been a while since i read up on this but.
a lot of the road going subaru imprezas are set with 1m toe in, prodrive themselves recommend this IIRC

the thinking is, that when you are hard on the brakes, the wheels splay backwards a little anyway, so hitting the brakes hard, can give you perfect alignment when needed for the corner.

not sure if LFS is that advanced??!!??

Quote from Resound :A real road car will sputter and lose power if it has a rev limiter. They either cut the fuel of retard the ignition which makes them run poorly enough that they can't rev any higher.

mine pops and bangs (JDM impreza with quite a few engine mods)

2 weeks back i came off a roundabout and joined a massive long traffic jam, i stopped, checked the oncoming traffic and could see a few cars up ahead starting to turn around, so i went for the L337 6500 rpm drop the clutch donut, and buggerd the clutch

slipped like buggery and bounced it off the limiter a few times by mistake illepall

damm, another £400 lighter on the wallet for an uprated exedy clutch, old one has not been in 2 years and i had not done much drag racing with it either

bloody cars, i can remember when i was 17 and me and a mate went for a drive out, i had a nova sr with twin 40 carbs and a piper high lift cam

my mate had an mk2 astra with a 1.8 engine we fitted, he is "showing off" at the local woods, just revving the feck out of his engine, bouncing the valves illepall

lasted around 5 mins before it blew up PMSL

look at your picture here

http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/4048/scimg4081hg9.jpg

see how it makes the XF look to "long" ?

if you adjust say your right monitors picture towards the right edge of the screen, you will make the car look shorter, until it looks the right length, but you will not "see" the section which would be behind the monitor bezal

IE: the front part of the door, you would not see at all in that screen shot.

does that make better sense?

adjust one of your monitors, i adjust my right one, but adjust the horizontal setting to move it towards the other monitor,

IE

adjust the right monitor picture towards the left, this helps fool the brain, that the section behind the bezals is covered, rather then have the screen stop, then a gap, then the screen rejoining, if you know what i mean??

works much, much better for me, i was having trouble hitting the apex on the corners before i did this as the apex seamed to "jump" about a bit to much between the 2 monitors, where as now i can "put" the apex between them where the bezel section would be

this does mean you actually "loose" a section of the screen, but it works much better, you do have to kind of know whats missing from the display tho?

Quote from Nighty :Wonder how many S2 racers go back to Demo mode to take out frustrations they can't do in S2 mode? .

LOL

my mate has just got into the game and i have been racing him on the demo servers, its comical how things go on in there

i did 4/5 races and pretty much won them all people could obviously see i was racing and not messing about, and some bellend crashes into me and starts the whole "PRESS ONE FOR TEH CRASHER" rubbish

before you know it, im banned, and sitting infront of my pc laughing out loud, classic, explained to my mate that it happens quite a lot on demo servers LOL

it seams like theres loads of little secrets that i never knew about, i never played s1 much so it looks like i have missed everything

i followed a car yesterday on "swain drift" autocross layout, watched him drive past some ballards and round the building onto the skidpan.

i was quite impressed

Quote from Shotglass :generally to all dfp and g25 users ... always use 1.0 for wheel compensation (unless you belong to the crowd that likes to change their driver settings all the time)

and for the record my settings:
dfp 720 race: driver: force 100 deg 720 lfs: force 80 deg 720 comp 1
dfp 200 drift: driver: force 100 deg 200 lfs: force 40-50 deg 180 comp 0.8
dfp 720 drift: driver: force 100 deg 720 lfs: force 40 deg 720 comp 1 (not like i can drift at 720)

im strong enough but with those settings i get massive oscillations on the straights 100/80 is about the highest i can go with an acceptable level of oscillation

if i park the car and leave the wheel sometimes it turns back and forwards by itself

i just like the heavy steering

i can lap faster in the FXR myself, it was the top speed run down blackwoods long straight that was confuseing me as the FXR was faster :o

maybe i just need to nail the corners as flotch said, i do like the XRR car, i like the way it drives, i have never liked the FZR for some reason.

LMAO

i cant even lift my massive corner desk thing up by myself

it needs to be taken apart and carried in sections when its moved about

Quote from miata :I don't know how you guys use so much ffb.
I set profiler to 50% and ingame ffb to about 10-15%. Any higher and it feels like there is just way too much resistance!

Also I use a dfp and with 720 degrees in profile so the wheel is a 1:1 match with in game - thus wheel compensation has no effect on the steering for me.

blimey, i use 150% with the wingman profile and 200% in game on my DFP

i think some people need to do a few weights in the gym

i have never even thought about watching the WR replays tbh.

i had just assumed the XRR would out drag it by a large amount with it only being RWD

so its down to my crap skills then

that's a valid point, but i don't think my lines are to bad for a few hours use, i know i can improve the corners, i just thought this FXR seamed to accelerate a bit to fast for some reason?
The XRR is faster then the FXR top speed yeah?

I am learning how to race the XRR, i am not super quick yet, but in this video on blackwoods straight i have no chance against this FXR.

i was useing a flotch WR setup and on lap1 this FXR seamed to pull away far faster then any other car, i do remember the start and thinking "fook me he got away fast there"

as soon as we are on the long straight he is away, cant catch him illepall

he slows at the end and allows me past, next lap on the long straight, i was thinking i would be able to escape on the long drag, and he pushes me along at top speed

http://www.sticky-micky.com/a1plus/wierd.mpr

seams a bit strange, is this due to my crap XRR skills?
it seams a little "wierd" for some reason

Quote from jtr99 :Probably should clarify that you need to have the latest test patch downloaded for this to work. If you're just using standard patch U, this feature doesn't happen (no white stripe).

with my mate getting into the game and installing the demo, i have been racing the demo servers with him and giving him tips, along the way i have been brought back to reality with regards to demo drivers LOL

i have been banned from a crappy for being a "crasher" by randoms who never saw anything, pure class LMAO

did see the odd one or two who were ok.

not many

its only within the last year or so really when, what you can call "reliable" 5/600bhp imprezas have been hitting the strips and tracks, and even then the list of fatalitys is high, even with the new stronger 6 speed gearboxes.

PAR uprated 5 speed gear sets tend to break quite a bit as well, at this level when used in anger. i have even heard of full on dog gearbox that gave up.

to claim that you helped build one in 97?? is complete and utter tosh, classic pub talk. i have never heard so much rubbish TBH

Quote from Hyperactive :After 2 days of extensive testing my ass and myself agree that this has been the 4th best 30€ I've ever spent (LFS, GPL and drunken trips top it but...). It did took longer than I though because I accidentally made it too tall at first. My legs couldn't reach the floor . After some mind blowing massacring I got some parts cut off and it started to look better. Called my uncle, told him to stop bitching and start welding.

The result is seen in the hq pic below:

i made mine far to tall as well

it killed me cutting off all the welds i had done
