Quote from Riders Motion :Because if I wasn't waiting for them to go down, the car would probably hit the rev limiter when I downshift...

I get it. I think I read that wrong. You clutch-in after the revs fall... just a weird way to word it, that's all. I still doubt your rev limiter is that close to 3k...

I downshift like this http://youtube.com/watch?v=21HwiUsEmLU

The fundamental purpose of downshifting is to increase revs.

Quote from Rappa Z :I also liked the old shape, but compared to the crap being designed today this is probably the best looking sports car there is.

I liked the old shape too... it wanted to be a Ferrari F40 when it grew up.

I wouldn't be so quick to bestow the title of "best looking sports car there is" though.

Quote from Riders Motion :There's no real way to get a perfect downshifting in my opinion. You gotta practice a bit and one day you will feel it right. Personally I release the gaz and wait to be at half of RPM I was then I downshift. If I'm in 4th @ 3000rpm, I will release the gaz, wait around 1500, clutch, downshift and slowly release the clutch. It works ok for me.

Surely you mean upshifting? why would you wait for revs to fall when you're downshifting?

Someone should write a book about it... fantastic read.

Reminds me of that onboard McLaren F1 video... guy spinning around an airport or parking lot or something. Girlfriend goes nuts.

Can't find it on youtube anymore.

edit: did anyone stop and consider that maybe the driver was running over all kinds of cute little animals?

Quote from BAMBO :If I'm not wrong they're was a '60s-'80s Chevy, Pontiac or General Motors(can't remember) car that could have done that

Yeah, but American cars always sound like shit, so... no point in breaking the law/being a public nuissance.

Quote from Rdcranno :Pool on a whole is quite easy.

Depends who you're playing against. Some people may never give you the chance to take a turn. Making a tough shot while giving yourself perfect shape for the next can be a challenge even for pros.

It's like bowling. Getting a strike is easy—but 12 in a row?

Quote from RocksGt :Heard that from himself at an interview

When we was invited to play with DiMeola and McLaughlin they started improvising a couple of times just to warm up and take some ideas out... when they asked Paco about what scale he was using and what mode he used to play at, he didn't know how to say... he was all his life playing guitar, just that... nothing about studying theory... he simply take a guitar and play what his head wants to play

For me is just a pure genious

Listen to this one http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=w8LL1x6J2rU

Ah, yes, of course

I've been a Paco fan for many years (simply misunderstood you).

Quote from RocksGt :Paco de Lucía it's pure genius... he didn't even know what a scale was, he played all by ear and he almost own Di Meola and McLaughlin on that tour

I don't understand... Paco wrote half of that tune, and he's been performing solo since 1958 (age 11).

Quote from tiagolapa :Hey.
You can use a chord called Power Chord. Its used a lot in rock/metal and is basic/easy to do. Works in all notes and only 2/3 fingers is needed. The power chord is used to do rhythmic sound. Any crappy guitar player can do it

Here it is: http://www.guitar-newbie-central.com/images/Power_Chords.jpg

Next you learn to do palm mute sound and you can play metal riffs :P

"Power chords" are just the first three strings of a barre chord; a triad with no third... just the 1st, 5th & 8th (tonic and dominant).

Woops! of course

Quote from mrodgers :now what?

Learn the E chords next. Think of an open E chord (022100) as form 1, and an A chord (x02220) as form 2. Learn the major, minor, dominant 7th, major 7th & minor 7th for each form. Then move the whole form up the neck for different chords (memorize the note of each fret for the first two strings (E & A strings all the way up to the 11th fret)). If the open E string is an E, the first fret will be an F, 2nd will be F#, 3rd will be G, etc.

These are barre chords. ex: 022100=E major, therefore (because the E string @ 3rd fret=G) 355433=G major, and so on and so forth. Same with form 2: if x(0)2220=A because the string in parenthesis=A, then x(7)9997=E because the A string on the 7th fret = E.

After you memorize that stuff, there are other simple open chords (at higher frets—better sounding than barre chords on acoustics). ex: 079900=E, 044200=F#m, 066400=G#m, 077600=A, 099800=B, (079900=E, 079800=Emaj7, x46600=C#m, x24400=B for form 2) to name a few. So instead of playing an Am like x02210, you could play 077500 (or x77500, or 577500—depending on how you want it to sound/what chords came before or are coming after).

Then there's a sort of third form (C shape and D shape (they are the same shape!)). Instead of looking to where your index finger is barring to determine the root, you look to where your pinky is fingering the A string. ex: x76454=E, x76444=Emaj7, x7675x=E7... etc.

Then there are adult (jazz) chords like 7x7899 that you'll probably never play

Next lesson is arps scales and modes. Hope that helped!

Then at 2am, I'd like it to turn into a pizza.

What happens when you turn it back into a car the next day? bite holes in the tires and jizz in the gas tank?

Obviously, I'd want it to move the roof up and down at the touch of a button.

But I always thought it would be cool to be able to bypass your exhaust silencers when cops aren't around/when you just want to make a glorious racket (with a very nice V12 or something). "Press button for stealth mode" kind of thing.

And then of course... the old beater van with bicycle tires that's hiding a dragster engine in the back and drag tires that lower down onto the ground... after the guy next to you has agreed to race for pinks!
