A preview of my new xrg. Still some work to do i think.

Great driving there but the camera angle is a bad choice imo because we hardly see how close they are from each other. A more wider angel or another cam view would have been more appropriated.

You can do c++ and c++ .net. One use the framwork, the other don't.

Another good idea is using XNA. It's another microsoft langage oriented toward the game development.

I was very disapointed when i saw that the digital speedo was gone but now i get used to the analogue speedo.

But, i realy think that the user should have the choice between the speedo since it don't give a sinificant advantage or disadvantage. A lot of other reasons has already been explained.

Great work victor!
It's now realy easy to make an accurate opinion of how fast i drive in comparaison of the best of us.

Quote from bbman :You can bring the digital speedo in roadcars back, but keep it realistic at the same time: update the displayed speed every 2 seconds... Because THAT'S how slow they are!

That would be a solution. A real (realistic, for the realistic's fan) digital speedo.

Quote from bbman :
Stock digital speedometers are USELESS, an analogue speedo is just better...

Fo you maybe. Everybody have his preferances.

Quote from psychometalist :That will be again unrealistic IMO. Imagine a racer moving his head to see the gauges, would be silly (and impossible).

I think a digital speedo (or a bigger speedo) popping in pitlane would be a better solution.

Unrealistic to move the head up and down? Why would the move left and move right be more realistic? IRL you can move your head in 6 dof (did you ever tryed?).

Here again, to have an accurate and realistic modelisation of the head move you should use a track ir. But does it mean that you must remove the old way to do it (pressing buttons) ??? I don't think so, just let the user have the choice!

Quote from JTbo :Missing of digital speedo will teach you to drive properly, not playing game of what number I should have in this corner

- Does people who have a digital speedo drives better than people with analogic speedo irl & in the game? I'm not sure that it realy matter ...
- It has been said that the speed displayed on the digital speedo are only indicatifs becasue the speed is calculated on the wheelspin so the digital speedo is as approximative as the analogue one. So "playing game of what number i should have in the corner" is meanless.

Quote from Electrik Kar :I reckon everyone should just hold their breath until we see what's been planned with the interiors update, which will most probably be revealed sometime shortly after the holidays. Many interiors are being updated and that may mean improvements to the readability of gauges.

Also, I'm sure it won't be too hard for someone to make a digital speedo mod along the lines of the analogue gauge mod we have now, if there's enough support for it down the road. Devs don't need to do everything..

Yes wait and see for the interiors. I realy hope the readability of the tacho will improve. The dev already increased the size of the font. It helped a bit.

But I don't agree with you when you say "Make a mod". I don't see the point to make a mod when the feature is already embded into the application.

Quote from MAGGOT :In regards to the track map, a comprimize would be to have a paper taped to the steering wheel with the track map on it (and possibly turn numbers/names, preferred gear, etc) as seen in many real race cars.

Or let the damn user have a choice! Just a button in the options. Easy and efficient. Everybody have his preferances and in the real life you have choice ...

The digit speedo miss me too

The point i don't get is: Why just don't let the choice to the user? A digital speedo is not an advandage or a disadvantage against the other drivers. And if you were driving in a real car, these kind of modification can be done by youreself if you wanted to. Moreover, more and more car (normal car, rather cheap, not only high price's car) can been found with a digital speedo. So i realy don't understand why is the removal of the digital speedo a major improvement to get closer to the reality since these kind of speedo are aviable in the reality . . .

Quote from ajp71 :I sure hope so

Although I would like a quick map to be available on a button press to let you see if the immediate track was clear for leaving the pits or recovering (ie. not something that draws the whole track or that is intended to be used whilst racing).

Here again: Why not just give the opportunity to the user to define if he rather want the mini map to be displayed all the time or not.
It's also like the virtual mirrors and a lot of other things like moving the head. Why not removing the button to turn the head? If you want to have this feature you should buy a Track Ir to be "close to the reality" ...

Sorry for the offtopic

Edit: Ho damn, i didn't saw the "Test Patch Forum". Sorry, it was really a dumb question

Quote from evilpimp :Not sure bout that :P but yeah it does seem like an amazing patch. I was expecting crash physics changed I dunno if that is changed. (I know there is some changes in the physics but what about crashs and damage to the car?)

Wasn't that said that car damaging with flying parts would be added for shure but not before S3? But who knows ...

Anyway, we'll see that soo: 28 days left to the redline

Edit: In This post, he said: "Improved Collision Detection".

I'm not a huge fan of the F1 cars but I enjoyed a lot the Fox. This new formula seems to be pretty nice and accesible. Mr Scawen, you did an exellent job as usualy!

I'm also glad to see that the IA is improved. Even if LFS is a multiplayer game, I drove a lot with the IA since I wasn't able to join the internet players. Anyway, thanks for this news!

We should always keep in mind that there is no reasons why the dev's need our password. They surely can modify our accounts and password if they wanted. So, if there was a technical issue they would rather make the modifications and send you the new password (if changed) by an official mail.

By the way, his mail is too funny. An hotmail one ? Rofl!

What a great video!

I have the whole stcc season (execpt the 8 offcourse) and its amazing how we can see the improvement between the 1st and the 10th race. It's an amazing work you've done there!

But you can do better
It would be nice if the retired driver was shown in the driver list but in gray with a little R just beside his name or something like that. It would give a good idea of how many driver has retired from the race.

Another improvement would be to show the diffrence between the laptime of the aimed driver. It was a close race between V. Szabo and Pinnola but its hard to have an idea of how close it is. There is still space on the screen to be exploited. It could be displayed on the right bottom of the screen.

Finnaly, when the race is over you show the "parc fermer" lap and the drivers who go to pit. Why not display a final grid of the race? Like Name | Avergade Lap time | Best lap time? It would give a nice mix with commentaires and in the background the "parc fermer" lap.

Otherwize, the rest is quite perfect. A bunch of replay of the crash, nice video angles and also great actions! But i must agree with srdsprinter, it's sometimes mono-commentary wich is not bad but we'd like to hear more the second presentator.

Good work from all of you wich bring this stcc video!

Quote from flinty72 :Yep I do similar, I just scale it as best as I think then save each change into my CMX Viewer skins folder and reload the skin in Viewer to see how it looks until I get them right to how I want them to look. Bit time consuming but worth the effort if you want them to look right in-game.

More quicker way:
Open toshop, and create an "Action" (the second tab of the History).
The action to do is record under a .jpg (e.g.: save as jpg > c:\cmxviewer\data\skin\XRG_render.jpg). Don't forget to STOP the action when it's done.
Assign a Key to this action by double cliking on the action.
Launch the CMX viewer, and load the skin XRG_Render.jpg. Click on the "Auto" button near the "Reload" button.

Now all you have to do is to make your skin the press the key of the action and go to CMX viewer to see the change (automaticaly up to date).

Easy and way faster than make it manualy
