Let's also not forget IRL you can move the position of your head while looking in a mirror, effectively changing the mirror angle & eliminating "blind spots."

+1 but keep the names above the cars.

And a passionate +1 for the markers for people behind and next to you! best suggestion I've heard in years (literally)! Ever play BF2? just like that.

+1 and..

Shadows on a slider would be awesome. I'd really like to be able to increase the contrast of shadows, especially for brighter environments like Fern Bay on a sunny day.

That sounds great.

Quote from mrodgers :Really? Wow, so the guy who made the thread about different user names is using S1, hmmm.

Sorry, but it shows the exact same thing. The side mirrors show half of what the center mirror shows. If the car leaves the center, it will leave the side.

Side mirror in your SS obviously shows more top & bottom.

@ tomylee: +1! always bugged me!

Wheels suck. I'd drive a real car with a mouse if it didn't weigh or cost more overall. Pedals, however...

(get S2! support your local developer, and it's cheaper than a really good wheel, which you'll probably end up getting sometime anyway!)

Top speed
Acceleration on the move
High weight

So basically... just "power" and "weight," which happen to be the only two real intrinsical disadvantages of AWD

Quote from MAGGOT :Wow.. you were right with the deep breathe and the sounds supers make... I never noticed how close the sounds were.

You mentioned that the normals were a super hard compound... Slicks are harder. All professional grade slicks are harder I'm sure. A normal street compound will wear out much much quicker than a slick; I'd imagine the same for a super as well. I bet it'll last longer on the track than a normal would. So, normal street tires are softer than racing tires.

Slicks are way softer, broheim! Ever felt one with your bare hands? you can almost scrape rubber off under your fingernails. Racing slicks don't exactly have 30,000 mile wear ratings.

Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? wherefore reason ye among yourselves, considering the development process? Is not Scawen, your developer, a faithful developer?

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

That's cool and all, but the main points against it are going to be the same, like it's nearly impossible to accurately reproduce--someone is going to gripe when it's not perfect--and it would probably take too much time compared to a made up track. But... if it could be done, it'd put a smile on my face (as would any new track--key problem).

Quote from ajp71 :IRL tire pressures are adjusted to the nearest half pound in club racing so to the nearest tenth is really believable for top level teams. Filling fuel to the nearest cl is ridiculous, nobody ever fills a car up that accurately because even in F1 fuel consumption is still an educated guess.

Well, my point is, if you're going to fill it up from scratch, why not put exactly as much as you want in? why more or less? units of measurement are completely arbitrary. IRL you have a sort of almost infinite "slider." That's impossible to simulate, but you can get close with increments of very, very small units of measurement. Just because the amount is dealt with in units doesn't mean you're "measuring it," per se. IRL you can give your car a "splash" more fuel. That's the kind of reckless fine tuning I desire.

Quote from tristancliffe :We are doing the fuel in our car in kilograms, because that's what actually matters for performance, and we need to use fuel as ballast to reach the minimum weight. But Percentages don't bother me in LFS as they're just numbers. Who cares whether it's 15lites or 15%, all you are looking at is the 15 bit.

Hmm. Now (or at least when it becomes adjustable) we'll need the air temperature displayed next to the fuel mass/volume.

Quote from ajp71 :But there's never any need to fill it that accurately because fuel consumption cannot be predicted that accurately.

But the same could be said of tyre pressures and temp & load "prediction." If you're going to simulate filling a tank with liquid, why simulate a "lack of need" for accuracy? I think it would be unrealistic if I couldn't at least fill it up to the nearest cl.

Quote from ajp71 :The MPG/range readout in your car is a vague approximation fitted to a lot of production cars, it will be roughly right in a car driving at consistent speeds on a motorway, under extreme loads and changes of fuel consumption though (ie. when racing) it will be useless. Most racing cars do not have a conventional level fitted because the tank is filled with fuel tank foam.

It's live (updating several times a second) and fully dependent on throttle position/revs/engine load.

Nevertheless, I'm not going to argue for this cause, as I don't honestly care about anything above and beyond the analogue fuel dial. I just don't think the feature necessarily needs to be removed.
