Nice Series 5 mate! S5 production dates were 1988(late)-1991(late).
By the way, if you haven't already come across it, www.rx7club.com is a great resource for you to bookmark.

Here's my S4 when i first got it:

As you can see, i change my mind alot illepall haha.

It's been a long 2 years and it's also been quite a learning curve... But i still love it, and i hope for the project to be finished within 12-14 months. The reason why it's stripped is because i'm saving money by doing it myself before it goes in to be resprayed. Plus, i don't trust workshops, so i like to do as much of it myself as i can, leaving little room for workshops dodgy work.

By the way, the XRT is modelled off a starion

Won't work, sorry.

You'll probably also find that any freely hosted website will have a very small bandwidth. Something like 200mb/month or along those lines.

If you're hosting an 8 man LFS server @ 25kb/sec upload, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week... i think you can see where i'm going with this. If you don't, then it means that you will use your monthly bandwidth in about 2 hours.

Nice thought, but unfortunately not possible.

+1 !

In regards to semi-public servers. Why not have the option to turn the whitelist on or off? If you only want the people in your list coming in, then turn the whitelist on. If you don't care who comes in, then turn it off. If you have so many friends that it's just impossible to add them all to the white list, then either don't be so lazy, or turn the white list off.

Quote from XCNuse :well, on Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, if you vote and it fails (which.. it always does, because it requires 99% yes to pass.. kinda dumb), and you try to run the vote again, it cancels and says wait 5 or 10 minutes or something like that, and then if you try it again and it fails after that time, it threatens to kick you lol

that might work, but i cant say i've ever come across this problem before

Hey, you play ET too?

I think the system in LFS works well. And it's because of the way it shows the name of people who voted.

A big problem with the ET voting system is it's anonymous. People who vote yes don't have their name shown to the server and nobody seems to have regrets in mashing the "yes" key when the vote is outrageous. I'm sure we can all imagine the frustration of someone running into the back of you, then calling a kick vote against you and telling everyone in the server that YOU are a wrecker. Then because it's anonymous everyone just goes along with the vote with no regrets and boom, you're wrongfully kicked.

Anyway, i thought it's probably a good idea to bring that up. So, in regards to the time delay of the next vote, sure, that could possibly be a good thing. I, for one, don't see it necessary as i've never witnessed multiple votes being called on someone unless they are indeed a wrecker which some people hadn't noticed yet.

One thing i do know, if you take something away from someone, they either abuse what you leave them with or they find a new method.... Some times it's better to let sleeping dogs lie.

Here's what i would do...

There's two servers in the list that i'm trying to decide which one to join. One is the standard cars server with 10 people in it. One is the cup cars server with 10 people in it.

I would choose the cup cars. Why? Well why am i in a racing sim if i wanted to drive a car that tops out at 120km/h and can't take a sweeping bend at more then 40km/h without rolling?

Ahh, now this is where some of you say "that's the challenge". Ok, so we all have our different views on what's challenging and what is fun. Personally, i find controlling the BF1 @ 250km/h around a sweeping bend more challenging then controlling a stock XFG @ 50km/h around a sweeping bend. If there was a word which described the opposite to "adrenaline rush" then it would be stamped all over the non-cup cars.

Here's my suggestion:

We already have stock cars and cup cars. XRT-> XRR, XFG -> XFR, UF1 -> UFR etc etc.

I don't think an XFG should have adjustable suspension, camber, steering, gear ratios and so on and so on. I think the non GT cars that we currently have should be restricted to every day modifications. Tyre pressure, passengers, fuel, maybe suspension height and that is all. It's unrealistic to be able to change so many things on a bog stock road car, without basically changing it to what the GT cars are anyway. So i think there should be huge restrictions placed on the stock cars and make the GT cars the adjustable ones.

In closing; Would i still choose the stock car server? Probably not, but i'm jsut a speed/realism freak. If i were in a team that had the option to sign up for a stock car tournament, would i join? Yep.

You can't see your own server because it's on a local network IP.

When the server browser searches, it doesn't search for local IP's, it searches for Internet hosts, which is why you server doesn't show up in the list (to you).

:hyper: Mouse driver here!

Bog stock controls, LMB = Acc, RMB = Brake, S/X = Shift, C = Clutch.

The only problem with this when you move to S2 is that you jump out of the 180kw XRT into 350kw XRR and you find yourself tail happy quite a bit... Very hard to get 300kw to the ground when you're "digitally" mashing the accelerator on the floor.

Anyway, back to the point of this thread, Nascar skins...

I do have one that i have no idea how it ended up on my computer as i've had it since the demo... but here ya go.

Oh dude that is awesome!!

Thanks heaps!

If you get bored, any chance you could get a shot of the roof? With lots of beaming light on it? I just love the way the roof glows with sunlight on it: http://img134.imageshack.us/im ... 2/rockfordpreview33zb.jpg

Maybe like a dark surround with the lights shining on the roof so the glowing roof really stands out

Thanks again, love your work

Ok, cool, thanks for the info.

It's just a video of the BMW F1 car... let's just leave it at that hey.

This was designed for curious demo racers to see what it's like, not for S2 licenced people to critcise me for driving the BF1 around an oval track and/or about my editing skills....

Cheers.

Could somebody possibly render a private skin i made? It's in 2048x2048 and 1mb in size (decent quality).

I'm not yet ready to release her to the wide world (will soon) i just wanted to see what it looks like rendered.

