I'm not too sure about this one, copyright isn't particularly enforcable on the internet, we all know that, thus I'd say it's inevitable that the work of the better/more popular skinners is going to be stolen or copied. That said I do NOT think that makes such behaviour anywhere close to acceptable never mind about correct.
There's a difference between being inspired by something and blatantly copying it or worse editing it and re-submitting it, unfortunately my personal opinion is that whilst what you propose is sound in principle, anything can be edited out of a .jpg, and whilst I don't want to spend hours working with photoshop to create something only to see it abused by others, and would never even think of doing that to someone else's work, there will always be those who do not see such "theft" as a wrong doing.
It's a real shame to have to say if you don't want to acknowledge the possibility of your work being ripped then don't make it public, but I do think that's the bottom line.

I quite agree Al, if I'm proven wrong I'm ready to apologise.

<edit I should know better than to prolong an argument>

I didn't see what happened on one of the two occasions when you have said that he wrecked your car, on the one occasion when I was at the back of the line fo the three of us, it appeared that you made a good job of wrecking your own car, by driving straight into a wall when noname was passing you down the other side of the track.

Noname and I raced for a good 20 minutes before you joined the game, he in his XRR, me in my Fox, he followed me closely too, waiting for me to catch up on the straights since he had far more speed then me. He wanted to drive 'round the track with somebody else in view rather than by himself. At no point in the 20 minutes we raced togoether did he wreck my car, push me off the track or do anything I considered as trying to wreck my race. That's why I asked you to explain the first time you raised a ban vote. I don't think the explanation you offered was particularly helpful, and after watching you try to get him banned by pitting and calling a ban vote everytime somebody else joined the server, in the end my patience wore thin, and it was I not noname who called the vote which got you banned.

As far as I know the ban on the CCUK server is for 24 hours, you'll be able to return there after that, I will not hold a grudge against you, and will be quite happy to race you in future.

Since this sort of thread never does the forum any good, if you have anything else you wish to say to me then please send me a private message.

Thank you.

It's obvious that you've put a lot of work into that, the patterns align nicely, and that's probably a bigger achievement than making the patterns themselves.

In terms of technical achievement, you ought to be proud of it, in terms of personal taste, well, it's not really something that makes me go wow!, but hey you like it and that's reason enough to ignore me

Well done....particularly if you didn't know a great deal about photoshop when you started making it, and if it took you THAT long to make it, then it's certainly been worth it....now go make another

Strange.... I got em no problem.....rar archives with big .psd files in 'em.
I've tried to use the defaultskin[carnamehere].jpg as a template in the past, and I've gotta say it's no substitute for the wireframe templates, which offer much better definition.

You will have to register for masterskinnerz, to view the "skinning kits and templates" section, I'm not gonna hot link the page, that's not fair on somebody else's bandwidth bill.

If you really want em and can't get em elsewhere P.M me an email address and I'll see what I can sort out for you.

It's basically a matter of creating a .jpg at 1024x1024 pixels and sticking it into the LFS/data/skins folder. The result needs to come out at 400kb or under to be ideal, and if you want to use it online then you need to visit the LFS world link at the top of this page, click "My online skins" and upload it, that way your opponents can see your skin too.

The skins folder is evidently full of the skins that your game is currently using, and it's also where you should save any that you download. As suggested by Al, if you visit Master Skinners, you will find some excellent resources including 2048x2048 pixel wireframe skin templates in .psd format. They are absolutely the resource that I have found thus far for making skins.

I'm runing a 9800 series card, and although I can't be specific about what causes the problem you describe, i've seen something very similar when I used to play Far Cry, but only ever in Multiplayer. When playing LFS in MP mode I sometimes get random mid grey coloured sheets rendered across the screen at interesting angles. They look like walls and more than once I've slammed on the brakes only to pass straight through...

I do know it's not restricted to overclocked cards [mine isn't] and I doubt it's specifically a driver/direct x problem, since I've changed both on my machine as games demanded and still occasionally get funky errors.

I just decided that I'd been slapped by a random gremlin, and left it at that. sorry I don't really have anthing useful to say other than "you're not alone" [cue Olive]

has pics of their D1 series Nissan Fairlady Z (Z33)

I doubt it would be too difficult to adapt the shape to make it suitable for the FZR

Weeeeell I remember taking a gti/fxo/ supra look alike thingy around Blackwood in S1 and doing something that felt very similar in S2...

However I have this nagging feeling that I am being a stupid n00b and that you are pointing that out to me so I'm going to close my big mouth and go away in case I manage to fit the other foot in too...

I remember writing a review of LFS S1 when it was first released for a now defunct gaming website, although I can't remember exactly when that was since none of that site's files are online anymore. if I had to guess I'd say late 2002 or perhaps early 2003.

[edit The join date of "March 2003" suggests that it was round that time that S1 was released since I set up the account in order to buy a copy of S1 for review /edit]

I played it for a while and then drifted off. Last Thursday I was idly surfing and discovered the S2 release and decided to buy it. I've no doubt I'll play S2 for a while and once more drift off to do other things, and one day I'll probably come back and get S3 too...

I suppose the point to all this is that personally I don't think paying £12 once every three years or so is such a bad thing, although the tracks and cars are very similar across the two releases. Consider how much content is common to all of the Gran Turismo games, personally I own them all, how many of you can say the same thing?
