More capital A "Axis?"

I think he means swastika decals?

Quote from deggis :I've always wondered why it says "fuel load at pit stop: xx %" while it actually means "FILL tank to %". If Scawen is about making everything as newbie-friendly as possible, this is one of the things that definately is confusing for the first times you think pit strategy. Plus for litre units too, having percentages is just weird especially when all the other settings are in proper units.

Agreed--that is ambiguous.

+1 for more precise fuel start level in setup screen (displayed in litres and percentages). It's not difficult to do in real life if you're starting with a completely empty tank.

Also, my real car seems to know exactly how much fuel it's using (live MPG readout and "miles left in tank" display), and of course the tank capacity is no mystery, so I don't really see why you shouldn't be able to see how much fuel you have in the tank, digitally, more precisely than 1 litre increments.

+/- 0; I don't really think it needs any more time spent on it.

Quote from Bob Smith :Damn right. I'm hoping someone will go "cool product, I want to hire that guy", and give me a job.

Did you know my car's license plate surround says "Bob Smith" on it? Maybe I could sell it...

Quote from Hammerdown :Just in case there are folks who haven't seen it:

I think the SR8 would be more than enough for me. And the version in this vid was in road-legal spec!!!!! Michael Vergers reckoned that slicks would have been 30sec faster!

Enjoy

PS. srdsprinter - what fps do you get with that setup?

Man, I would love to drive that thing around town (Beverly Hills)!

Quote from BlackSheep720 :The majority of race cars these days use paddle shifters. But this would be a good idea for the road cars.

I certainly wouldn't use the word "majority." Besides, not even the majority of LFS race cars would use paddles.

Quote from MAGGOT :For those who think we don't have the tracks, have a look at this year's ALMS Schedule. Houston, St. Petersburg, Long Beach, Detroit are all street courses. Then there is Lime Rock which is more like a club circuit. Sprinkle in the longer rollercoaster tracks like Road Atlanta and Mosport, with a dash of airport goodness with Sebring.

LeMans spec cars can race on nearly any type of paved racetrack.

And Long Beach--which race I missed this year.

LM car(s) will probably come about the same time we get 24 hr time (as per flight simulator) and working lights, which is to say, don't hold your breath! :sour:

Quote from mrodgers :why in the world do you want to even see the driver and wheel when you are racing, let alone see the driver reaching and shifting the gears?

I, for one, prefer driving with mouse/kb over wheel/pedals. If I don't see the hands on the wheel out of the corner of my eye I don't have as good an idea of where the wheel's turned.

Quote from FL!P :I would find more useful (at least in single seaters) to be able to point-by (raise the right or left arm and point to the side where you're going to leave room for the guy behind to pass you), or raise your arm when you've stalled (when stalling gets implemented). But I'm not holding my breath.

There already is (it's already in the log).

The real thing needs a power drill stuck up its ass to start. I realize this isn't really important till we have stalling, but whaddaheck. It's just wrong.

And then, naturally, you should be able to start it in a pit box if you stall it there, as that would be realistic.

P.S. I don't know about the other formula cars for sure, but my guess is it's the same deal with the FO8 and FOX (please inform me if otherwise).
P.P.S. Don't mean to sound impatient.

I spent an hour trying to make the BF1 sound half decent. Man. Not good. LFS just has issues with revs that high. The only way to get it to sound remotely realistic at high revs is to turn the exhaust volume so high it clips all the time, and that's just... bad. Maybe LFS could, like uh, simulate some kind of distortion?

Quote from squidhead :Ehm...this kinda gave me a idea, I believe it's called soap box derby, and in it - people race self made not propelled cars (basicaly a "a wooden box with caster wheels nailed to the bottom") on a downhill track...
That could be fun in LFS (just thinking out loud)
(I mean this type of racing - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soap_Box_Derby )

Quote from DaveWS :There is no hope..

That's what we all thought before you came along.

Maybe a formula one engine is just so different from other engines that it needs a different sound engine altogether to come close? So far, only some rev ranges sound realistic; the rest just turns into cheese.

You're lucky the demo isn't 10 minutes in one car on one track.

We're unlucky demo users can post "improvement" suggestions.

Quote from ajp71 :Driving with thin soled shoes is best, I've got a pair of Lonsdale style shoes which have a thin sole and a high rubber back on the heel. Most of the advantages of racing footwear without looking like a total *insert expletives* who wears racing boots anywhere other than a in a race car nor do they look like driving shoes that instantly say flat cap and leather helmets.

TBH I've never tried racing shoes. It is no stretch of the imagination to think they would be very nice. One of the issues I have with shoes while driving is the heel. I need to feel my heel snug up against the floor. I can't imagine how some women drive with high heels...

Hmm. It's arcadier, if you will. Reminds me more of a mid 90s game. Try taking it in another direction.
