Quote from logitekg25 :keep in mind, it only has to be 10-15 seconds long (how long did i put for the deadline :shrugimo a month is plenty of time for 10-15 seconds of footage

Once again... people have told you why it's a bad idea, and once again I will repeat myself...
This competition, if there will be one ever done, should be hosted by someone who knows how to make lfs movies...

Quote from LFSn00b :0/10

Everything is crap in this video...
- no AA/AF visible -1
- quality is horrible -1
- Badly made movie maker effects -999
- Drifting is horrible, this "control" is way too easy with the soap tyres. Try doing that with cold tires. -3
- FPS is sh!t. Try recording half speed and speed it up. -1
- Shift+U for way better camera views. Also use shift+f to take off the HUD. -2
- Chat is visible. -1

Now I can leave this forum for any amount of time, without fear of bad movies being praised

This should be run by someone who knows what it takes to make a movie...
Since, a task like a cop chase actually is :

1. Getting a server
2. Getting at least two proper drivers for the cop and protagonist
3. Getting traffic actors
4. Arranging a hell lot of schematics and posting it on a forum where all the actors could see it
5. Making the actors actually act, not to do random bull
6. Recording the footage, which will take more time, since camerawork is tricky when you have to keep a hell lot of different aspects of the action in the shot
7. Editing it to look good.
8. Compiling (which on some computers can take up to 5 hrs
9. Posting on YT....

Now, if you were to say next tast : Dragrace / Rac promo / Slomo RB4 and stuff like that - I'd see you actually know what's what... but giving a freaking most tedious task for any video maker as a part of a small competition is kind of showing us you're not qualified enough to do this

A 344 E30 would be nice to have... I just wonder how much it would cost to make one

Quote from 911Booster :Excuse me? Not very kind from you to say that to a new user that you just don't know. How can you even think if I know what I'm speaking about or not?

You're excused, and yes, it's not kind for me to say that, but being an arsehole is my charming point...

I'll give you an analogy...
Come up to a racing driver, and tell him that going off the racing line and driving on wet tires in the dry would improve his laptime... I think he'd tell you that you don't know what you're talking about.

And about your statement of "I have analyzed literally hundreds of movie chases and trust me, I know when a brilliant camera work comes around". Fair enough, but I've analyzed literally thousands of LFS movies, and I know what LFS can give in terms of camera control, and trust me, I know when a brilliant camera work comes around

Hope that answers the questions raised in your mind (specifically the question "who the hell is he to make comments on my knowledge of LFS moviemaking?")
Now, after that post, to be easy on you, since you're a new guy to the forum, you can watch this to up your mood - clicky
Regards

Quote from 911Booster :judging the brilliant camera work

made-from-scratch sounds

You've been watching a different vid

But seriously, don't do those kind of comments untill you actually know what you're talking about.

Brilliant camerawork shows off the action in a constantly perfect angle to show off the beauty of the action, while being smooth, consistantly pointing in the right direction and being originally placed, to differentiate the camerawork from other movies, thus giving a video a "handwriting" of the author.

Scratch made sounds would mean Start Wars had to get a studio, and crash a car in it... record the sound and use it in the movie.

I don't think that an Nascar Racing gaming engine could be called "new", talking of iRacing

and also - It's not fun to see a video of some much less than mediocre drifting. You should either up your skills before making a next one, or at least do a few takes on each corner, till you get it perfectly

Quote from cop3 :I'm bored so I decided to make a police chase movie with wrecks and crashes also we need Paramedics and Highways Agency actors. TC members are welcome.

Oh and actually we need traffic for the movie as well.

Does raise a question... have you actually made an LFS movie before?

You've taken a vid that could have been made with WMM as an inspiration and managed not to improve.
Yes, I see the syncing to the music and so on, but the camerawork could use loads more work, some special effects would be nice to give the video some feel, and ofcourse - the ending is not an ending. Origina DA video has a proper one, yours - doesn't. Listen to the music and guess why... Yup, exactly - theirs ends logically, your's just disappears

At the finishing line we got a vid without any technical mistakes, which was easy to do, since it's 20 seconds of non SFX'd footage. Lacks attention to detail and something special that would make it stand out. Is blend

Boo

Quote from Timdpr :however, I don't know what you could have replaced it with, as morpha said.

Slow motion of a high rallycross jump with a camera mounted to the front quarterpanel overseeing the front wheel hanging in the air up untill the hard touchdown?

First thing that came to my mind

a few problems

at 1:15 you have a black screen while waiting for the new verse of the song... I'd recommend using game footage at that point
and the camerawork could have been a bit better... you know, more smoothing, better angles and so on. Overall a very good vid

8/10

Well, I must say, this IS very very VERY impressive. I will not pinpoint exact moments where there were mistakes and such, because through the whole movie my jaw dropped so low down, that it stretched the skin on my face, forcing my eyes to close, so I didn't see any problems...

Allright, back to being me...
this took a hell lot of effort, I must say. Coordinating that crowd must have been a tedious task, and some of the scenes were really good (I really screamed "wooohohoo hooooo" once the UF1 flipped over it's bonnet)
The downsides of this movie are... well, there is one - you're not experienced with the camera and the editing, which is an understandable thing, knowing this is your first LFS movie (and make no mistake, making an LFS movie, not an LFS video is a VERY VERY hard thing to do, you've set your goals high, and you delivered formidable results)

My advice to you would be - try making some lfs videos, concentrating on camerawork and editing. Once you get the hang of using special effects, and picking only the best angles - you'll surely deliver solid gold movies.

Anyway, I believe I should admit - your city racing movie was way better than mine, just because of the pure effort you've put into it, and because of the scale, which is on a totally different level. Good job, a very very good job man.

Im not overly impressed by this. I mean the amount of work involved is ofcourse imprssive and deserves recognition, BUT... Im not overly impressed by the originality factor.

This video is not a bad technical excercise... but, I got the same beef with this vid as with Don's Top Gear video : It's not yours... I mean, yes ofcourse you made it, but somebody made it before you, and all you did (even though it's a massive work) is copy everythig starting from camera angles and down to special effects.

Not my cup of tea, soz.

Way too much bite for you to chew on a first vid. You should have tried something simpler, so you can pay attention to the details
