limiter is all 1k rpm later, at 10500rpm. What is that for for car with max torque at 5400rpm?

All cars in demo has that 'issue', and S2 maybe too, when I look at their tech specs.

Quote from cpachmann :Well..i think you cant generalise that, as there is so a hugh variety of different cars, tracks, strategies, wheterconditions where tyre pressure does a hugh difference in laptimes. I´m pretty shure that a f1 cars tyre pressure is above of an f3000´s tyre presure couse of the different forces on the tyres, as an example.

Sure, someone could say that his wr set is realistic because that pressure is used in offroad
I expected answer about similar conditions and car type rather.

Except fuel consumption, I'm worrying about acceleration.
+0,5bar won't give you additional kick at long straight, but +2,5 will

Quote from Vain :At a given gas consumption (f.e. full throttle constant rpm) the increased rolling resistance lowers speed.
At a given speed (driving on the highway at given mph) the increased rolling resistance increases the fuel consumption necessary to maintain that speed.

And the point of this thread was: what/how much/in which way, must be changed to make LFS closer to reality, in the tyre pressure case.

Once again, anybody knows the tyre pressures used in motorsports?
It should be a good base for discussion.

Yes, I understand that (I suppose) after reading this forum o lot.

One day I was speeding through corners (not even close how I do it in LFS), and after a corner my steering wheel was hardly shaking. There was something wrong with the wheels so I checked the car. There was 1,5 bar in whole 4 wheels (maybe because of winter temperatures). Usually I use 2,2 bar.

Cornering on the limit with low tyre pressure is just scary and dangerous! Also the car feels wobbly on the road.

And I don't think it will be 2mph drop on the end of the straight. It could be 2-20km/h on the whole straight, not the end. IMHO of course.

Maybe someone knows what pressures are used in real racing, in cars similar with those we have in lfs. WTCC or something?

Hi, there were tons of discussion about how air pressure in tyres affects grip and heat. But what about acceleration and top speed? What about fuel consumption?
IRL i have noticed that my car accelerate better when changed the pressure from 2,0 bar to 2,5 bar. But in LFS the difference between 1,25 and 3,75 is very tiny (watched G forces). It's mad!

Then you can see hotlappers speeding without air in their tires lol.
In fact, even I'm fan of realism, I had to drop the pressure down a little to be competitive in online racing

My times where better, yes, but what is fun in using setup that cheats the physics laws?
