I would test if the DVD drive works (with a known-to-work windows CD maybe) and then ask at linuxquestions.org Wink

Since the DVDs work on a different, newer laptop I guess it is the drive.

Session of Incident (Qualifying*, Race): Race
Protestor's LFS Lap: 142
Timecode of Incident (EITHER MPR time OR Time of Day): 19:45:18 (race time 5:41:43.00)
Your Car number: 51
Protested Car number(s): 68
Brief description of incident:

I was lapping Hutnik, I had a draft on him on the oval going into the boothy chicane. At the braking point I was ahead of him and on the inside, but he kept in it, not yielding the corner. I saw that he was still going for it but it was too late, I did locked up a bit, but he gave me absolutely no room to make the corner.

Car 68 receives a warning for causing a collision. The reasoning why it only is a warning: It is the end of the season in the final stage of the race and the only protest we had this very season, nothing would've been gained or lost by anyone. Under different circumstances this would've resulted in a drive-through penalty.

On a further note: For the post race chat line
Quote from 68 GFR™ Hutnik : 68 GFR™ Farrell - alle Deutschen Shag Schafe

... team 68 [GFR] Team receives a 2 point penalty. Furthermore its driver GFR™ Hutnik won't score points for this event for unsportsmanlike conduct.(again)

Thanks for your tipps and tricks.
I tried three different dvd burners in three different systems with two different burning software packages each in all possible writing speeds. All failed. I have the feeling that the DVD drive in the old notebook might be broken. Since USB and DVD drive failed, there is not much more I can do to get it going. Sadly. Network installation seems not to be an option either as I have trouble accessing the network adapter from the BIOS.

Qualifying will run from Sat, 10 December 2016 13:30UTC until Sun, 18 December 2016 13:30UTC. Drivers can drive as many laps as they wish to. A team needs at least one timed lap to be allowed to start the race. E.g. it is enough that one driver of the team sets a lap. If more then one driver of a team sets a lap time, the faster time will be taken for the starting line-up. The end of the qualifying also marks the deadline for changes to the team's line-up, class or car.

The qualifying password will be published here, so teams, that sign-up can directly do qualifying, even when noone's sending them a password. Please always drive with your correct name format on the server, so it is easier to do the qualifying results. Wink

Thanks. It gets me a rough idea in a way. It afterall happend 7 years ago, so it might very well be true, these screenshots show every measured point (well increased in size by some margin).
What would be interesting in this context though: What are the smallest differences the in-game track can represent. A laser scanner may be accurate between 1 cm and 0,2 mm in its spatial relation, depending on various factors. It is quite crutial to know what is the maximum there to adjust the project strategy and everything.
I took a quick look at the surveying company's Facebook page and they have many scanners of Faro. Assuming they used them back in time as well, I might get some statistical data. Maybe this gives me further clues on the topic.
