I was wondering why the file was 5 fukin MBs. Moskvich, why is there an ALPHA CHANNEL??? Remove the ALPHA channel ffs, then it will only be 2.6MB, and you can rar it and upload it to the forum. Remember, the larger the file is the more video memory it will take up. What do you think? 5MB vs 2.6 MB for each XFG if you have a full grid? How much is that, like 160MB vs 83 MB.
So you're saying SoftTH definitely wouldn't work with the Radeon 4850X2? It shouldn't matter though because the card can drive 4 monitors on its own anyway.
Well you wouldn't need TH2go for sure. TH2go is like a middleman, where you connect the 3 monitors into it and only 1 cable goes to the video card. With this card all 3 monitors connect directly to the video card. I'm not sure about softTH though. Theoretically you shouldn't need it because it assumes you have more than 1 video card, so it only renders on the primary one, whereas this setup consists of ONLY 1 video card, so that concept seems to be thrown out the door. But like I said I don't know for sure, there's no way to know until you try it. But it's free so who cares, if it doesn't work without it then there's no harm in installing and using it! Anyway, that video card will not dissapoint you, it even beats the more expensive 4870X2 in a lot of benchmarks, and the 4 outputs are an attractive feature which the 4870X2 doesn't have.
Those skins look cool, but I have a few complaints:
1. 1024x1024 is a small resolution for a skin, make it at 2048x2048, as everything just looks blurry right now.
2. On your first skin the headlights don't line up with the corner lights, the headlights are too low.
So how do you explain that it works fine with 3GB but not with 4GB? The RAM is fine, I tried it in another computer, and I didn't alter anything in the BIOS, it just worked the way it was supposed to work.
lol yea it won't fit directly, you have to rar it, like I said in my original post! I still managed to fit it in the forum's horribly outdated attachment system.
Yes there is a way around it: install a 64-bit operating system, it's the only real solution.
I ran into the same problem as you. I had 2GB of RAM installed in my PC, and it worked fine. When I added another 2GB I started getting blue screens in games, completely random ones too, each time I got one it was different than the previous ones. So what I did was I took out 1GB and my system now works great with 3GB, no more blue screens. Also, it still says it's in dual-channel mode, so that's good enough for me!
Since you're buying this in a couple months time, I suggest you don't think about it right now. Let the prices for Core i7 drop, then we'll talk. At the moment it's just too expensive, so expensive that you'll spend $1000 on the CPU, motherboard, and RAM. If you're gonna be gaming a lot on it then you should go for a Crossfire/SLI setup of video cards, as Core i7 can finally push multiple cards to the limit.
But like I said, there's no point in talking about prices this early because they're sure to change after the holidays, especially if AMD releases the new Phenom 2, it'll push the Core i7 prices down.
I suspect there is a problem with the driver. What driver are you using? The driver is the only thing that can tell a card to turn on AA. If you don't have the right driver, turning on AA will not have any effect.
If you plan to play games then you should definitely invest in a really good video card. You say that you want your computer to last for a few years, but keep in mind that the 8800 is a 2-year old card. You're better off buying a more recent video card.
I've tried different levels of transparency in some other dds files (not skins) and they worked just fine, so these should also work in the same way. If you look in the alpha layer, different shades of gray give different transparencies. White gives no transparency, and black gives full transparency. Try it yourself, it works for me...
As an example, check out the alpha layer of XFdialsALP24.dds, you can see the different shades of gray which give different levels of transparency to the gauge background.
While I agree with most of what you said NightHawk, I just want to ask, how many people actually NEED a pickup truck to haul things around? 1 out of 10 people at most? And how many people really NEED an SUV? You can't fit any more people in it than a regular car and you can't drive it offroad or you'll kill it, so what's the point? The other 9 out of 10 people just want large vehicles for the sake of having large vehicles, they don't actually need them. And with gas prices always going up (I guess somebody neglected to mention this to the big 3), those 9 out of 10 people are going to wake up and realize that they don't really need such big, inefficient vehicles, and instead go over to Toyota and buy a smaller, more fuel efficient vehicle, simply because it's almost common sense that Japanese cars are more fuel efficient than American cars.
GM killed the electric car and they will always regret that move when they go out of business next year. The Chevy Volt will never make it to the production line. And the 2010 Ford Mustang will have only 1 horsepower.
Yes it is for programmers, I suppose you could ask someone to make you something like that in the programmers forum, but I doubt you'll get any useful replies.
Well midrace join is allowed since this game is usually just for fun. In more important races the server admin would turn off midrace join so people wouldn't be able to do that. But it's all up to the server admin to do so.
CPU cooler doesn't affect the performance of the CPU, it just keeps it from overheating, that is the main purpose. However, if your CPU is too hot (80+ C) then you should change the cooler as the CPU won't perform as well if it's close to 100 C, not to mention you run the risk of frying it or your motherboard. But if it's around 50 C then don't bother as a new cooler won't affect your performance.
