It's a Porsche

really? I always thought the FZ was front engined. If it's based on a Porsche, I'm going to start driving it more often.

Quote from [RF]-art555 :A bit off-topic but I've recently started using Clutch pedal (again) but I'm not that good with Heel-toe at the moment so the option is on, however it doesn't seem to match revs very good. I want to do it all by myself. Maybe there are some exercises to learn heel-toeing you can suggest? thanks

I sometimes go to the autox course or a track with a long straight and just practice heel-toe braking.
Maybe try starting with slower, more gentle braking and work your way up to full threshold braking.

Also you can try driving in a straight line at a constant speed and then try to down-shift without changing speed or upsetting the car. That's more of a rev matching exercise than heel-toe, but it might help.

...when I just clicked on the button repeatedly as fast as I could.

When I did it properly, I got a .234 and then a .225 with my range being from .208 to .25.

*desperately tries to think of something to say on topic...umm...umm......*

I try shift at the light unless I'm approaching a turn.

hey, that's a good idea! I'm going to try it out now.

Quote from myx :In the start of each race and on the straights it seems i am a little bit slower then other cars, even if i exit a turn with more speed.

Have you tried messing with setups at all? Maybe try messing with the gearing or downforce...actually, I don't think any of the demo cars have downforce settings, so just gearing then.

Quote from DavidSS :
1) When "Throttle blip on downshift" is on ... does it seem realistic compared to real driving?

what Murray Peterson said. it's too perfect, like with paddle shifters.

Quote from DavidSS :
2) Does LFS simulate damage to the drivetrain when down-shifting hard without throttle blipping? (in other words turning off the "Throttle blip on downshift" option in LFS, and then not manually blipping with a clutch on your pedals.

Unless there's been some update recently that I don't know about, LFS does not simulate any drivetrain damage, but if you over-rev, there is some slight engine damage (you lose a little power), though I have never noticed it. Then again, I don't really over-rev the engine that much.

Quote from DavidSS :
3) Do you get more speed and better lap times with this option on or off? (in LFS)

If you are absolutely terrible at rev-matching (or don't do it at all), then having it on may help sometimes.

Quote from DavidSS :
4) What do you prefer and why?

I have a clutch pedal and I prefer blipping the throttle myself because heel-toe braking is more realistic and fun.
However, it makes braking more complicated and more difficult until you get good enough so it becomes instinct. I find it easier to learn in real life because I can really feel if it was done properly or not. In LFS it's hard to tell if you rev-matched perfectly.

The 787 is famous because it's the only rotary powered car and the only japanese car to win LeMans. I don't see why it's infamous.

I think LeMans cars are limited by liter capacity...i think...maybe? A rotary can make more power per liter than a piston engine, while also being smaller and lighter. This gives it an advantage over cars in the same class, which is why I believe it was banned (not only at LeMans.) just speculation though.
(btw, i would love to see a rotary powered car in lfs. Maybe put a rotary in the FOX... )

On topic: what's all this talk about using trk maker with S2??? Your going to get his hopes up.

I would be very interested, but I don't have much experience with the BF1. I would certainly try to watch the broadcasts.

I'm pretty sure this information is somewhere in this forum, but I sure can't find it.

How do I progress to the next ctra license (bronze to copper, silver etc.)? Is there a certain number of points or race wins needed? I can't seem to find this info anywhere.

I'm in no real hurry, but it would be nice to know how far I have to go to get the next license.
I know I have a long way to go, but it's something to look forward to.

(I don't want to start a discussion of how points are scored, I know it's been covered many times.:nod

Quote from SamH :I'm sure it's pure speculation! I mean.. nobody would actually DO that, would they? Who in the world could gain from doing such a thing to Hamilton's car?? It's just silly speculation, I'm sure!

did you just make that up or did someone actually claim that?

There's nothing about it on Formula1.com...

Quote from SamH :Interested to hear speculation about a reset/diagnostic command sent to Hamilton's engine/gearbox during the race, not from the McLaren garage. That could be an interesting out-of-season discussion on team security.

what? Where did you hear that?

Thats why the rule is there

As much as I wanted Hamilton to win the championship, I would hate for kimi to have his well-deserved title taken away because someone "cheated". I would like to know why are there regulations on fuel temperature? what difference does that make? I've never heard anything anywhere about fuel temps affecting performance. Anyone know anything about this?
I was rooting for Hamilton, but I still think races should be decided on the track, not by the post-race politics of the FIA or whoever. I guess that's part of the sport, though. Even if Rosberg/Williams and Kubica/Heidfeld/BMW are found guilty of anything, I don't think disqualification is necessary. Maybe the loss of constructors points or one grid position. Of course, that would still put hamilton up to 4th, since all three finished consecutively ahead of hamilton. But it would be less harsh of a punishment for Rosberg, Kubica, and Heidfeld, who probably had nothing to do with the fuel temp anyway. If anything, a loss of some contructors points is probably more appropriate.

...wow that was way too long. And all pointless if McLaren isn't really appealing anything.

EDIT: or maybe it's pointless anyway...

Kimi certainly deserved to win, though I was really hoping for Hamilton to be the first rookie champion. At least he beat alonso (in the championship). At least i think he did...

I did not expect the Ferraris to be so much quicker than everyone else. Massa and kimi drove very well.

Hamilton did well after his costly mistake and mechanical trouble.
