Quote from wheel4hummer :I go to about 3500RPM driving normally. But I have an automatic transmission, so that's probably why. It won't shift into 2nd gear at under 2000RPM anyway. But I understand what you mean.

I have an automatic transmission too and my gear shifts all depend on how much I press the throttle. I've seen it shift gears at like 1500 RPM when I'm in traffic and barely touching the throttle. But usually I try to drive economically so I force it to shift at 2000 by lifting off a little.

Remember that irl you don't rev to 8000 RPM before shifting gears, and you rarely go over 3000 RPM. That makes all the difference in the world. The sets for LFS cars have short gear ratios so that they rev to the max power as many times as possible, whereas real road cars (not race cars) have gears tuned for good fuel economy, i.e. long gears, low revs. Higher revs = much higher fuel consumption. Try driving around the oval with a set with long gears (lower gear ratios) and keep the tach under 3000 RPM, and you'll see much better fuel economy. I've tried this in cruise servers, I made a set with gears similar to my car's, and I got much better fuel consumption than when I race.

How about a graph of actual S2 licensed racers? A graph with mostly inactive demo racers doesn't really make much sense to me.

What an amazing sound!!!

Reminds me of this very special car!!!!

I think it's very sad that you're begging for REPLYs, I assume you mean replys as I don't know why you would be asking for REPLAYS.

Actually 1kg fuel = 3kg CO2, it's a 3:1 ratio, which makes it even more.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :Try paypal....

Quote from Jaanis18 :I allready did , that doesnt work either

Try it again, but do it right this time. There's no reason Paypal wouldn't work if you have a VALID card.
Upsidedown car speed bug

So I flipped my car (XFG, if it matters) beside the edge of a track, right beside the wall. The drive wheels were still spinning, and the speedometer was showing some speed. I turned the wheels so they rubbed against the wall, and they stopped with the speedometer showing 0, and the engine stopping. Everything is fine up to this point. Now, I turned the wheels back to normal so they weren't touching the wall, and they magically sped up again to the speed they were at before, the speedometer was at the speed it was before. Keep in mind that the engine was off at this point.

You should ask this question in an FM Oval Junkies server lol

lol let's keep bumping it then!

Seriously, those were women? They looked like machines, they just got up and started running around after being hit by trucks and cars. Looks like a scene from some sci-fi movie.

I see what you mean, I was able to reproduce it in some situations. It basically happens when you switch to chase view (behind the car), then go to Shift+U, then Esc. The view is restored to chase view, but it is somewhere above the car, so the car is not in the view. The car only appears once you start driving, as the view is refreshed to include the car. Also, it only seems to happen when you first spawn on the track. If you start driving first, then try this, then it should work normally.

I reproduced this, but while doing so, I found another issue.

I started the game and went to hotlapping mode. The track doesn't matter. The car that popped up was the XFG. I changed the skin, clicked ok, and clicked back to go to the main menu. From there I went to single player. The track was the same, but the car had changed to the XRG (Is this supposed to happen, maybe a dev can shed some light on it?). So ok, fine, I went back to hotlapping, and the car stayed the same, XRG again. So why is the car predetermined when I go to hotlap mode, then stay the same when I go to another mode, when the reverse scenario doesn't happen? This is issue #1.

Issue #2 is the one you mentioned. Since I was pretty much forced into the XRG, I went with it. I went to hotlapping and changed the skin of the XRG. Then I went to single player and the XRG which was revolving in the corner still had the old skin, but when I clicked 'Garage' it was repainted with the new skin. Nice find Flame.

Download this, and extract the XR dds files into your LFS/data/dds folder, overwriting the existing ones.

I wouldn't get a 3850, you're better off buying a 4670, it's about the same specs as the 3870, it's the latest technology, and it's only $100. Before you get a 3850 make sure it isn't a Diamond 3850; read this first.

The 4670 is out now here in Canada, selling for $100, or about 50 of your pounds. Seems like a good deal to me.

Try downloading a fresh copy from LFS.net. If that doesn't work, then try a new keyboard.

Now that I think about it, the ATI Radeon 2xxx and 3xxx series were actually released in the same year, so they both correspond to the Geforce 8xxx series.

ATI | Nvidia
x600 | 6600s
x800 | 6800s

X1600s | 7600s
X1900s | 7900s

2600s, 3600s | 8600s
2900s, 3800s | 8800s

4600s | 9600s
4800s | GTX 280, 260, Geforce 9800s

I would have said yes to this idea too, but remember that servers can autodetect what content they're running now, so they go in the appropriate mode, be it demo, S1, or S2 mode. Now there are plenty of servers available now to all 3 modes, so no need to remove S1. I think it should be removed when LFS goes gold though, as S1, S2, etc won't make any sense to people when when that time comes.

Yet another startling new discovery in an age of prehistoric game content. What kind of posts came up when you typed "Mitsubishi Starion" as the title? Were they in any way similar to this one? Do you even know what I am talking about?

Stop the demo bashing please. I played demo for over 2 years before buying S2. What's wrong with that? I had no money back then! I bought it eventually when I could afford it, and this guy's also gonna buy it eventually. You can't expect everyone to be able to afford it, we're not all millionaires like you you know.

Get ANYTHING other than Intel. Examples: ATI Radeon Xpress 1150, 1250, or Nvidia 8400, 8600, 9400, 9600.

It's a digital tacho? You mean four 7-segment displays next to each other? I've played with those before. It would be pretty easy to do since they're just LEDs, you just turn them on or off, whereas a real analog tachometer is like an ammeter and is driven by the amount of current going through it (much harder to do).

Quote from wtf im nameless :hahah don't worry.. I usually don't show my stuff online till it's pretty much done though

It will be worth the wait though.. trust me when I say this build is over the top and I don't think anyone's ever seen anything like this in someones house before.

Let me guess...it's a RV which you are converting into an LFS simulator? That would be going over the top, and I've never seen anything like it in anybody's house!