If you feel really nice, in some sort of garage scene would be awesome

I'll PM the link to whoever feels like rendering

Thanks for the Shift+F trick. As i said, i wanted to keep it fairly raw with not a lot of editing to give a true representation of what S2 has in store for the demo racers.

The BF1 is capable of doing a lot more then going round and round an oval track, the thing stops on a dime, but i think oval circuits have been a huge part of F1 style racing history! Indianapolis Raceway being one of the oldest, if not the oldest race track in history, showing true testament to that.

Sure i could spend hours getting different camera angles and gathering some cut-throat style, hardcore circuit racing done in the BF1 cars around various tracks on LFS.... i just thought this was a nicer representation and something completely different to what Demo racers have seen so far (being that there are no oval tracks in the demo)

Anyway, here's hoping to getting the blood pumping for those demo racers out there

^^ agreed. I find it rather annoying when you're having a good race with someone and then they hit the grass and spin out. So you pull up and wait for them, then they telepit (i like that ) and i'm left in the middle of the road saying "fine then! **** "

One thing it would definately need to be an option because on FM (Oval Junkies) server you need to mash Shift+S to clear the road if you crash... then again.... real F1 races don't have the option to "clear the road"

No option! haha j/k.

Howdy!

Well, i've just completed putting together a 4 minute video of the BF1 doing a few race laps around Kyoto Ring. After my huge disappointment of forgetting to save the replay from the other night (which was fantastic), i decided to put some new footage together.

As i said, this video is a few laps of the BF1 round Kyoto Ring, played on the FM (Oval Junkies) server . This is just a taste tester of what S2 has to offer as there was only about 5 people in the server at the time of recording. But i did manage to get a few cool shots in as the pack mostly stayed together and was a pretty tight knit race with lots of drafting and overtaking.

I didn't spend long at all on editing as i wanted to keep it raw to show what you REALLY get with S2.

Might wanna keep your hand on the volume dial as during a few "old school film clip" scenes, the sound gets really pumped up as these 500kw V8's thunder past the trackside camera :headbang:

Video is in WMV format and is 32mb:

Very nice! I like your style

Here's a few things i would've liked to see added:

Widescreen (black cropped top and bottom).
Little more sharpness on the car to give it a bit more depth.
The white block on the front bar removed/dulled.

I love the extreme light to darkness, the off centre car and that old school photo colour choice. Also, the lines. The white lines on the road kinda look like they're bloody lasers or something, really defined, looks great!

Ok, ok, try this on for size ....

It would be awesome if there was the option to be the "towie" in a race

You are only allowed out of the pits when there is an accident. You have to drive the correct way around the track to the accident. Drive up to the car, reverse up to it as though you were hitching it. Then when you tap the car (reverse into it) the damage car is linked to your car and you then proceed to tow it to the pits.

Meanwhile, there is a pace car that was instantly deployed to infront of the race leader and everyone is speed limited (80km/h, as the pit limiter is currently) and have to follow the pace car until the damaged car has returned to the pits.

Would that rock the world of realism or WHAT!

Edit: If the human driven towie fails to return the car to the pits within say 2 mins for example, then the car is automatically forfeited from the race and the pace car returns to pits and race resumes. Saves the possibilty of a useless towie. Or, if all else fails, could just have an AI towie, who instantly spawns at the crash site and tows the car back to the pits. But, i reckon i'd have fun being the towie 8-)

Well, i just gotta say that, once again, LFS is awesome.

I just had the most exhilarating past few hours in LFS.

First off it started with the [Ts3] Drift server. First time drifting on anything besides Blackwood. I don't know what the track is called, but it was so much fun drifting on such a high speed track with big sweeping corners and a few snakeys thrown here and there. Linking corners at 130+, pounding it down onto the straight. Whipping the ass in the opposite direction, then back again to bring in some nice feint for entry to the corner, then back on with the power, tearing up rubber as you gauge your way through the big sweeping bend. Argh, so good! Then i ended with a few intimidating laps in the BF1 behind all the slow drifters

I then moved onto another server which was just a oval course with BF1's. I'm sure i have many people who would agree with me that it is one hell of a feeling (to be derived from a video game!) driving in between 15 other F1 cars at over 300km/h round an oval track, wondering if it's safe enough, and do you trust yourself enough to depress the W key to take a look and see if there's anyone below you. Will you hit the wall? Is there someone above you? What's that blurry masacre of car pieces flying all over the track up ahead?

Ahhh!

Never in my life time did i think a video game could offer such an incredible feeling and simulation of high speed racing.

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

I like it.

One thing that really detracts from the realism of being "locked into a race" is the fact that you can mash two buttons and magically teleport back to the pits. The only downside to not being able to teleport is if you get stuck in the sand pits and you can't move. One way to overcome this problem is when you hit space bar, it should teleport you out of the sand... maybe not back onto the track, because you'll more then likely get placed infront of the pack and cause a massive pileup... but off the sand and onto the grass would be good.

Yes this is still unrealistic, but a lot more realistic then being teleported all the way back to the pits.

So if you're hauling down blackwood straight and you come to a grinding halt and someone rear ends you which sends you flying off into the wall beyond the sand, busting your front end, then yes, you can teleport out of the sand back onto the grass but you have to limp your way back to the pits.

Or, maybe get rid of teleporting all together and make it easier to get out of the sand? Because we all know rescue crews and tow trucks are a long way off being implemented into racing sims....
