Dont get me wrong, the old Dells ... especially my old Dell (Dimension 8250)... i had upgraded the PSU and ran an X800 and a gig of ram (that friggin pricey RAMBUS ram too... since thats what it reqd) ... it got a steady 60fps in most games of the time...Had a CRT then so i was only running 1280x1024 (i think) no AA or AF cause it choked it a little, but i was still pretty pleased with it...
But the stuff they're coming out with now... is just laughable. They're using BTX even after Intel abandoned the architecture (albeit BTX has very good thermal benefits).... The power supplies are not enough to run any of today's decent video cards... not to mention you actually have to hack and slash at the case internals in order to fit anything larger than a 9800pro into it since the cpu cooler is the size of a city block. They were still using DDR-500 last time I checked... and most of the time they are shipping systems with 5400rpm SATA hard drives by default (unless you pick something else).... pathetically slow drives... (I have a 5400rpm SATA drive as a backup mirror of my main drive and it is noticeably slower than a 7200rpm drive at loading just about anything.)... anyways that's my rant about Dell.. take it as you please
EDIT: OMG I just noticed his video card only supports directx 7 :ices_rofl
oh ya you need to buy a new pc.
If you are blocking drivers unnecessarily (making more than one move off the racing line) anyone will get quite fed up being behind you, so you can pretty much guarantee that they will move you. This would happen in the real world too... if you were blocking me unnecessarily (and im sure there are plenty of others here who'd agree) I'd be sure to give you a good bump or spin you out... since blocking unnecessarily is just as unsportsmanlike.
If the driver behind you is faster, it's not a free ticket to continuously block them.
Im sorry, but you have no place on a track right now. You are basically rushing to meet the Sept test date and you don't even know some of the most basic of driving maneuvers. You are a hazard. Thinking that a game is going to help you is not correct. LFS, as good as it is, doesnt simulate G forces, doesn't allow you to truely feel the car and its limits and there is the element of fear -- which is completely thrown out the window when playing a game.
Stop saying you can't find some piece of tarmac to go practice on, because you can if you really want to.
Again, based on everything that I've read in this thread... you are nowhere near ready to be on a track... and honestly, if an instructor does let you (*shudders*) is a complete tool and shouldn't be teaching
It really all just comes down to this... you are not mature enough to be driving a race car. End of story.
Park that Mini and come back to it when your older.
Jefferson Course is a great track once you get it down. If you don't even give it a chance, or give yourself a chance to learn it properly... of course it's going to suck.
I seem to remember a time where you begging for help in the Programming/Insim area, Sun..... and hmm... what were you trying to make??? Exactly what you are complaining about here...
im no javascript expert... but that looks like it would only show the correct page after 60 seconds... and after which it would not refresh.
setTimeout is usually used to delay execution on a particular part of a script rather than refreshing.
such as:
setTimeout(wait.hide(), 1500);
is a snip from a web page i made that has a 'Please Wait' overlay. That code hides it after 1.5 seconds.
