I think BrawnGP can do well as long as they have money, which may become an issue later if they don't get some more sponsors.

I don't see McLaren being championship contenders unless they can make some major revisions to the car very quickly.

This is a hard season to make predictions. Hopefully it will stay this close all year.
Some really good racing

2008 Speed World Challenge Year End Highlights.

I don't have the Speed channel so I didn't see any full races, but I thought this was a good video of some good racing.

I recommend watching the video in the window. The download version (parts 1 and 2) is about half the resolution.

The four other videos are some in-car footage from various cars.

Quote from el pibe :oh guys ! apparently the canadian gp could be back if they cant build the track in abu dhabi in time.... =D if that really does happen, ill take the first flight to montreal and buy a ticket for the hairpin ( where kubica nearly killed himself )

where'd you hear that? Maybe we can find a way to postpone abu dahai construction.

Quote from Becky Rose :Everyone in the anti camp argued Hamilton down because he had a winning car, they now have what they always wanted and that's to see Hamilton in a mid to low order car, and look what the guy did with it ... and they're still not happy.

+1, I was about to say the same thing. However, I know he was lucky with 8 "free" positions, but KERS (boo!:thumbsdow) and strategy are not luck. They are competitive advantages (unfair maybe, in the case of KERS) available to everyone, but they are not luck :nol2:. Anyway, I'm very interested to see how he (and everyone else) does in Malaysia.

I was kind of glad the McLaren was bad this year. We finally get to see Hamilton in a bad car and settle the issue of whether he is a "great" driver or just a "good" driver and the bickering would stop (but probably not... maybe if he were to race a proven driver in the same car... like...um... Alonso...oh wait. )

Button and Barrichello (and others) have winning cars, but no one criticizes them. If we had a poll like this for Australia 08, I doubt Hamilton would have had as many votes for driver of the day. I voted for Buemi, btw.

Don't get me wrong, I like the 3 B's (Button, Barrichello, BrawnGP) and would be very happy to see either of them--or (almost) anyone else on the grid for that matter--win the championship. BrawnGP is my new second favorite team. I even like how the car looks. I hope they keep the livery clean, like it is now without a lot of sponsor logos.

i gonna think to buy g25 or the porshe wheel
because i watch the videos in youtube of the G25 and its very quiet and i can play when the others are sleeping but the porshe wheel its pretty noisy

I don't know about the Porsche wheel, but the G25 is much quieter than the DFP.

off topic:

Quote from PKS Machina :I have a extra joystick laying around. I really only used it for star seige, and am willing to sacrifice it in order to make a clutch pedal since my DFP doesn't have one.

I'm thinking modifying it a bit with a flat plate so my foot rests at the base and pushing forward would just be assigned to the clutch.

Good idea or no?

I don't know if it's a good idea or not, but it is possible. Below are pics of what I used with my DFP before I got a G25 (sooo much better:nod. The pedal and base were from an old thrustmaster wheel/pedal set. It had been dismantled and broken and used for other stuff I can't remember, so I couldn't use the old pedals for the clutch.

The joystick had some old connector, so I somehow just used the joystick mechanical parts to move the electronic bits from the old steering wheel, which was usb. I really don't remember what I did and I don't want to take it apart right now.

You wouldn't have to do any of that if your joystick works already, but a base is a good idea. You might also want to put something flat on the joystick so it actually feels like a pedal.

(And yes, I took the handle off the joystick.)

Ban on refueling in 2010? The races are going to have to be a heck of a lot shorter. Maybe they could run two sprint races or something. (Doesn't GP2 do that?)

Quote from scania :...FOTA is looking to spice up qualifying...

Why?

I'd prefer it to be just like in LFS. No rules regarding fuel load, just 15-20 minutes of open track time to set your fastest lap. Qualifying doesn't need to be a spectacle.

Quote from ajp71 :This year the F1 drivers championship was won with 98 points, Nascar with 6684. Notice how one system favours simplicity whilst the other just produces big numbers because they impress people who can't ****?

Oh, ok. I don't watch nascar :dunce: :sleep2:. A quick google search yielded this. It is overly complicated. Though part of the reason there are so many points is because there are 40+ drivers-all of whom get points (meaning a large points spread), and nearly 40 races.

edit (not worth making a new post):
Quote from Car and Driver :"The Chase for the Cup. As near as we can tell, the top 12 drivers after the first 26 races receive 5000 points each. As the remaining races are run, the score matrix is enumerated using differential calculus and a few of the less controversial strands of non-Euclidean geometry to create a Fibonacci sequence that is then fed into an Infinite Improbability Drive, which determines both the series winner and Jeff Gordon’s next pedicure appointment.

American points? I don't get it. Video game points, maybe.

I think extra bonuses like that would be good.

I also think constructors points should be taken away for mechanical failures.

Quote from MAGGOT :IMHO, that's the way it should be. Winning a championship by running in a reserved 5th place is utterly boring. Without victories, championships should be impossible.

I hated the idea at first, but the more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

Quote from MAGGOT :I say winners get 40 points, second place gets 20, 3rd gets 10. Give the victor a bonus.

I like that idea better.

(I don't think this is a repost. If it is, my apologies:shy

Not sure what I think of this... Bernie Ecclestone wants to get rid of current points system in favor of gold/silver/bronze medals (like the Olympics). This would essentially put the midfield out of contention. The championship could be won only by winning races. Makes sense, I guess.

read about it here.
